So if Poland equips Ukraine with planes, then Putin will have to be true to his word and declare war on Poland. Since the States enabled this, we are getting close to a place of no return. This is predictable as when all else fails they take you to war. The prize will be lots of gold in the vaults of Russia, a land of limitless resources, and much-untapped wealth. It will end any thoughts of economic depression. The only problem is it will probably end everything.

Yep. Pretty much that. Though I don't see Russia getting away with any resources. This would not be attack just against Poland. It would be attack against Nato.
If Nato would join in, pro Russian countries would join in. WWIII we're talking here. Very close and very real. Nothing like a movie. This would be a very dirty war. The end of any need for any resources because there would be no one to use them.

Nobody, sincerely, wants this outcome. We, rather, choose to watch the slaughter of innocent people, hoping that God will forgive us one day. Because these people will not.

Time is ticking to make a decision though. Negotiations are futile. Threat is real. Everyone needs to save faces. Elections are coming as well. Will Ukraine go till the last Ukrainian? Will Putin prevail?

There's lots to ponder about tonight.

I mostly agree, but zero russian supporting countries would get involved.

They just saw first hand that everything we've been saying about the decrepit russian military for 20+ years was not only correct, but significantly understated.

In the unlikely event you described, it would be U.S. vs. russia head to head, with a heavy dose of NATO, and putin KNOWS he has zero chance of any part of russia surviving that.

Zero.

You think an all out nuclear war has a winner?

No.

Not 'win'.

That would be dumb.

NOBODY 'wins'.

But one side WILL survive, and that ONE side is already known.

I suspect they may have decided to do it behind the scenes, but are not making it public in case of escalation.
Fair enough.

I was thinking the same thing. All this convo train about supplying and then instant denial. They know everybody is looking at them now.

We'll wait and see, I guess.

our government is dumb, but not THAT dumb.

i'm worried about something else. they've clearly pointed out how our jets look like.

ukrainians may grab some paint, add some white and red checkerboard to their planes, then pretend those are polish to drag us into a war - and whole NATO with us. i only hope russia won't fall for such cheap tricks, because ukraine sure as hell isn't above it.

you think russians are going to confuse old russian planes for an f35?

Because of a paint job?

Ukraine will receive old russian planes, not American made planes.

Was this sarcasm?

A paint job?

First when you say something ignorant (which you did) learn to admit it, don't double down.

They could paint whatever they want on the planes, and it wouldn't matter, that's not how they track them (or US war planes would be stripped of all physical markers before deployment).

As bad as Russian training is, they don't rely on visuals for identification, no way Poland would let take a jet and fly them into Ukraine without stripping them of everything that could possibly identify it as coming from Poland because nobody wants WW3, it would have to fly with Ukraine software/codes uploaded if it this pick up and fly to Ukraine was going to happen.

Everybody in the world knows Nato is supplying Ukraine, but fighter planes are different than automatic weapons and manpads, that would take it from regional fight to WW3 at the drop of a hat.

* - Russia is recruiting Syrian fighters to aid in the Ukraine invasion and help take Kyiv: report

Moscow is interested in Syrians who have experience with urban combat in hopes they can help Russian forces take Kyiv, Ukraine's capital and largest city, the officials said.

It was not clear how many Syrian fighters had been recruited or if any had already been deployed to Ukraine, though one official told The Journal some were already in Russia preparing.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on The Journal report.

Russia has been operating in Syria since 2015, when it launched a military intervention to help the Syrian government fight against rebels in the ongoing civil war.

Absurd.

I was making fun of someone's absurdity with the f35 statement.

The Government will urgently pass a sanctions law that could freeze Russian assets and close the country’s airspace and waters to Russian aircraft and ships, significantly ratcheting up New Zealand’s response to the invasion of Ukraine.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, in announcing the move on Monday afternoon, said New Zealand had to act outside the United Nations (UN) sanctions regime, previously favoured by the Government, as Russia had vetoed a resolution condemning its attack in the UN Security Council.

Article

I am deeply embarrassed and ashamed by the length of time Ardern's government took to make a modest move towards a saner approach towards the international situation. Moreover, I am not convinced that the sanctions regime will end Putin's war in Ukraine. But there is no reason for New Zealand to do business as normal with Russia.

You are not alone in feeling embarrassed about the leader of New Zealand (I am assuming you are a kiwi?). I am ashamed of Biden and my government and the games they play.

I think Ukraine would make an awesome ally. I wish I could say the same about my government.

I think the only way Putin will be stopped is either by the Russian people or a world war.
