All is well until what, February 17th?

Kicking the can down the road can only continue for so long. We'll eventually have to address the problem.

Oh it'll be okay

We've only kicked that can 78 times already. We can probably just go on like that forever, and ever, and ever, and everything will be just fine.

I should add that 78 IS a real figure, although some researchers have claimed its higher.

A bit over the top? That is your opinion and you have a right to it, but I dont think so, not considering everything... NDAA, Patriot Act, Loss of freedom of movement, forced consumerism, Iraq, Libya, Egypt and Syria and Yemen now too, Police Brutality and Militarization of the Police force, Homeland Security...the list can go on for days now.... and Its all adding up to a very very very bad thing...

The middle needs to make some noise you say? I say they are! They have begun flying their flags upside down!

The middle needs to make some noise, some of those are Bush, some Obama, far right and far left are screaming so loud, that no one in the middle can be heard. The middle is not flying their flags upside down, only the far right, the middle are working everyday trying to make a living and support their families.

You are wrong. The OP was not about impeaching Obama...you want to make it like it was, but it wasn't. If you had bothered to read a post further along by the OP, she clearly stated that was not what this thread was about.

See, your stomping of widdle feets, was all for nothing. Do you feel better after letting your spittle fly in the wrong direction?

The middle is making noise. The middle is making statements.

It's just that the effing "left" keeps calling them the "far right".

There are those that will live in their bubble of comfort, their bubble of denial, until they can't anymore.

You are just..plain wrong.

I do not think that many people whatsoever think that "everything is alright" in this country. Neither the oh-so-hated liberals, dems or reps. Where, for god's sake...is a bubble of comfort these days, UNLESS you are some wealthy *****er who won't have to care about problems exist today? So....who exactly is "in denial"? And..WHY are they supposed to be in denial?

You started this post because you offended someone who decided they didn't want to do business with you. Nothing politically correct here, you were whining.

When did I claim to be politically correct?

I was being politically correct here, and you were whining. OMG, we put up this sign, and now this guy won't do business with us. Seriously, your display is appalling, and if this guy didn't want to do business, his choice. You are of no protected class from your avatar, get on with your life, and find someone else to do business with. Why whine on the internet?

Good question!

You neglected to list those that owe their entire livelihood to entitlements. They think everything is alright because they are taken care of. The bubble of comfort has grown huge. You can still own a computer, tv, phone, air conditioner, microwave, and be considered "poor".
There are those that are hurting, but they to, live in a bubble of denial because their ideological stance won't permit them to criticize their "dear leader".

But by all means, please blame the successful, the hard working people who have prepared for such disasters and do not rely on government teats for survival.

Beez, I always enjoy your comments, don't always agree, but they give me something to think about. I think you are wrong on this one, the majority in America, although in some cases it might be a small one, agree with abortion, legalized weed, welfare, food stamps, gay marriage, healthcare, etc. The tea party is not the middle, and unfortunately they seem to be the only ones making statements lately.

I'm Tea party.
I hate abortions.
I like weed legalization.
Welfare and food stamps have risen to record proportions recently.
I'm all for gay marriage.
Healthcare should be up to the individual.

I AM THE MIDDLE.
I AM THE TEA PARTY.

Quit the hating. Really. Just quit it.

Now.

Here's a recent example of someone having her property seized for no good reason. I'll bet she is in distress, so how long will it be until more governmental bodies follow this example.

Seattle seizes elderly woman's parking lot to turn it into -- a parking lot

The City Council voted Monday to use its power of eminent domain to acquire the lot owned by Spokane resident Myrtle Woldson, who has repeatedly turned down offers to purchase the property

Myrtle Woldson

[She] refuses to lease space to the city while it tries to make up for lost parking during the tunnel dig. So instead, the city council will attempt to condemn the property and take it over

This is not the federal government, this is the local government that the right loves so well. Holy bat crap insanity, when will people realize we have multiple levels of government in this country. Everything that is screwed up in our lives is not the fault of the federal government.

And when will people ACTUALLY read the posts? Read it again, I said "governmental bodies", which covers state and local. It starts off at that level, and expands like a hydra....that's the point.

Sorry, I misread, but your report of a local government seizure of property has absolutely nothing to do with this thread.

I beg to differ and do think it is related to this thread. It is an example of a governmental action that means an american citizen is in distress (their land is being seized from them without proper compensation), which is a violation of the U.S. Constitution. As a lone data point, it's nothing, but begin to collect all those data points and a very distressing pattern begins to emerge. It is a reason for the OP to feel that this country is in real distress from a domestic enemy.

If you choose to ignore the water slowly heating in your world, fine, but don't expect everyone not to notice it getting awfully hot and wanting to notify others.

I believe (and OP correct me if I am wrong) that was the main point of the actions of the OP with the statements she made, prompting the reaction by the car dealer.

You encountered the one of the many that have no clue as to how bad things really are . You're better off not dealing with this guy.... we all should fly our "distress" till we end the mess we are in.. if you have no clue then you're part of the problem if you want to know then you're part of the fix,,, if we only knew what the fix is voting seems to be not it for we just get the short end of the stick.

My first question would be how long have your ancestors been in North America, some of mine since 1621, have lost family on both sides of every conflict up to Korea.

Couple thousand years thanks to being German and French mixed with the Placquemine Indians of Louisiana, who were here a lot earlier than the 1600s. Most of the documented losses war-wise by my ancestors were the civil war and WWI.

Most wars are fought over Nationalistic Bullcrap, and have been since the beginning of time. There is a lot of things I would fight for too, and in fact I served for 7 years. Your post is full of bull that the right wing loves to spew, especially from those that have never served.

Thanks for your service and yes, I am about as right wing as anybody you'll ever run into. I appreciate the acknowledgement.

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

Yes, because we on the "far right" house our families in palaces made from elephant ivory while our children feast on the flesh of kittens and the tears of virgins...

Exactly what in the blue hell do you think most of us do, friend? Look around yourself for a moment... do you really believe there are that many independently wealthy people on ATS who can afford to spend all their days bitching and protesting just because Obama is a failure? Stop and think for just a moment... just. one. moment. PAUSE and think about it... what would make people burn their precious free time complaining about something you apparently find so insignificant? Could it possibly be that they feel passionate about the topic? I am far to the right, dude. (and brace yourself, I WORK for a living and times suck right now.) and it amuses me to see people I've watched on this website for years who I consider to be quite liberal minded and would actually say are quite a bit left of center get called "far right" by people who are too far to the left to even see the far right past their horizon.

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

the majority in America, although in some cases it might be a small one, agree with abortion, legalized weed, welfare, food stamps, gay marriage, healthcare, etc.

and you'd be wrong.

Abortion: www.gallup.com...
Vast majority (52%) support "legal in some cases" and 48% consider themselves pro life versus 45% pro choice. The current federal law is effectively zero federal regulations or restrictions... which is NOT what the majority, small or large, seem to want. STRIKE 1

Weed: Not a partisan issue, especially in regards to the TEA Party, which is mostly a libertarian movement. STRIKE 2

Welfare and food stamps: Counterproductive argument. As of today there are more people on welfare in the US than there are full time workers. How many welfare recipients do you suppose are against welfare and food stamps? If you said much higher than ZERO then you've never heard of not biting the hand that feeds you. This was intentional, too... the more dependent to your party's policies people you get in America, the more guaranteed votes you get on Nov. 6, 2012.

Gay Marriage: Don't recall the TEA Party ever saying anything about this one... Probably because they didn't. It's a non issue... doesn't equal a higher deficit or debt so who gives a flip one way or the other?

Healthcare: Yep, most Americans do love healthcare, it's the ACA and the idea of socialized medicine in general that they dislike. www.huffingtonpost.com... 45% is not greater than 50%, not even by a small margin. That's huffpo, by the way. I realize you'll probably accuse them of being far right as they don't support your opinion, but please resist the urge... Ariana needs all the support she can get to build the campaign purses of her favorite Democrat candidates next year.

Since you seem to have declared yourself the final arbiter of who is allowed to have an opinion in this country, as your arguments in this thread appear to indicate, let's clarify who those allowed people are, shall we? Anyone who is visibly in a protected class and anyone who has served in the military to a level of your satisfaction and espouses an opinion you agree with. Pretty much all the rest of us need to shut our mouths and what? Sacrifice kittens and hope it pleases your mood at any given drunken moment and maybe we'll also be allowed to have an opinion?

Please. Climb down off your cross and just accept that you aren't the only one allowed to have an opinion or experience that can be shared in public. The OP very clearly indicated that she didn't begrudge car dude his right to his own opinion, just that she was surprised that he, essentially, was willing to cut off his nose to spite his face, in a financial agreement that he backed out of, without even knowing what it was that he was disagreeing with, in a manner that the OP had only seen happen out of young children and people stomping their feet on the internet.

Look, when you take over the world and declare yourself the supreme ruler of all you survey - and can enforce it - you feel free to shut down your opposition if that's what floats your boat. Until then, the rest of us get to have an opinion whether you like it or not, I'm afraid.

Take care,
Cindi

So what gives? What on earth went on here?

What say you, ATS?

Let me recap.

You put a upside-down flag up and a sign "impeach Obama" and now you are all perplexed why not everyone is supporting your view? Are you FOR REAL?

Purdee much my thoughts on the matter.

Everyone is commenting on the upside down US flag aspect of it, but ignoring the Impeach Obama angle.

I'd imagine it is the total affect of these two plus the Don't Tread on Me Flag, which has apparently become the emblem of the Tea Party.

Free speech? Sure thing. But people are also free to join in commerce or not as well.

Impeach Obama? Sure, there are some good and legitimate reasons to do so, but there were at least as many to do the same to Bush II. Upside down national flag because of the distress of the nation? Sure, but there were plenty of reasons to do this when Bush II was president. The fact that people are only pulling these kinds of stunts under Obama, and didn't under Bush II suggests there is something more to it than just the state of the nation and the policies and crimes of the president. Hint: it has to do with race.

Let me be clear that I am not one of the Obamabots still blaiming Bush II for everything, but I really question the reasons why anyone is particularly exercised over Obama's presidency who didn't feel and act similarly during the reign of Bush II.

I used to have a long weekend drive every couple of weeks, and there were few food/drinking holes along the way, so I tried most of the more appealing ones. There was one interesting looking tavern that always flew the Stars and Bars. I never bothered to stop there for obvious reasons. I'm all for people flying their anti-freak flags high -- so I know to avoid them.

Race and fallacious ideology that Obama is a Kenyan, a communist, a socialist, a supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood, a tyrant, a dictator, a traitor, etc. when in fact he is a Republican-lite Democrat and clearly a tool of corporate interests -- which is exactly what Bush II was. So again, I ask: what's the big difference between George W Bush and Barack Obama? The main difference I see is the color of their skins. Just calling it as I see it, chief.
