Don't look now, but your vaunted leader held this very same position.

When Joe Biden Voted to Let States Overturn Roe v. Wade

www.nytimes.com...

Until he didn't.

Just like his previous stance on segregation, and so on and so forth.

You can't blame this on congress's failures with any credibility.

Nice try though!

Wait? What? Wasn't Joe Biden in Congress then? Wasn't that a congressional vote?

I don't see how that tidbit of information has anything to do with me or my contention that this isn't really a states' right issue, seeing how Alito is seemingly handing the issue over to elected officials, who are also Congress members, in his draft opinion.

It looks to me like Congress can snatch the states' right victory away, regardless of how Joe voted 30 or so years ago as it stands.

Alito send this issue away from the court and into the hands of elected officials. Congress is composed officials elected by citizens of each state.

Congress can, and good luck. Well at least it would be in their right to do, unlike what the SC did with Roe vs Wade. So this will first go back to the State level unless Congress can get it though the house and 60 votes in the Senate and all that will be a tough nut to crack as they have already tried it and failed.

It is safe to assume it will stay at the State level.

In the meantime, they're coming for contraception next. The Pill, the IUD, Plan B, will become illegal in every state that bans abortion.

Smarts don't it?

You can always visit or move to a state that doesn't ban it.

A lot of people do it for 2nd Amendment rights and other issues. Welcome to the club if this decision is overturned.... technically you're already in it regardless.

ETA: If your lifestyle requires an abortion facility to be conveniently near by, you might want to reevaluate your ethics and morals.

Guess us females better start practicing, "Under his eye" and "May the Lord open". All fun and games until they ban reading for us too.

Am I missing a law that's in place regarding a man's reproductive system and what he can do with it?

I don’t think there is such a law. Just let men be in charge of your body! Go cook!
/sarc

This is mad! This is wrong!
I can’t understand why those that are “pro-life” just can’t ban abortion for themselves, and not dictate what a woman can or cannot do.

Ummm. . . maybe it's because we see abortion as the deliberate, intentional killing of an unborn human.

And some of us are against that.

We can poll the babies.

What would be the pro life sentiment then?

Because states have, or should have, a better grip on what those particular states want.

Because the tiny baby doesn’t have anyone fighting for them. Use birth control and quit killing the helpless.

In the meantime, they're coming for contraception next. The Pill, the IUD, Plan B, will become illegal in every state that bans abortion.

... and then specified "they" as...

The people that have installed trip laws in their states, outlawing abortion as soon as Roe V Wade is overturned.

So that's who "they" are, according to you?

That's the American public. The American public elected the officials that represent them in the state legislatures. So I take it you are at odds with the American public.

I'm part of the American public. I must say, I'm shocked at what I apparently support. I had no earthly idea I was anti-contraception... I always just assumed I thought I was in favor of using contraception. My daughter was on the Pill as soon as she was medically able to be on the Pill. I wonder why in the world I did that?

Seems like one of us is insane. I certainly hope it's not me.

It must be hard to live in a country where you think every other citizen is out to get you. Some would call it "paranoid." I wouldn't of course... I have spent quite a few years living under your ideology with abortion on demand and other nonsensical stuff all based on flawed attempts to use legislation from the judicial/executive and selective law enforcement based on political ideology.

Yeah, it sucks. I can agree with you there, just not on who is doing it.

There ain't no yacht club, bub.

I think I made my feelings on this crystal clear. I've so far been told in this thread that I should be chemically castrated and now that I should sit down and shut up because I don't matter. The answer, in both cases is:

HELL, NO. MAKE ME.

Yes. They are elected. True, enough.

However, that is not who Alito was referencing. This issue, what ever side you happen to support, should be decided by a vote of the people in each state, for each state.

The states that have already put trip laws in place to outlaw abortion will also outlaw The Pill, the IUD and Plan B. Mark my words.

Here, let me show you a little sumfin' sumfin'...

Your qoute:

This is mad! This is wrong!
I can’t understand why those that are “pro-life” just can’t ban abortion for themselves, and not dictate what a woman can or cannot do.

Here's my amended version:

This is mad! This is wrong!
I can’t understand why those that are "anti-gun" just can’t ban guns for themselves, and not dictate what a law abiding citizen can or cannot do.

You see?

How does it feel?

Do you even care?

Abortions and guns are used for life protection, right? Riiiiiiiiigghhhhhht???? Therefore, I welcome you to club as well.

I'm going to keep making this comparison because the hypocrisy is fantastically delicious.

Does that preclude Congress, in your opinion? Because Congress seems to think the ball is in their court and they're promising to introduce legislation, from both sides.

Why? If that never comes to pass (and I doubt it will), you'll just ignore that you ever said them. Even if someone points them back out to you.

You realize you're predictable, right?

Nice point! The mail is Federal!

How would that work? The US Post Office is charged with delivering mail regardless of location within the USA. They do deny delivery of certain products, but all of those certain products I know of are illegal on a Federal level. So is the Federal government supposed to enforce state law now?

That's about the only way contraceptives can be denied delivery in certain states.

Don't worry, though! I am sure Sookiechacha will come up with something in her (quite vivid) imagination to easily explain how this would even be possible.

So, you're saying that in states that outlaw The Pill, IUDs and Plan B, residents of those states should break the law and simply mail-order it?
