Water does attract water, just wondering.
That's why you call that "the future".

Is anyone who understands the site earthquake.usgs.gov... keeping an eye on the quakes in chile!!!
Thanks
Correct. It is about 27 actually and these will all be either aftershocks or additional movement. None of them are likely to cause major damage, but a 6.0 for example could exacerbate damage already caused by the 8.8. They will have no effect upon the current tsunami as that wave is already out there, and most of these are too small to cause a tsunami themselves.
Puteanthanks for the info.
Can you perhaps comment on if it is norml for these many aftershocks and now the additional 6.3 in Argentina is normal for the region/after an M7-8 quake? Really interested to understand what we're looking at here without getting all it's the end of the world! I'm guessing that this is regular behavous after such an event. Also are the Japans and Haiti faultline activites always connected to the 'San Andres fault line?
Very greatful for any further info I can get on this
