Putin's actions are evil, but I feel bad for the conscripted Russian kids who got shoehorned into this f-ery.

Ukrainians clearly aren't feeling the Slavic kinship. No bread and salt for Ivan.

You do understand that China has to tip toe around this because of the very wording that Putin used? Putin recognized 2 areas of Ukraine as independent and used this as a pretext to invade. China can't have that idea bleeding over into the Taiwan issue. China has never accepted that Taiwan isn't part of China. If parts of Ukraine can declare independence from Ukraine and be recognized by Putin, that loosens China's claim on Taiwan.

I've been EXTREMELY impressed with reports about Ukraine's professional soldiers.

Extremely impressed.

And more than a little disturbed about reports of pssd off teens going too far.

This is NOT an effort to kill as many russians as you can, let them surrender.

Then treat them well.

From what I can gather the Ukranian Airforce is out of the game along with its Navy. and the right-wing battalion is surrounded near Donetsk in a "Coldron" and has been given the choice of surrender or annihilation. That's from someone who is supposed to be getting the oil from the ground ... so we will see. If true this is basically over.

Yeah the navy was ordered to scuttle all ships in the harbors, probably to cause issues for Russians and landings. The air-force, to be honest, surprised me. They lost a crap ton of aircraft going back to the 2014 and I did not think they were able to replace them like they did. However Russia does not have air supremacy and the shoulder launched missiles being supplied are being used effectively(in my opinion). Same goes for the antitank missiles. They have caused a lot of problems for the Russians.

I assume you are referring to the Azov battalion? If so I dont think they will surrender given how hard they fought for Ukraine back in 2014+ and how the russians view them. It doesnt help that Chechnya has sent about 12k members of their military (and thats already caused issues between the Russian MoD and the wingnut running Chechnya).

So far Ukraine has exceeded expectations, which really is pissing off Putin. To be honest even if things go bad for Ukraine I wouldnt count them out.
