I feel the same way. It seems like the stupidest thing you could do if that was actual Rusich doctrine on the battlefield.

But who knows. I have my doubts about it's authenticity but it could be real.

As you say; China play the long game and they will only act in what they think is China's best interests. Nothing else is a consideration for them.
I suspect they'll be quite content with drip feeding Russia a limited amount of supplies and support, just enough to drag the conflict out a bit longer.

Once Russia, and possibly even NATO, have used a significant amount of resource they will make their move.
It could involve advancing into Russian territory that China believes is historically their's.
It almost definitely will involve moving into Ukraine on the pretext of assisting in the rebuilding etc.

China certainly has no historic, cultural or ideological sense of duty or friendship towards Russia, quite the opposite.

In light of Putin's threat to use 'all means at their disposal' and previous threats to use first strike nuclear weapons I hope Xi will have told him in no uncertain terms that any use of nuclear or chemical weapons will see China joining in with the international response, whatever that may be.....and that it is not a bluff.

I've also been contemplating the narrative that is going to possibly develop over the Olenivka incident. Many of the prisoners released were Azov battalion fighters from Avozstal. It'll be hard to believe most of what will be reported just due to the nature of the source. I can't really trust Azov to give an honest account of what happened but it will be a piece to the puzzle and some stuff will able to be verified by the current evidence available, as well as discounted for the same reason.

ETA: I'm also interested in hearing their first hand accounts of the fight for avozstal. I'd like to piece together more info on which units the Russians actually had fighting there. Where they sending green troops to attack the plant or where they facing better trained units and how much was Russian SOF involved.

That would be a tough scenario for a weakened Russia. China is much closer to the region overall than Moscow.

Putin's obsession with NATO and the long-gone 1980s is another reason he'll be poorly remembered by the Russian public once they wake from their extended nap.

One possible scenario might be that in few years, Russia sees some kind of secession . And if China hopes it, it will now just sit and wait hoping it come true .

In the far East regions of Russia they might never been big fan of Moscow anyway, i dont know for sure that thought..

1. "Partial" mobilization is the same euphemism as a "special military operation". The number Shoigu mentioned - 300,000 reservists - is nowhere to be found in the official decree.

Perhaps this is a ballpark figure they discuss internally, but nothing prevents the final number from being higher. Nothing prevents the MoD from mobilizing in several waves, in fact, at any pace they want.

2. Everyone can be drafted, not just those who served in the military before. Other exemptions stated in the law - large number of children, sick relatives - don't matter either. This is already happening.

3. No real training will be provided for the draftees, perhaps no training at all. Russia drafts about 130,000 young men every year (this year as well), there are no resources available to train so many reservists.

Overall, there's every indication this will be a colossal clusterf*ck and won't change the course of the war in any significant way. But, knowing Russian history, I wouldn't be so sure.

So have to just ask ....is this full mobilisation ? They just lied as allways, some twitter messages says that they want 1 million to be now mobilized.

You know things are going to pot when your professional army has been defeated, and you have to rely on conscripts and criminals to fill the gaps. Reluctant soldiers make poor soldiers.

You know things have gone to pot when you threaten nukes against conventional forces in their own lands.

Russia, the cause of so much misery to their own people for a hundred years.

Putin's #mobilization: This 32-year-old Sberbank IT specialist in #Moscow has been called up in the draft. Must report tomorrow morning. He has no military experience and has a health condition that precluded him from serving before.


This mobilzation wont change the outcome, Ukrainians are motivated and have good weapons .

Imagine an extra up to 1 million russians forced into the south of Ukraine in time for the winter..
The ones already there are starving and under supplied.
And if its a "usual" winter in Donbass,that means each side hunker down for a sustained artillery exchange-but this time Ukraine has a #ton more advanced artillery capabilities.

What will Putin do if these troops start getting slaughtered after he signs Donbass over to Russia?
He told us in his speech he will use nukes if Russian territory is attacked.

The entire western MSM are singing in concert that he is bluffing-which I think is irresponsible journalism.

When your military experts on state TV are calling for a mandatory 'Go Fund Me' from the economic aspects of your society to supply your army with equipment... you know there are some really big problems... oh and 'Sanctions arent doing anything' they've been saying for months lol yeah right, they sure seem to be.

putler wont use nukes, he'll be signing ruZZias erasure from history if he did... is he mad enough to attempt it, yeah, but launching nukes isnt a single persons action (as has been shown throughout history where 'accidental' nuclear war has almost broken out in the past and was stopped at the last minute by some smart guy in a sub or bunker who said 'no').

If Russian propaganda were presented as a novel, readers would reject the premise as too implausible. The oligarchs partially responsible for institutional corruption in the Russian military donating money for related equipment is a mind-boggling concept. That notion is akin to a volunteer firefighter who commits arson so that they can attend the related call-out.
