I've been watching the use of drones in this war. More effective than I had imagined.

The Ukrainians sunk a pair of Russian patrol boats off Snake Island the other day using a drone. Not sure what it mounted for armament, but both boats got hit with something big. Then, the drone used to distract the Moskva ...

The loitering munitions and other drones that strike ground targets are proving effective not only on the front lines, but behind enemy lines as well. As well as being "eyes in the sky" (but not being a substitute for real reconnaissance as the Russians continue to fail to appreciate).

I sense a big industry push to come will be drone suppression technology of various kinds.

Cheers

putin is to undergo surgery..perhaps the doctor will "accidentally" lose him on the table?

I'm sure the surgeon's family will be being very carefully looked after by putin loyalists during any surgery to prevent such "accidents."

A smart one can use soemthing liek liquid stiches, but doa shoddy job. long enough for them to go on a vacation, and putin drop dead if they are good.

I agree with/could have written every word.

I'll add that while most of us knew from the start that drones would be important in any battle nowadays, both the astounding effectiveness, and the types of drones that turned out to be most effective so far has been a complete surprise to just about everyone.

2 May update

Key Takeaways

* Russian forces did not conduct any confirmed ground attacks along any axes of advance and instead shelled Ukrainian positions on the frontlines.

* The April 30 Ukrainian artillery strike on Russian command headquarters near Izyum likely disrupted Russian operations on the Izyum axis and may hinder Russian offensives from Izyum for the next few days.

* Russian forces on the Southern Axis continued to regroup and reconnoiter likely in preparation for ground assaults in the direction of Kryvyi Rih, Mykolaiv, and Zaporizhia.

Russians plunder $5 million of farm vehicles from Ukraine — to find they've been remotely disabled

Russians would nick anything that wasn't screwed down.

Russian troops in the occupied city of Melitopol have stolen all the equipment from a farm equipment dealership and shipped it to Chechnya, according to a Ukrainian businessman in the area. But after a journey of more than 1100km, the thieves were unable to use any of the equipment — because it had been locked remotely

I saw some video showing this convoy and another huge convoy of full grain trucks being stolen by russia earlier today.

What surprised me the most is that these were highly organized, russian police escorted, massive scale thefts that were organized and protected by russian armor and airborne forces on major highways.

Is russia that desperate for equipment, food, or foreign currency? (they supposedly sold most of the grain to China)

Did china know they were purchasing stolen corn?

Did china suggest the heist in the first place?

Is russia planning to genocide Ukraine by famine again?

Is the russian military really more concerned about conducting massive thefts for putin than winning a war?

The whole thing is bizarre.

More evidence that Putin's "army" is just a heavily armed mafia gang.

They'll become standard police equipment soon enough.

Interesting report in link below about another fire today/yesterday in Russia-Belgogrod again, this time the ministry of defence building.
Also Russians admit a rail bridge partially destroyed today in Kursk(major supply line for russian supplies into Ukraine)was "an act of sabotage."

It also talks about how easy it is for Ukrainian saboteurs to enter and operate in Russia, and that 1.9 million Ukrainians already live in Russia making them Russias 3rd biggest ethnic group..Even if just 10% of them decide to fight russia from within, thats enough to cause big problems for putin.

This "expert on trade and diplomacy" describes the problem Russia faces-

Dmitry Grozoubinski, an expert on trade and diplomacy, said Russia faced an almost impossible task to secure its key infrastructure from future attacks.
He wrote: “Don’t envy Russian policy-makers trying to deal with this.
Consider what it would be like to try to protect Russian infrastructure targets from highly motivated creative operators that look like Russians, speak Russian, and in many cases probably have Russian passports.
Especially as almost anything can be a target.."

ukrainetoday.org...

Also concerning the fires/attacks in Russia I found this map made by someone on Reddit who is collecting info on the subject-I know its just a random reddit poster, but the map has all the fires/attack we have talked about here and a few I had not heard of-the coal plant in the far east, and a couple of police stations being examples-

Heh. Sounds a bit like the environment in Vietnam way back when.

Another thing Putin missed in his decision making.

Russia, though, has a force called the Rosgvardiya that can be used for internal security duties. Supposedly had a strength over 300,000 in 2016. Still, Russia is a BIG country with lots of infrastructure to protect.

One notion mentioned in the press is that the Chechen leader may use Russia's difficulties as an opportunity to set up some kind of emirate in the Caucasus region. Putin would be stupid to trust that man.

* - US warns China it will be subject to sanctions if it would send weapons to Russia

Interesting.

Ill keep an eye on that tidbit. Source is a tweet, nothing else.

Did a cursory search trying to find some meat but nothing yet.

All the updates, for the most part, comes from the live feed from the Ukraine control map. Every single item posted to that feed has a source button which will take you to the source of the info. In the China sanction deal it came from Guy Elster - an independent journalist and former foreign affairs editor of Walla News. He is verified from Twitter (blue check name).

Liveuamap.com - from the live feed

that shows the info came from link below

That is how Putin controls Chechnya. If Putin gets rid of / undermines the Chechen leaders control, the floodgates would open back up with the terrorist Islamic lunatics (who longs for the fays of the 9th century) restarting their war with Russia (and if anyone has ever seen the combat footage taken by the Chechen's it gives barbaric a whole new meeting. Cutting the throats of captured Russian conscripts but intentionally avoiding cutting their heads off and intentionally avoiding the arteries in the neck so their death is painful and slow).

There it is.

"We are communicating directly, privately to Beijing, that there will absolutely be consequences for large-scale sanctions evasion efforts or support to Russia to backfill them," he said.

"We will not allow that to go forward and allow there to be a lifeline to Russia from these economic sanctions from any country, anywhere in the world."

From CNN Washington.

Putin's looking a little shaky.

Which begs the question as to the state of the man's health never mind mental acuity.

Getting more like Adolf every day.
