You started this post because you offended someone who decided they didn't want to do business with you. Nothing politically correct here, you were whining.

When did I claim to be politically correct?

Pussification of America. Someone always gets butthurt. You have your beliefs....he has his. Keep your money and keep on a keeping. Ain't no thing but a chinken Wang.

Love it, catfish! You got it right. Somebody is always crying because they're butthurt over something somebody else says or believes.

I have one of those flags, folded nicely in a triangle, that was presented to me at a funeral, taken from a flag draped coffin and presented to me. I hope not to receive any more like that, but chances are, since we are all about war, it may just happen again. I keep it in a case and am holding it for my daughter.

Know what I cry about? When I'm at a social gathering in which they sing the national anthem. I just cannot put my hand over my heart anymore. I see the flag and I cry over what it has come to represent....and how far we as a country have fallen. How ignorant the citizens are now of our heritage, and the brave men and women who fought to create, and then protect, this nation. We have gotten spoiled, flaccid, fat, and stupid.

My heart cries bitter tears seeing our devolution into idiocracy. How easily we are fooled, led astray, and led into crowded cattle pens, while we're told that we're free. Our rights are whittled away, one at a time, and people say that it's for the "good of the country", so that we can be "safe".

Our last vestige of freedom is free speech, and freedom of expression. The OP sees her country as in distress, and many agree. I find that the people who are quoting how to handle the American flag, and the various little rules regarding its use, have no problem with our constitution being not followed as it was written. Which is more important? A rectangle of cloth, or the constitution and the bill of rights? If the constitution is being ignored, I think it's fair game to use the flag in such a way as to indicate distress over that fact.

Just my own opinion, however. If you're butthurt over it, I'll donate some cheese for your whine-fest.

I have a couple of those flags too, and I never hope to receive another. I still hold my hand over my heart, or stand at attention and salute, because I love this country. What makes me cry is that I see threads like this, with so many asshats commenting against the government that I served for 7 years. Yeah, I am in the whiskey, and pretty much going to call it the way I see it. 13 years ago, GWB got elected, we got hurt bad in 2001, they pretty much let him and Cheney (an asshat to the nth degree) pass anything they wanted to, got into 2 wars, 1 with no justification, and we are still in both places. After 8 years of Bush, OMG, a man that was half African got elected, and half of America lost there ever loving minds. The evangelical asshats that would like to have a theocracy in this country, I would tell you to go to the devil that I don't believe in. The racists need to get over them bad selves and realize that we all bleed red. To the far right and the the far left, the middle of this country is stronger than you will ever be. Go burn crosses or weed, but let those of us in the middle actually handle the government, we do a better job, we actually have some common sense.

He can do whatever he wants. It's his right just like yours to fly the flag upside down. I amazes me how people get upset because someone else doesn't believe what you do. Just deal with it.

Many of you seem to be under the impression that I'm extremely hurt/upset/sad about Car Dude's decision, or that I'm still dying to buy a car off the guy.

Let me clear that up for you.

I've never encountered anything like that outside of the internet and I was genuinely confused and totally caught off guard by his reaction, and not sad/butthurt/upset/distraught/angry/still wanting to buy a car from him, as many of you are assuming.

Again with the assumptions. You know what they say about assuming, right?

You started a thread about it on a conspiracy site, hmm, let me think about this. All kinds of really screwed up things happen in my life, and I don't start a thread.

NDAA, Patriot Act, Loss of freedom of movement, forced consumerism, Iraq, Libya, Egypt and Syria and Yemen now too, Police Brutality and Militarization of the Police force, Homeland Security...the list can go on for days now....

And all this things came up the minute Obama was elected, and "Impeaching Obama" will correct all of this?

So you're saying that Obama (!!) is not only the reason for the economic collapse, but ALSO the reason for, say, Homeland Security, Patriotic Act, NDAA, NSA Spying etc..etc... ALL THIS started ever since Obama got into office ?

I am saying this because I lived in the states BEFORE Obama was elected, and all the above topics were already "hot" back then.

Oh, let's just give ONE, ONE SINGLE EXAMPLE: NSA PRISM, the recently heavily debated NSA spying program for social networking sites. This program operates since 2007. Obama came into office in 2009. (I am now imagining grinding gears in someone's head...waiting whether someone mentally comprehends what I am saying. Hint: It does NOT require an IQ of 150+)

My neighbor flies his flag upside down and has generally gotten positive comments. He has gotten two negative comments, both from Obama supporters.
We are in Sierra Vista, AZ.

Have you checked on him, is he in distress?

Unless you are in immediete danger in your home, ie: about to freeze to death, starving, or suffering life threatening injury that you require outside assistance for, (hint: affordable healthcare doesnt qualify as immediete danger) then flying the flag this way is disrespectful, and frankly, stupid.

Teams continue to play sports, people go to work and school, and quite honestly I think anyone who flys this flag should be arrested for falsely declaring an emergency, and if you really think we are in a day to day emergency, you should AT LEAST be put on a mental health risk, and not permitted to purchase firearms, explosives, or maybe even bleach for that matter.

I wouldn't do business with you either.

Gotcher panties in a wad...huh....

What lala land do you live in. Oh, it must be all Rainbows and Unicorns...for if you lived in the Untied States, and pulled your head out of your netherlands...you'd be able to see, this once Great Nation, is indeed in distress.

Why don't you visit your local Veteran's Hospital, and repeat your above speech to them. I'm positive they need a good laugh.

Yes, I am flying my Old Glory upside down....no one is breaking down my door to arrest me, nor cart me off to a mental hospital. Nor confiscating my firearms. I think they like me sitting here funding their chaos with my taxes. If flying my Flag in a National symbol of distress scares you that much....It's well worth it.

Des

Please provide your facts for this great distress, I was treated at the VA medical center today. Spoke to a great many other vets, and they all seemed happy with the treatment they were receiving.

The day one innocent person died in a drone strike - hit a school, a wedding...
no matter where in the world it was - and carried on with impunity...

Was the day this administration, the one before it and every official involved - became complicit in war crimes against humanity. Period. We ALL bleed red, no matter where in the world we reside. People are NEVER collateral damage.

If you believe in inalienable rights such as a trial and a right to plead your innocence and be proven guilty - then those rights don't just exist for American's, those rights exist for all.

I say fly that flag upside down if you got the guts to do so. America has lost it's way. Soon it will be our own sky filled with drones, and our own innocent citizens dying in collateral damage hunting down terrorists.

Krakatoa

Krakatoa
Here's a recent example of someone having her property seized for no good reason. I'll bet she is in distress, so how long will it be until more governmental bodies follow this example.

Seattle seizes elderly woman's parking lot to turn it into -- a parking lot

The City Council voted Monday to use its power of eminent domain to acquire the lot owned by Spokane resident Myrtle Woldson, who has repeatedly turned down offers to purchase the property

Myrtle Woldson

[She] refuses to lease space to the city while it tries to make up for lost parking during the tunnel dig. So instead, the city council will attempt to condemn the property and take it over

This is not the federal government, this is the local government that the right loves so well. Holy bat crap insanity, when will people realize we have multiple levels of government in this country. Everything that is screwed up in our lives is not the fault of the federal government.

And when will people ACTUALLY read the posts? Read it again, I said "governmental bodies", which covers state and local. It starts off at that level, and expands like a hydra....that's the point.

Sorry, I misread, but your report of a local government seizure of property has absolutely nothing to do with this thread.

There are those that will live in their bubble of comfort, their bubble of denial, until they can't anymore.

Usually though, by then it's too damned late.

Our country is screwed up. The folks claiming that all is well were the same ones commenting on the view of the listing ship as the Titanic sank.

We are all Davids against Goliaths. And I can see by this thread we have our Wormtongues here as well. The right are ridiculed, hospitalized, and even jailed. The wrong are fined without any admission of guilt on their part and their money paves the way for more of the same.

Germany is still there.

China is still there.

Zimbabwe is STILL there.

Simply saying we are still here is not a recommendation. Life is about more than simple existence.

Its about not committing treasonous acts with terrorists. Its about not printing up bills you cannot back. Its about living without forced consumerism. Its not about living in a land where your private conversations are listened to by outside entities, where there is a database that links you to everyone you have ever written a letter to and spoken to. Its not about living in fear from the police.

Its about fiscal responsibility. Its about keeping your enemies at arms length and not crawling into bed with them. Its about freedom of movement. Its about the freedom to have private conversations. Its about the freedom to not have a tyrannical government telling you what you have to purchase. Its the freedom to be free.

I do not want to live in the American Federal Empire. I want to live in America, the Land of the FREE.

I cannot be pacified by the bread and circus. I want what my forefathers died for.

After having served in the military, we have not lived in your free America for more than 50 years. It is an illusion, our government has spied on us for as long as they have been able. Ask the mob if you don't believe me.

Folks, I'm nothing but nice and fluffy so I'm going to things in perspective for those of you who have found issue with the OP and others.

I hate olives. I think that they are an abomination to martini's world-wide. I can't stand them.

But the next time I am in a nice saloon and see a person take an olive or (shudder) two, I will not go up to them and tell them what complete idiots they are because people have a right and freedoms to do what they want to do.
