We'll I guess you can lump that guys short sighted business sense in with Chik-Fil a & Barila Pasta. Businesses should stay out of political and social debates. Not only can it cause adverse affect on their business, but word of mouth can ruin their reputation.

I'm surprised this guy didn't remain neutral no matter how much the upside down flag offended him. It's his right to refuse doing business, but in the long run, it's just poor business practice.

We've only kicked that can 78 times already.

Maybe there is no can.

It isn't the can your kicking, it's only yourself.

Well it's plain to see there's a theme in this thread, the OP and her supporters have essentially said the following.

- Obama should be impeached.

- More guns means less deaths

- Socialism is bad

- Nobody but me is allowed an opinion

- Were massive drama queens and we're flying our flags in a way that is usually reserved for natural disasters or attacks or tragedies, just because we don't like the president.

As a few have pointed out, it's pretty sad.

So again, I ask: what's the big difference between George W Bush and Barack Obama? The main difference I see is the color of their skins.

Bush did not turn the Patriot Act inward (not defending Bush's version of it, but there is a world of difference), Under Obama we scarcely even pretend to be "fighting terrorism" that was hammered at us as being the enemy under Bush. Now it's people like me who are the focus of the fear mongering... Americans who support the Constitution and question federal overreaches of authority. That is a massive change between the two men.

My taxes never went up under Bush. I was able to keep more of the fruits of my labors. Since Obama has entered office, my taxes have increased every year PLUS my insurance now costs more (by several times over) than it ever did under GWB.

My industry (Civil Engineering, specifically on the mining and construction side) has faced a huge uphill battle under Obama's far reaching and accelerated environmental policies. Meanwhile, my utility bills have climbed, climbed, climbed while the US has sold natural gas to Japan and coal to China at dirt cheap rates because Obama has shuttered or mandated the shuttering of numerous coal fire electric plants and has obstructed every effort to build a national natural gas pipeline.

My firearms were never attacked under Bush. Under Obama that has been routine.

Call me a royal prick for this, but GWB was bad for foreigners, good for Americans. Obama has been exactly the opposite while using the foundation GWB laid to manage to get most of his worst policies enacted.

I was (and was is the key word here) a supporter of Bush... but I saw the writing on the wall for those bills to be turned inward.. Its actually why there was such an outcry about it.

Back then, it was the democrats screaming how it could be misused and stomping their feet how they never wanted the ability for that to happen.

But, put a democrat in office, and a black one at that so you have minority support and can play the race card every time someone disagrees, and those policies got turned inward hardcore. And In such a short time it was beyond even my wildest expectations...

I thought back then, the people will never allow it to happen. Really. I thought all the people would be rioting in the streets over such a thing and the government just could never dare...But I guess if the president is black and you have all this minority support, and the people get their bread and circus, and you can play the race card, very few people seem bothered about any of this.

BECAUSE all this was done by both parties, the democrats only finishing what was started by the republicans, has led me to believe at current moment there is no difference between the parties.. and we need a new "something" in this country.

At current moment, they are all wrong, no matter what lies they spew, and they all need to be replaced by logical people with common sense and business smarts, who love what this country is supposed to stand for.

At current moment, its not anyone in either party. Playing party lines only plays into their hands.

But I agree with you, it was better under Bush than it is now... much much better. I voted for Obama the first time because of Bush. I had never in my life been more wrong. The problem is however, it could have been done, and was done, by the republicans too...

They just got away with it, because of the race card. And racist I am not...Obama should be impeached, something I never felt about Bush, but not without replacing every single person in Washington today... they ALL need to go. Without the republicans, this would not have been possible, without the democrats "boy" it could never have happened.

Thank you sir for so much. Thank you for not losing your respect. I don't know where some of these people are going to escape to when they allow our country to fall with all this lack of patriotism and hate for other americans.

I am a senior citizen woman and never had to serve, but as mothers, sisters, wives, we sent many of our men to WW2, Korea, Viet Nam. Some never came back and I just think it would shock them to see the Flag treated with the respect they give toilet paper.

All Due Respect Ma'am. I want to *thank you* so much, I *thank you* for making it possible for our constitution to be disrespected. I *thank you* for allowing our constitution to be treated like toilet paper.

I *thank you* so much for making it possible for my grandchildren to live in a socialist / communist society and supporting that society.

I *thank you* for helping to make this country so that when our brave men and women come home today from wars overseas they realized they just fought for nothing.

Make sure the next time you allow our constitution to be treated like toilet paper, you realize your social security check is next.

*(please note the sarcasm interjected)

Sorry.

I think that I see now this is so much more than about the Flag. "Ye reap what ye sew".

But, I know that it will work out. Everything in the universe has an ending.

It wont "work out" unless we take a stand and say "NO MORE". It wont work out unless we make real and lasting changes to reverse that which has long ago been set into motion...

I am making my stand. Digging my heels in right here and now. What my forefathers fought for will not be disrespected. It was a wonderful thing... I intend to keep it an integral part of all our lives.

And your right, in the end, somehow, some way, it WILL all work out. But our job now, is to make it work out for the better. And that wont happen unless we start putting some effort into it.

I say forget the car salesman jerk. Did he even ask WHY the flag was upside down? No.. he didn't bother to learn about the situation at all. This shows how ignorant he is. You guys should now be happy not to have to do business with dummy.

I'm sure there are tons of open minded real Americans in your area who will be proud to do business with you - don't sweat the small stuff.

I have no problem with people expressing themselves. I cherish that freedom. In fact, the best part about freedom of expression, is that you have the freedom to be wrong. Just don't get mad when someone decides to use their own freedom of expression to call out the insanity, when they are finally tired of hearing about it.

Oh brother! So you decide what is sane now? I think it is you who are not only espousing an insane view, but you are delusional enough to assume that your opinion is the only correct one. You think that nothing is wrong with this country, everything is hunky-dory, and we aren't going down the drain.

Alrighty then. As long as sports teams are playing and some people are working, everything is peaches and cream.

I find it particularly interesting that, in your original post, you wanted the OP's freedoms removed because you didn't agree with how she flew her flag. How quickly you forgot that! You cherish YOUR freedom to tell somebody else that you've decided that they should lose theirs. Awesome. Bet you don't see the hypocrisy, though. It's hard to view things properly when one's head is nestled in a tight orifice.

Please kindly direct me to the post where I said the op should have any right removed. Thanks.

Well, right now, I am taking care of a disabled husband and grandchildren while their parents work for dead end jobs. And trying to stay alive myself at 62 to keep my world off the streets.

I worked for 42 years as a nurse aide. I have old wounds that keep me in bed, but I have to keep going. So do you. Put your anger to good work instead of making judgements about other people's desparate lives.

A bit over the top? That is your opinion and you have a right to it, but I dont think so, not considering everything... NDAA, Patriot Act, Loss of freedom of movement, forced consumerism, Iraq, Libya, Egypt and Syria and Yemen now too, Police Brutality and Militarization of the Police force, Homeland Security...the list can go on for days now.... and Its all adding up to a very very very bad thing...

The middle needs to make some noise you say? I say they are! They have begun flying their flags upside down!

edit on 25-10-2013 by OpinionatedB because: (no reason given)

The middle needs to make some noise, some of those are Bush, some Obama, far right and far left are screaming so loud, that no one in the middle can be heard. The middle is not flying their flags upside down, only the far right, the middle are working everyday trying to make a living and support their families.

Do you really think anyone in the middle is participating in these ridiculous upside down flag wavings? Really? I'm sorry you think that behavior is anything left of extreme right wing.

I think I understand now why so many tea partition types think Obama is a socialist. There are indeed socialists in this country, many proudly so and at least one member of congress describes themselves as such. As much as I wish Barack Obama was one, he is center left at best.

I don't judge anyone. I work 6 days a week in more pain than anyone could really imagine just to keep our world going. I have a daughter who is dying of cancer and have all those concerns and worries. I have two grandchildren who will soon be without their mother.

I am like anyone else in this country. Barely making ends meet and just trying to stay afloat.

However, I just wont tolerate the direction this country is headed. I will speak out against the government. I will speak about what is wrong in every spare second I have. Why? Because I have grandchildren I have to worry about....

My father and all his fathers before him fought so I could live in a free country, so I had the freedom to make my mistakes and be whoever I wanted to be...

I'll be damned if they fought for nothing. I'll be damned if I allow for my grandchildren and great grandchildren to live under anything other than what our forefathers tried to give to us.

Anyone who is so far to the left of Obama that they perceive him as a centerest, is firmly entrenched in the communist camp.

The entire political spectrum in America, has shifted violently to the left in the last 30 years. What is centerest now, is what used to be far left democrat. What is far right now, is what used to be centerest. And what is far left now, is what gave us the likes of the cold war in the 20th century. So, by identifying Obama as centerest, you place yourself firmly on the new political spectrum.

What used to be far right, is no more. And without a balance of a true right and left dichotomy, there is no give and take, its all going to be take.

On the old political spectrum, I probably would have been center left, now, on the new political spectrum, I am far to the right. Which is honestly, truly weird...

The flag is something special, when it represents freedom. When it is representative of what we have right now... its a sad piece of cloth

Thank you for your prayers. And yeah, there are days.... but I get through it. I am my fathers child.
