I wonder if he's related to sparklem

That's too funny. You guys must have been in hysterics at the proclamation of him being PRESIDENT OF THE RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION (that would work with the voice changer thing) and all (especially at 15). The priests never visited our home when we lived around Chicago. The chapel in Wisconsin was in the middle of nowhere so I'm sure there were no neighborhood presidents complaining there. When people did ask questions I just told them my mom went to a "traditional" catholic church, or something very vague like that. After the first time I went to "church" with my mom, my dad asked me what they did there. I told him everyone dressed up in black robes and bit the heads off of bats. He didn't think that was too funny. He would never ask my mom directly about church stuff because he didn't want her to know that he had any interest in it whatsoever. So I was always the "in between" person. Fun!

Hey Marker,
What do you think is happening with factnet? Did sparklem's "outing" of this site cause it to explode?

Hey,

Looks like Factnet's domain time was up & they hadn't paid - so was shut down, I don't think Sparklem has the ability to shut down the site, as much as he may like to!

The president thing was bordering on ridiculous, we just told him to go & sh*te, "Oooh, Mr President, I didn't realize! I will place the ball on the ground and never dare kick it around again!"

We played some good practical jokes on him as well, he was an all-round grumpy man, always objecting to everything.

But I reckon Factnet will be back up soon, they just have to come up with the $$$.

I managed to get a response to Sparklems "outing" in, but a 5 year old kid could find this thread, Google The Palmarian Church & there it is!! about 7/8 down, child's play, probably thought he was being really clever in "discovering" something not worth documenting.

The only discovery was me using the word crap - Oooooooh....

Sparklem, your probably reading this so - HELLO!! - I'm in a jokey humour. its Halloween. I must go worship my Master now....

Thanks for the good laugh!

Other than worshiping your master, what sort festivities go on in Dublin for Halloween? I don't suppose you were allowed to dress up and take part in anything growing up. I remember one palmarian woman would dress her daughter up as a nun, but I don't think she let her leave the house to trick-or treat. Woo hoo, sounds like fun!

Hey,

No we were allowed to go out, I was always a Vampire, my Mother loved Horror/Scary movies, Alien & Aliens were 2 of her favourites & Christopher Lee in the old Dracula films (which incidentally is the book I'm reading at the moment, Dracula).

I wouldn't think they can do it now, I've got all the sweets for the kids which I'm digging into!! Sugar Rush!!

It is afterall a Celtic Pagan festival, so is tommorow, which the Christians hijacked and made into All Saints Day so the new converts (who were pagan) could still celebrate on the same day, same with Dec 25th, they don't know when Christ was born but 25th Dec was another Pagan festival day, look it up its all fact.

Also the Satanic sign of the Goats head? Pagans used to dress up as animals when they celebrated certain days, the goat was most revered, the Christians then took this symbol and demonized it, forever associating it with Satanic rituals.

Seriously, look it all up, Christians were notourious for hijacking other belief systems and incorporating them into their own, so the people could make the move over more easily, sneaky move, remind you of anyone??

Damn those Christians!!

Now I must go consult with My Master on such matters, HE is much more educated in it than I, he rode a Generals Tank while the Blitzreig rained and the bodies stank, he was pleased to meet me & I guessed his name.

Took me 10 tries though.

Marker.

ps. Damn all that sugar goes to the Head!!

Oh,

as for what goes on here, Big Bonfires are the name of the game, fireworks and kids trick or treating, then the teenagers drink too much cheap cider and puke all over the place, stumble into bushes etc etc etc.

Great night...!

The Bonfires - thats a leftover from the Celtic Pagan Ritual, the fire was to scare away the Dead who were meant to walk the Earth every Halloween, still the tradition is very much alive here in Ireland, home place of the Celts, you should read into Irish mythology, fascinating stuff.

Amen, brother!

It all sounds very well documented

Being a film maker, were horror films your favorite?

Oh yes,

Extensively documented, and we all know you cannot argue when presented with documentation.

Especially when presented in whats called the Scroll Format (for example see Dead Sea Scrolls) it will numb you into a silent abyss.

But its all documented, and quite possibly (I could be wrong) in Scroll Format.

I love horror movies especially

Evil Dead II - Sam Raimi (Spiderman)

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original, forget the sequels and the "remake") - Tobe Hooper

Dawn of the Dead (original) - George A. Romero

Saw 1 - (the others are crap)

First two Alien Movies

The Lost Boys - Joel Schumacer

Bad Taste - Peter Jackson

Braindead (the lawnmower scene was commented as being "the sickest, most vile 15 minutes ever committed to film" - quite a compliment to Jackson I think, great scene though, not for the squeamish) - Peter Jackson

Poltergeist - Tobe Hooper

And so many many more I can't count

Horror movies/ books were always my favorites too. Would you like to make those sorts of movies? Or are documentaries your specialty?

Hey,

I've always wanted to make good horror movie, they look like the most fun to make, ("throw another bucket a blood in there!!")

Bit documentaries & shorts are good, anything creative gets my goat

One thing I don't like though is Horror movies that just do excessive gore for gore's sake. Then release it as a "Horror" movie - just making a film with tons of gore & bodies being cut up etc etc with no purpose othet than to disgust the audience is too easy, these guys have no imagination, to make a good horror movie is an absolute skill.

Take the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, you come away from watching that movie thinking you've seen a blood bath - but in fact there is very, very little blood shown in the film, in fact there is less blood in Chainsaw than all the others listed above.

Now thats talent.

Excessive gore is only good in a horror/comedy, where its kinda tongue in cheek - Peter Jackson's BrainDead (the guy's early film before Lord of The Rings) is probably the goriest you'll ever see, but its a comedy, so you can get away with it because it doesn't take itslef seriously, same with Evil Dead II, another great Horror/Comedy with Slapstick violence thrown in (Sam Raimi the director is a big fan of the 3 stooges)

Man, I'm going on a film education lecture, way off topic. forgive me!!
