He can do whatever he wants. It's his right just like yours to fly the flag upside down. I amazes me how people get upset because someone else doesn't believe what you do. Just deal with it.

Many of you seem to be under the impression that I'm extremely hurt/upset/sad about Car Dude's decision, or that I'm still dying to buy a car off the guy.

Let me clear that up for you.

I've never encountered anything like that outside of the internet and I was genuinely confused and totally caught off guard by his reaction, and not sad/butthurt/upset/distraught/angry/still wanting to buy a car from him, as many of you are assuming.

Again with the assumptions. You know what they say about assuming, right?

Well said OP.

"It makes an ass out of you and me."

I am often surprised though at just how many people choose not to filter and scrutinize what they watch, listen to or read off of political commentary outlets. This type of media is mostly opinion based and serves to divide more than it does to benefit. I won't name any names, but regardless of where people stand on the political spectrum, I am sure that we can all see that the problem lies on both sides. We seriously need a dog gone "revolution of thought" in this country.

Well, I never had to serve, so I guess I cannot speak for those who did and died on foreign soil. I can only empathize.

There are PLENTY of current military and veterans who are flying flags upside down.
I wonder if there would refuse service to them.

The flag doesn't represent the people anymore. It used to stand for something... not anymore. You cant deny the flag has been used in wars of aggression, used to annex and rob smaller countries of their sovereignty, (financial and otherwise) Used to trump that 'freedom' word but at night spies on every single American and American allies overseas. Openly lies to us everyday, and when confronted with a lie, it denies that it has lied about lying. could go on and on...

This flag has been used in so many nasty ways, there is nothing meaningful about it anymore. When people do see it, they don't see the American people, they see what the American people have allowed their government to do... and keep doing.

Well i am one veteran who says it still means something, I know personally from being in several countries around the world it is what the people think when they see our flag. It is not at all how you speak. I think we have problems but I thank God every day I live where I do.

You don't have to go far, go to Mexico, we have it good here. The sky is not falling. Is it perfect, no, is it something that can't be fixed, no it can. Come on people, we are Americans, our flag does mean something. Our families built this nation and you are so ready to give up on it.

There are ways to protest without putting the rest of us down, especially us veterans. It is our flag, not the government's. If you want to protest, go for it but don't do it in a way that is disrespecting to all of us.

Protest Obama, congress, all of them, but not all of us, that is what you are doing.

I know I still live in the greatest country in the world and would not want to live anywhere else.

Like you fly don't tread on me and then our flag upside down, I would say you just tread on yourself....

Unless you are in immediete danger in your home, ie: about to freeze to death, starving, or suffering life threatening injury that you require outside assistance for, (hint: affordable healthcare doesnt qualify as immediete danger) then flying the flag this way is disrespectful, and frankly, stupid.

Teams continue to play sports, people go to work and school, and quite honestly I think anyone who flys this flag should be arrested for falsely declaring an emergency, and if you really think we are in a day to day emergency, you should AT LEAST be put on a mental health risk, and not permitted to purchase firearms, explosives, or maybe even bleach for that matter.

I wouldn't do business with you either.

It is just this exact attitude and response to those that in the past claimed the govt was tapping all of our communications. They were "weird" or "crazy and needed mental help". Well, it seems reality has recently slapped everyone of those detractors in the face with Snowden's release of proof. So, when will the proof of the nations distress be openly disclosed and slap you in the face? Hopefully, it will not be too late at that point to avoid the unspeakable outcome of your (and others) "ostrichification".

Right you are, of course.

However . . . there is some progress.

When I joined ATS, there were very few of us alert to globalism's traitorousness . . . and we typically got dumped on very harshly in spite of the T&C . . . even by liberal mods--which seemed to be a huge majority of them. LOL.

Now, there's a lot of us who see some degree of the light about the satanic globalists and their genocidal plans to exterminate 6.8 billion people etc. etc. etc.

I don't think even massive numbers will change the script. The Bible is pretty clear about the basic outline.

However, alert patriots might be able to change things locally . . . and prepping has got to be better than not prepping.

I'm just convinced that God alone is going to be any dependable refuge at all.

Gotcher panties in a wad...huh....

What lala land do you live in. Oh, it must be all Rainbows and Unicorns...for if you lived in the Untied States, and pulled your head out of your netherlands...you'd be able to see, this once Great Nation, is indeed in distress.

Why don't you visit your local Veteran's Hospital, and repeat your above speech to them. I'm positive they need a good laugh.

Yes, I am flying my Old Glory upside down....no one is breaking down my door to arrest me, nor cart me off to a mental hospital. Nor confiscating my firearms. I think they like me sitting here funding their chaos with my taxes. If flying my Flag in a National symbol of distress scares you that much....It's well worth it.

I have no problem with people flying a flag upside down or the ideology here, I do have a problem with people's reading comprehension. Under the flag code the flag is flown upside down in an instance(single event) of distress. What people here are doing here is a political protest, not alerting others to a distress. The First amendment gives you the right to fly it upside down so, why are you trying to hide behind the Flag code. Grow up, stand up strait and have the courage to tell people that you are doing it to protest the status quo.

By everyone's loose definition of distress the flag should have been flown upside down ever since it was created.

I knew full well that I would receive some back lash from some when I posted this thread. It was expected. And honestly? I don't care if anyone thinks I'm "crazy" with my "crazy flag" waving.

Remember, that I didn't hang the flag myself or put up the sign. While in general, I agree with the premise and don't mind the sentiment, it wasn't my doing personally. My sign would probably say something very different, and I may put up my own. We talked last night and plan to put up a different sign every couple of weeks.

This thread has turned into posts about Obama, Bush and the Tea Party when that is NOT what the original topic was. The topic was the care salesman's reneging of a previously made deal because of his differing political ideology.

Please stay on topic or find another thread to derail.

Sorry, your propaganda doesn't work here. You don't get to declare anyone who disagrees with you, and points out why you may be in the wrong, and not the salesman, as derailing. Pretty much everything in this thread has been very directly related to your topic.

You have all the right in the world to fly your flag up side down, and he has the same right to not serve you because of it. I'm not saying he's not a moron either.
I own a cabinet shop and I get a customer stopping with a paid for with union wages bumper sticker.
I always ask him if I should quote him union pay scale. He doesn't think I'm very funny. The point is when you make a statement of any kind you are subject to the response of others.

Here's a recent example of someone having her property seized for no good reason. I'll bet she is in distress, so how long will it be until more governmental bodies follow this example.

Seattle seizes elderly woman's parking lot to turn it into -- a parking lot

The City Council voted Monday to use its power of eminent domain to acquire the lot owned by Spokane resident Myrtle Woldson, who has repeatedly turned down offers to purchase the property

Myrtle Woldson

[She] refuses to lease space to the city while it tries to make up for lost parking during the tunnel dig. So instead, the city council will attempt to condemn the property and take it over

This is not the federal government, this is the local government that the right loves so well. Holy bat crap insanity, when will people realize we have multiple levels of government in this country. Everything that is screwed up in our lives is not the fault of the federal government.

And when will people ACTUALLY read the posts? Read it again, I said "governmental bodies", which covers state and local. It starts off at that level, and expands like a hydra....that's the point.

Sports thrived in Nazi Germany too! See: www.abseits-soccer.com...

Education was also crucial in Nazi Germany: www.theholocaustexplained.org...

As Far as business, well... Germany went into a depression and was facing huge numbers of unemployed BEFORE hitler came to power.... Actually, his promises are what got him elected in the first place... and yes, for a time... businesses did quite well under his policies... and unemployment was down too...

even if it was a false impression of unemployment being severely decreased.. (ya know.. kind of like our current "if you work part time you are not unemployed" theme in the United States today regardless of ability to feed your family)

Perhaps if more Germans at the time thought what Hitler was doing was outrageous and criminal instead of possibly good because they had their bread and circus, things would have gone a bit different back then for the world.
