I wish we could do more, and more quickly.
Thank you for your effort there, and to bring first hand accounts here.
Have you seen this yet:
Key Takeaways
* Russian forces are consolidating and preparing for further operations along the western and eastern outskirts of Kyiv, especially in the Irpin area in the west and the Brovary area in the east;
* Ukrainian forces are challenging the extended Russian lines reaching from Sumy, which Russian forces have not yet taken, to the eastern outskirts of Kyiv;
* Russian troops are likely attempting to bypass Mykolayiv and cross the Southern Bug upriver of that city to permit an advance on Odesa combined with an impending amphibious operation against that city; and
* Russian forces are also driving north from Crimea toward the city of Zaporizhya.
Andrey Kozyrev, a former foreign minister, laid out reasons Putin may have misjudged his invasion.
He suggested Putin had overestimated the Russian military — while Putin has dedicated billions of dollars to modernizing Russia's forces, this money, Kozyrev claimed, may have been lost to endemic corruption.
He claimed Putin had overestimated Russia's military, not realizing its budget had been embezzled.
Russia's invasion of Ukraine has been met with tough Ukrainian resistance.
In a Twitter thread over the weekend, Andrey Kozyrev, who served as the foreign minister under President Boris Yeltsin in the 1990s, put forward what he said were misjudgments by President Vladimir Putin in ordering the invasion.
He suggested Putin had overestimated the Russian military — while Putin has dedicated billions of dollars to modernizing Russia's forces, this money, Kozyrev claimed, may have been lost to endemic corruption.
"The Kremlin spent the last 20 years trying to modernize its military. Much of that budget was stolen and spent on mega-yachts in Cyprus. But as a military advisor you cannot report that to the President. So they reported lies to him instead," Kozyrev wrote.

When they realized Kennedy was dead serious and risked it all calling their bluff, they pulled out.
That's not quite how it happened though. Kennedy didn't "risk it all", in fact he was very measured in his responses by not risking and instead instituting a blockade under the guise of a "quarantine" while using a back channel to allow the USSR an exit ramp through Turkey.

Russian ex-minister says invasion of Ukraine is stalling because officials stole from military budget for 'mega-yachts in Cyprus'
According to this article Putin is basically a crime lord, the head hancho of criminals in Russia. And basically the entire hierarchy in Russia is based on corruption. Selfish love of money, and hatred of human life:

Are you referring to a preemptive nuclear strike to prevent Putin's westward expansionism? Are you referring to NATO deploying conventional military forces in Ukraine?
