Washington D.C., December 12, 2017 – U.S. Secretary of State James Baker’s famous “not one inch eastward” assurance about NATO expansion in his meeting with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev on February 9, 1990, was part of a cascade of assurances about Soviet security given by Western leaders to Gorbachev and other Soviet officials throughout the process of German unification in 1990 and on into 1991,

Referring to East Germany and soviet borders that no longer exist.

Better question would be why so many ex Warsaw pact countries want to join NATO?

Spoiler alert the answer is Russia.

This seems to confuse many Putin fan boys who don't get that democratic states get to make their own choices.

Not many fan boys of Putin.

Just propaganda.

Republican Indiana Rep. Jim Banks, who was listed on Texty's "enemies" roundup, sent a letter to Republicans on the House Appropriations Committee on Tuesday, asking them to end U.S. support to Texty. The committee on Tuesday passed a resolution effectively defunding the NGO, sparking applause from Banks in comment provided to Fox Digital.

I was just designated an ‘opponent of Ukraine,’ after being sanctioned by the Russian regime. I’m not bothered by what foreign nations think of me. But it’s shameful for our agencies to be using Hoosiers’ tax dollars to collaborate with foreign groups that attempt to intimidate U.S. citizens and lawmakers. I’d like to thank the Republicans on the Appropriations Committee for defunding any such work with the Data Journalism Agency," Banks said in comment Wednesday afternoon.

The Ukraine is in a war that they can’t sustain with manpower, live off other countries, the USA is 33 trillion in debt, the Ukraine has a real corruption and accountably problem, people are getting rich off this war, where Ukraine might just be as corrupt as Russia.

“We have already been forced to slow down the replenishment of our own forces to hedge against an uncertain funding future,” McCord wrote. “Failure to replenish our military services on a timely basis could harm our military’s readiness.”

With the USA draining its military stockpiles.

What’s the end game?

It’s doesn’t matter, the Ukraine can’t outlast the human cost. Russia can. It’s like play a game who has the biggest collection. Ukraine at around 35 million. Russia 144 million.

Many of the eligible in Ukraine have fled to the West to avoid conscription. They are still trying to get out of there.

There are plenty of putin fanboys on this site. I guess they like the topless pictures.

You would have to ask Putin about the end game, its his war.

Wars aren't won by population alone.

The Ukraine is living off other countries at a rate of manpower they can’t sustain. To what end? Putin going to surrender?

If NATO wants to fight, then f’n march into the Ukraine.

Right now the war is sucking resources from the USA that are not being replenished, with a growing US national debt, with a loss of manpower the Ukraine can’t sustain, while people are getting rich from the corruption of this war.

It's something a US general once said to the Germans whilst holed up in Bastogne.

And what Ukraine should tell Putin and the Russian scum invaders by my guess.

The problem with that is no-one considered what all those ex-Soviet and Warsaw Pact countries wanted.
None of them wanted to be subjected to Russian overlordship again and felt threatened by Russia - quite justifiably so as it turned out.
They approached NATO.
Perhaps if Russia hadn't been so aggressive towards those nations and dismissive of their wishes none of this would have happened?
But we'll never know will we.

Lots of people saying what the people from these nations should or shouldn't do.
I wonder how many have actually been to some of these countries and spoke to them and asked their opinions and tried to understand their fear and dislike of Russia?

Old kit.

Tiny % of GDP.

And its Ukraines choice to keep fighting. Happy to support them as long as they want to.

Does that sanction broken promises? It just confirms the US and NATO deception and manipulation to achieve their aggressive goals. Like Islam, they have no compunctions to lie if the lie facilitates their goals.

They lie to us, we the people every day and twice on Sundays when it fits their needs.

You can have the best jets and “guns” in the world. Pretty meaningless if Joe is draining the strategic fuel reserves, begging opec of oil, and we don’t have the ammunition to feed our weapons.

Is this false from Reddit?

The US is heavily reliant on China and Russia for its ammo supply chain. Congress wants to fix that.

A lot if we don't and things to fix there.

Amazingly that's what happens.

Difference is in the west it actually gets reported.

The USA has a growing national debt of 33 trillion dollars. We borrow and print money to throw into the Ukraine.

For what end. What is the end game here. Do you think Putin is going to surrender.

If NATO wants to fight, go fight. Stop the flow of “financial aid” that is feeding the corrupt government of the Ukraine and lining people’s pockets.

Support for Ukraine barely registers on the US balance sheet.

On the other Russia has had to double its military spending to maintain its conflict in Ukraine.
