look at the shadows they dont even match the photo with the rifles being held up not horizontal like the shadows show that photo reeks of a bad photoshop

The shadows are accurate. Look at the guy in the black uniform just beyond the guys holding the rifles. Because of where the sun is in the sky, the shadows are not directly in front. They are skewed and this is confirmed by the guy in the black uniform and his shadow.

Just so people know and understand. Information from war zones can become confusing as there will no doubt be info released from the players (on both sides) involved that might not necessarily be true.

As such take everything as a possibility and NOT as absolute truth.

23 June update

Key Takeaways

* Belarusian forces are conducting mobilization exercises along the Ukrainian border but are unlikely to enter the war in Ukraine due to their low capabilities and the adverse domestic implications of military involvement on behalf of Russia.

* Russian forces have likely reached the southern outskirts of Lysychansk and are reinforcing their grouping around Severodonetsk to complete the capture of both Severodonetsk and Lysychansk. These gains remain unlikely to provide Russian forces with a decisive edge in further operations in Ukraine and have further degraded Russian capabilities.

* Russian forces are continuing efforts to encircle the Ukrainian grouping in Hirske and Zolote and are likely moving to take control of these settlements.

* Russian forces have likely successfully interdicted Ukrainian lines of communication along the T1302 highway and are using recent gains along the highway to reinforce assaults on Lysychansk.

* Russian forces amassed equipment and continued building defensive capabilities along the Southern Axis.

I think when it is all said and done in the east Russia is going to get a temporary pyrrhic victory but will be unable to hold onto it, especially with the way Russia is pouring all of its reserves, as well as active units being yanked off current front lines in the south, into the east.

I am seeing reports that Russia is going to try another attempt to take Kiev but imo it will be done to pull pressure of Russian forces in the South. Ukraine is already making good use of its harpoons and longer range artillery and now that they received the HIMARS systems...

I think any kind of attempt by Russia to resume mobile warfare will be to Ukraine's advantage.

The geography of Ukraine is open to manoeuvre warfare: but neither the Russians nor the Ukrainians have the logistical (including industrial base) for that to occur. The withdrawal of Ukrainian forces/avoiding encirclement resembles the German Army from 1943 - 45, seeking to avoid that outcome. But eventually, German troops ran out of getting out of the jail (destruction) cards.

Manoeuvre warfare is absent in Ukraine, like in the Italian campaign (WW2). Instead, a series of battles is taking place, as opposed to sweeping military movements undertaken by Sherman and Patton. But unlike the allies, the Russians don't have personnel numbers and industrial output advantages.

LOL

Russian air defense launched a rocket and it made a u-turn and struck the launcher.

Earlier, #LNR air defense system did THIS. Take me home country roads. Pretty sure that's not how it's supposed to work.

I would think that taking Odessa would serve Russia's interests better. It would leave Ukraine landlocked, making the Harpoon missiles nearly useless, and it would give Russia a land bridge to Transnistria.

Also, it's being reported in MSM outlets that Ukraine is running low on ammo for it's Soviet-era equipment (which is most of its equipment). I think the momentum is likely to shift in Russia's favor.

That happened a lot in the Korean War. Chinese and Norks fired old Katyushas and they went all over the place -- decayed propulsion fuel that burns at uneven rates.

If Russia had presented any meaningful evidence of Ukrainian war crimes, I think you would be showing it on ATS.

The harpoon missiles and the long range artillery is going to prevent Russia from taking Odessa. Russia had planned on a joint beach landing from the sea while ground forces came in from the northeast. The land invasion, well Russia couldn't quite cut it, and is trying to hold Kherson.

I still believe that Russia is not going to be able to hold onto its gains. Same with the 2 fake republics.

When all of this started the Russian Ambassador to the UN (was also acting as UNSC President) said they had evidence to support the bs genocide charge and would release it. To date Russia still has not provided their evidence to anyone - the UN, UNSC, UNGA or any member of the UN/NATO.

Given the fact Putin recently said the purpose of invading Ukraine is because Putin thinks he is Petr the Great.

Honest question, and definitely not off topic:

what do expect the Ukrainians to do given the fact that they are being invaded by a superpower?

24 June update

Key Takeaways

* Russian forces continued to drive north to Lysychansk and have likely encircled Ukrainian troops in Hirske-Zolote.

* Ukrainian officials announced that Ukrainian forces are fighting their last battles in the industrial zone of Severodonetsk before withdrawing from the city.

* Russian forces conducted unsuccessful offensive operations west of Izyum and north of Slovyansk. Russian forces will likely prioritize encircling Ukrainian troops in Lysychansk and interdicting remaining GLOCs northwest of the city before resuming a full-scale offensive operation on Slovyansk.

* Ukrainian forces are continuing to launch counteroffensive operations along the Kherson-Dnipropetrovsk Oblast border and are threatening Russian forces in Kherson City.

* Ukrainian partisans continued to attack Russian collaborators in Kherson City.
