Maybe this should be another thread. But can you clarify the meaning of the terms "what we have right now" or the other term "the wrong direction" concerning our country. Those are rhetorical terms that have history and encompass a lot. Something specific had to cause serious actions as flying the flag upside down, especially for veterans to do that.

It became obvious to the people who were watching in the 2000 elections. On old election maps the red used to be democrats and blue was republicans, and about the year 2000 they swapped the colors. Red was always associated in the old days with the left wing, the red army and that sort of thing. That's where you get the term pinko's, they aren't really red but they are on that end of the spectrum that they take the red tinge.

Now, After that in 2001, with the 9/11 and war on terror, the republicans started acting like reds, but the democrats never started acting like blues. So Bush started passing a bunch of laws that could be used later to shift us even further to the left, and so they have.

Now, the center is what used to be the left, and now what is right is what used to be the center, and now what is accepted as left in the USA is what gave us Chairman Mao and Lenin. But that has become acceptable as mainstream left in the US.

And now, we have things like RT, which is Russia's version of what the US used to run as Radio Free Europe, but its radio free America is what it boils down to, a news organization that has enough news to keep it relevant, but all with a propagandist spin. And people accept that as news, the news that our news people wont report on. And to begin comprehending the relevance of that, one only has to talk to an older Eastern European who used to listen to radio free Europe and discover what their attitude was toward that, and discover what the US attitude is toward RT now.

By pondering these things, one will begin to see the violent shift to the left the US has taken in the last several years. And the worst thing is that there are a bunch of people who do not remember those days, this is all they know and they think its always been this way. But you are old enough you should be able to remember the way it was.

And so you see why now flying the flag upside down is a reflection of the distress this country is undergoing.

Yes, I remember how it use to be. I was and voted republican, local and national, from Nixon thru Bush 2, not the second time though. That was when I became democrat because I never wanted to go to war in Iraq and was very against the implementation of Homeland Security, a very serious issue for me.

I liked the republican party when they put jobs first. Jobs was the only way their policies could succeed. I liked the republican party when it knew to accept laws once they were law. Sometimes, change will come.

Now, if the electoral is a rigged system, you are right, it is up to us to change it. But congress is not listening.

After reading your replies I have concluded that it may just be that you are in the wrong country. Might I interest you in leaving? There have been and continue to be many countries that espouse your beliefs that I think you would be very happy in. Because as long as there are people in this country that appreciate God given freedom and believe that they are made of better stuff than beer swilling drunkards glued to their TVs every Sunday afternoon there remains a very good possibility that this place may never become the socialist/communist/fascist mecca you so long for.

The Car Dude is typical of most Americans. They size up a situation, compare it to what is/isn't in their brain bank, and fire off a reaction and judgement. It's how the mainstream media jams complex issues down the throats of the average person-fast, and with a label. Thanks for sharing.

There were a whole lot more large protests when Bush was POTUS. But nothing really came of them. Lot's of calls for impeachment and even a film depicting his assassination.

Obama had what...Occupy? That's pretty much it. Just another fizzled protest that didn't accomplish a damn thing.

I wonder what would happen if those filmmakers depicted the current POTUS being assassinated. I guarantee that it would be in the headlines a lot longer than the previous film.

Back on topic though, I have already suggested that the OP sue the dealership. Take the idiot for all he is worth. Let's just call it a redistribution of wealth.

Without wanting to derail discussion, but still it is somewhat connected - should Bush be called for crimes against USA for lying about weapons of mass destruction and after acknowledging that he followed voices in his head that told him to attack Iraq?

It still amuses me that he managed to get second term... and kind of worries me at the same time.

As for dealer - according to law they might take him to court, but only if they can present sufficient proof.

Those voices that you speak of came from GOD.
In the mind of Bush jr. GOD would be Bush senior.
So there you have it he did the right thing LMAO
After all daddy was the director of the CIA at one point
in time and know as well as i They know everything.
Now let's get back to distress.
Which is what our good ol US of A is in at the moment.
Not years ago.
Theres no time like the present to fix a problem.

I have been hesitant to discuss my political views lately, with people I do not know. I keep things pretty close to the vest. I have several friends and neighbors that we are in a bartering system with, and most of us are preppers.

I find that when I do discuss things openly, people are either in total denial and they laugh about it, they think you're crazy, or they act a bit aggressive because the truth is scary.

My fiance and I, and those we surround ourselves with, are the people I'd be content to have in my circle if SHTF. We have sort of..... closed the gate.

For some intuitive reason, I feel the need to back into the shadows, keep prepping, and live life each day to the fullest. We have gone dark, if you will. I'm not feeling like the time is now for me to put myself out there and walk boldly and brazenly in the public eye.

I know what is coming
My family knows
We are preparing quietly
And I feel at this time, that's all that needs to be done.
When the time to stand up comes, then that's the time I will.

Hope this made sense.

I hear ya!

I was a Republican for all my life, up to King George (Bush) II. That is what put the final nail into the Republican coffin for me as well. However much I tried, however, I could not force myself to lurch to the left and become a Democrat. Instead, I struck off on my own, becoming an "Independent", since there was no longer any established party with my proclivities.

As an aside - perhaps - the accelerated takeover of America began right about the time of the color scheme switch, or slightly before, when the Neocons did a hostile takeover of the Republican party. Neocons, the original ones, anyhow, will tell you that a "Neocon" is just a "Reformed" leftist. I question just how "Reformed" they are after witnessing the travesty of the Bush years.

Republicans used to stand for a strong defense, while Democrats stood for a strong OFFENSE. Now both are virtually indistinguishable in that matter. Both seem to simply want to kill everything that is not them.

I've done at least my share of the fighting, but as time drags on and I get older, I get weary of it. That doesn't mean I'll ever stop, but it DOES mean that physics dictates a change in venue for me. Still, it's wearisome in ANY venue. As it stands right now, I find myself fighting against things here that I formerly fought against "over there" - which, I suppose, means I lost the first few rounds, and never got to keep them out of my own back yard, which was the intent way back when.

I don't even own a flag now. I have zero respect for what it has become. Once upon a time, it represented the People of America, the nation itself... but in recent years it has come to represent a single aspect of the nation - the government - which is no longer "for the People", and so the flag represents something other than what it did back in my day. I'll respect it again when it represents something that is respectable once again. Right now, the Gadsen Flag seem more representative of the People of America, and increasingly so with the dawning of each new draconian day.

I'm damned tired of sending our kids off to die in angry little foreign wars when the only angry little war that really matters is being lost right here, without even much of a fight, for lack of enough people motivated enough to engage on the only battlefield that matters. I'm damned tired of watching the nation I loved swirl down the crapper with each new day. Like a house that has been condemned, I'm increasingly coming to the opinion that it simply needs to be burnt down to the ground, and have a new one built over the ashes. The only concern I have is just what the new house would look like. I often wonder if there are enough people left in the US who prefer liberty over slavery to even drive a friggin' nail into it.

I watched the demise of the American Republic, live, and in color. I only stay alive now to watch hopefully for the demise of the American Federal Empire that replaced my beloved Republic when the People were distracted with sports, American Idol, and gadgets.

A wise man once told me that the time people are burying their guns is the precise time they really ought to be digging them up! Life is mostly a matter of timing, and most people are off by just a beat, which often times is just enough for evil to gain a foothold.

You should never be afraid to boldly speak your mind, but if you must be, then at least dig those guns back up before you back off into the shadows. Being in the shadows is sometimes good, but being armed in the shadows is always better.

Beezzer, you and I are both old War Dawgs. We've seen the elephant, and sometimes been slapped around by it's tusks. Being older, however, doesn't make us useless or irrelevant. There are a whole new crop of War Dawgs being raised in this very time, by the very policies that we so despise. Those new War Dawgs? They appear to despise them, too. Look at OB's avatar, of a Marine in uniform running the flag upside down. There's something about getting shot at that changes your perspective on what is and ain't important in life, regardless of generation.

I don't know about you, but I'm probably not fit to sleep in the mud and run carrying 80 pounds on my back for days any more... but that doesn't make me irrelevant, by any stretch of the imagination.

You and I have seen things, and made connections and formulated thought that the upcoming generation have not experienced, and have little to know knowledge of. They will need that, and people like you and I are the only place they're going to find it. When that is combined with what THEY have seen and experienced, mountains can be, and hopefully will be, moved.

My point was that everyday life isn't particularly that different then it ever has been. Life goes on. There is no revolution, there is no apocalypse. Are there problems? Sure. But those problems are low wages and unemployment/underemployment and other economic issues. Contrary to the beliefs of the loud vocal minority in this country, we aren't falling apart. I've heard that we are my whole life, and guess what, we're still here.

You call these problems, more like symptoms. A problem is two cops quarreling over whether or not the lady they just pulled over is actually allowed to possess a Constitution. A problem is a Govt. agency going around perpetuating the idea that the Founders were the "Original terrorist". A problem is an over bloated Govt. agency who looks at their returning vets as potential terrorists. A problem is being forced to purchase something you don't want or can't afford under the threat of incarceration. A problem is having your personal property stolen from you by your servant Govt. A problem is the average person unknowingly commits 3 felonies a day because no one can keep up with how many laws and growing. A problem is a guy who will claim everything is fine after reading this and not address these concerns which I might add don't come close to scratching the surface of the "problems" were having and where we will end up if we leave them unchecked.

And in an act of civil disobedience I didn't flip my flag, I flipped yours because you were too brainwashed to understand that your ship was sinking.

I'm getting to the age where being nice seems like a waste of time.
I just hope there are enough people willing to listen to those of us that have tasted dirt a time or two.

As for being able to take hills with 80lbs on my back? I now have to take pills just to get off my back!

I hear ya on having to take pills just to get off my back... hell sometimes I take pills just to be on my back a bit more comfortably...

But one thing all these years of torture and having to learn how to control the pain and not let the pain control me has taught me...

I can do any damn thing I want... especially when I have no other alternative. I am much stronger than I ever gave myself credit for... AND i am damn smart too! I can bury things here and there and here and there so I can avoid having to carry everything on my back all at once, and still have everything I need when I need it!

I'm getting to the age where being nice seems like a waste of time.

"It's nice to be nice, but this is neither the time nor the place."

Or, as was said by a character named "J.D. Larue" in the old 70's TV show "Hill Street Blues" - "It's nice to be loved, but there is a lot to be said for cringing respect".

I just hope there are enough people willing to listen to those of us that have tasted dirt a time or two.

I hope so too, but it's by no means a foregone conclusion. It makes me hopeful, though, that there is an increasing number of them willing to put out the distress signal of an upside down flag. It's an indicator of increasing awareness, that may show we ARE being heard.

It's a damned shame they can't hear us in DC, but if they don't start listening closely, the sounds and noise will just have to get closer! With more people listening, and willing to take the first step, I think it's very possible that it WILL get as close as it needs to in order to be heard. The recent kerfuffle over the planned US attack on Syria is indicative - it had to get pretty loud, from BOTH sides of the ideological divide, but it WAS heard in DC, and it DID make a difference.

Taking a drive through the countryside looking for upside down flags may be yet another way to get their attention. Where there is smoke, there is fire - and the upside down flags re just the smoke... they better get on top of quelling the fire. They can't arrest us all, so they better figure out a different approach... like listening to their constituency for a change.

Unless you are in immediete danger in your home, ie: about to freeze to death, starving, or suffering life threatening injury that you require outside assistance for, (hint: affordable healthcare doesnt qualify as immediete danger) then flying the flag this way is disrespectful, and frankly, stupid.

Teams continue to play sports, people go to work and school, and quite honestly I think anyone who flys this flag should be arrested for falsely declaring an emergency, and if you really think we are in a day to day emergency, you should AT LEAST be put on a mental health risk, and not permitted to purchase firearms, explosives, or maybe even bleach for that matter.

I wouldn't do business with you either.

Gotcher panties in a wad...huh....

What lala land do you live in. Oh, it must be all Rainbows and Unicorns...for if you lived in the Untied States, and pulled your head out of your netherlands...you'd be able to see, this once Great Nation, is indeed in distress.

Why don't you visit your local Veteran's Hospital, and repeat your above speech to them. I'm positive they need a good laugh.

Yes, I am flying my Old Glory upside down....no one is breaking down my door to arrest me, nor cart me off to a mental hospital. Nor confiscating my firearms. I think they like me sitting here funding their chaos with my taxes. If flying my Flag in a National symbol of distress scares you that much....It's well worth it.

Des

Listen he is right. Your not protesting anything you are showing ignorance. The county officer came by my neighbor and we stopped and talked about the flag. He said yes that it is a signal your life is in danger and that if the police rolled out to help you that you would be arrested. You would also be liable for all the cost incurred.

He was so appalled at the thought he checked with district attorney and yes they would be prosecuted.

As stated here it is not to be used as a sign of protest, it is a sign you are in direct threat.

You should not be surprised that people stand up for their flag.

I might even understand if you said let's all have one day where we do this together and then correct it. But that is not what you are doing.

You should all be held liable for this is not acceptable as form of protest.

I bet you all had a nice dinner, watched some TV, maybe had a glass of wine or a beer last night. You went to football games in your nice cars, then maybe had some food at the golden arches. Probably everyone will make at least one trip to Walmart, you will rake some leaves or cut the grass around your your cozy little house, how many of you own home and cars?

Ah yes how many will dress up in finest clothes and head to church on Sunday, yea then most will be watching nfl and shouting for their teams. You have children, are they healthy, fed, go to a good school. On Monday how many trod off to jobs.

Hmmmmm, you don't have it so bad after all. Life is actually pretty dam good. Is it perfect, could it be better, yes. But you have it so frigging good and you are whining and acting like a bunch of babies. Grow the F up.

Take a trip to Mexico, you don't have to go far, just across the border you still find folks living in a mud hut with no floor and no plumbing or running water, no electricity, but they are not complaining, they have a roof, so many don't.

Come on guys get real, take a good look at what you should be thankful for and what you have. At least we can vote them all out, will you, NO, lol you won't. You want to protest, start recall petition. Start a third independent party to force change. Force term limits. Instead of disrespecting your neighbors, which you obviously have done, March on Washington, do something constructive towards the changes you want.

Every single one of you here in America did some of those things I described, all of you. Stop being hypocritical. It's pathetic, you have good lives, great country, if you feel so badly about it give up all you have and go live somewhere else. You will very very quickly wish you were back home and that it was not so bad here after all......

I am saddened by hypocrisy.
