Expected 80 to 90% drop, this FAR exceeds wildest hopes.

To put that 430b loss into perspective, that's equal to 75% of all reserves at russia's central bank.

Not a typo.

It seems nobody is interested in doing any business with russia anymore, sanctions or not.



I'm now more convinced than ever that this will end in a complete russian evacuation of Ukraine, with possible exception of the naval base.

No idea on timing yet though, too many remaining variables. Best guess is 2-3 weeks.

Still not sure if putin remains as russian leader, but looking a little less likely.



Russia simply can't survive the level of absolute global determination lined up against what putin did for very long.

Such pariah status that individual tanker captains are refusing to service Russian ships at sea.

Everything is ruble.

This means that just about EVERY russian is facing big problems.

I don't know, but don't recall noticing any before.

The Ukrainian mobilization of citizenry for defense is a direct outcome of the "green men" takeover of Crimea in 2014.

At that point, a lot of countries in eastern Europe grasped that the Russian military could seize part of their territory and then rattle a nuclear-armed saber if anyone tried to force them out by conventional means.

Ukraine is hardly the only European power that has organized such territorial forces. Their primary objective is to limit to an absolute minimum the amount of territory that is lost.

Like all military innovations, "hybrid warfare" produces counter-measures.

Dictators have a habit of holding on. He'll likely survive and turn Ukraine into Hell before he dies, alongside the ruination of Russia. Putin's legacy will not be the one he hoped, that's for sure.

Perhaps the point will come when his military simply refuses to carry on. That would be his end.
