Please show an example of my absurdity that I might reflect and learn from.

So what is your 'reason' for not wanting all russians to immediately leave all Ukraine as demanded by Ukraine's president?

Does he have more nuke plants to attack first?

Or hasn't murdered enough civilians yet?

I haven't said anything about not wanting Russians to leave Ukraine. Now we have went from Nazis and bio labs to Nuke plants and murder, all without me having to say anything! Smashing, I'm loving your ignorance and tomfoolery.

I wouldn't give you my reasons for anything you are disingenuous and I won't waste my time. I will repeat myself though. Everyone and their granny knows how this situation has developed it was well covered here on ATS back in the day. Posters like you can't be engaged on any serious level.

I'm in no position to demand anything from Russia, neither are you. I'm also not trying to explain away the Russian invasion of Ukraine, there's no need as all the information is already out there. I can see you are not interested that's why you can't be engaged on a serious level.
Oh I've figured out why but have been here long enough to avoid being baited by such as you.

If Russia is going to invade countries then why should those countries disarm?

Does not like the idea of bordering NATO, so he invades a sovereign state so that he can (er) border NATO!

It actually would be absurd to demand all Russians to be removed from Ukraine as they have lived there almost forever.

I think that demonstrates how unhinged Putin is. For the entire cold war Finland and Sweden remained neutral and Putin pushes them into NATO.

What I truly find interesting about the previous cold war (as i believe we've just entered a new phase of a second cold war) and now, is social media and the internet in general.

I think during cold war 1.0, had there been the level of communication - which has the ability to stoke fear in a more real-time environment - that exists today, we'd be living (or maybe not) in a totally different world right now. I think it's possible that countries such as you've mentioned like Finland and Sweden might already be NATO member states.

Possibly but in your situation above does the USSR survive or collapse? We still run into the issues of eastern block nations and wanting to get rid of Soviet occupation. I think if we had the level of communications back then like we do now, I think the USSR would still collapse but probably earlier than it did.

The US nor NATO invaded Ukraine and Russia is the only country that can stop it.

I'm honestly uncertain. The USSR had to collapse at the time, but in my hypothetical, if there was the same level of communication then as there is now, along with it would come the same level of ability to spread mis/disinformation more quickly to affected peoples. So if the former USSR was engaging troll farms the way they do today, it's also possible that it would have given bloc nations pause to push for dismantling by dividing them more evenly in USSR's favor.

I think that would have depended at the time - given the level of communication and feedback - how Gorbachev would have processed that information. If he saw there was mass uprising against occupation digitally, he may well have engaged with Reagan far sooner than later. If not, he may never have entertained the idea. This is why i hate even my own hypotheticals.

You make some good points though.. I think this is one hypothetical that creates more questions than it solves.

As a reminder -

Just so people know and understand. Information from war zones can become confusing as there will no doubt be info released from the players (on both sides) involved that might not necessarily be true.

As such take everything as a possibility and NOT as absolute truth.
