Maybe this should be another thread. But can you clarify the meaning of the terms "what we have right now" or the other term "the wrong direction" concerning our country. Those are rhetorical terms that have history and encompass a lot. Something specific had to cause serious actions as flying the flag upside down, especially for veterans to do that.

There were a whole lot more large protests when Bush was POTUS. But nothing really came of them. Lot's of calls for impeachment and even a film depicting his assassination.
Obama had what...Occupy? That's pretty much it. Just another fizzled protest that didn't accomplish a damn thing.
I wonder what would happen if those filmmakers depicted the current POTUS being assassinated. I guarantee that it would be in the headlines a lot longer than the previous film.
Back on topic though, I have already suggested that the OP sue the dealership. Take the idiot for all he is worth. Let's just call it a redistribution of wealth.
Without wanting to derail discussion, but still it is somewhat connected - should Bush be called for crimes against USA for lying about weapons of mass destruction and after acknowledging that he followed voices in his head that told him to attack Iraq?
It still amuses me that he managed to get second term... and kind of worries me at the same time.
As for dealer - according to law they might take him to court, but only if they can present sufficient proof.

I hear ya!
I was a Republican for all my life, up to King George (Bush) II. That is what put the final nail into the Republican coffin for me as well. However much I tried, however, I could not force myself to lurch to the left and become a Democrat. Instead, I struck off on my own, becoming an "Independent", since there was no longer any established party with my proclivities.
As an aside - perhaps - the accelerated takeover of America began right about the time of the color scheme switch, or slightly before, when the Neocons did a hostile takeover of the Republican party. Neocons, the original ones, anyhow, will tell you that a "Neocon" is just a "Reformed" leftist. I question just how "Reformed" they are after witnessing the travesty of the Bush years.
Republicans used to stand for a strong defense, while Democrats stood for a strong OFFENSE. Now both are virtually indistinguishable in that matter. Both seem to simply want to kill everything that is not them.
I've done at least my share of the fighting, but as time drags on and I get older, I get weary of it. That doesn't mean I'll ever stop, but it DOES mean that physics dictates a change in venue for me. Still, it's wearisome in ANY venue. As it stands right now, I find myself fighting against things here that I formerly fought against "over there" - which, I suppose, means I lost the first few rounds, and never got to keep them out of my own back yard, which was the intent way back when.
I don't even own a flag now. I have zero respect for what it has become. Once upon a time, it represented the People of America, the nation itself... but in recent years it has come to represent a single aspect of the nation - the government - which is no longer "for the People", and so the flag represents something other than what it did back in my day. I'll respect it again when it represents something that is respectable once again. Right now, the Gadsen Flag seem more representative of the People of America, and increasingly so with the dawning of each new draconian day.
I'm damned tired of sending our kids off to die in angry little foreign wars when the only angry little war that really matters is being lost right here, without even much of a fight, for lack of enough people motivated enough to engage on the only battlefield that matters. I'm damned tired of watching the nation I loved swirl down the crapper with each new day. Like a house that has been condemned, I'm increasingly coming to the opinion that it simply needs to be burnt down to the ground, and have a new one built over the ashes. The only concern I have is just what the new house would look like. I often wonder if there are enough people left in the US who prefer liberty over slavery to even drive a friggin' nail into it.
I watched the demise of the American Republic, live, and in color. I only stay alive now to watch hopefully for the demise of the American Federal Empire that replaced my beloved Republic when the People were distracted with sports, American Idol, and gadgets.

A wise man once told me that the time people are burying their guns is the precise time they really ought to be digging them up! Life is mostly a matter of timing, and most people are off by just a beat, which often times is just enough for evil to gain a foothold.
You should never be afraid to boldly speak your mind, but if you must be, then at least dig those guns back up before you back off into the shadows. Being in the shadows is sometimes good, but being armed in the shadows is always better.

Funny. I could have written the same thing. Word for word.

My point was that everyday life isn't particularly that different then it ever has been. Life goes on. There is no revolution, there is no apocalypse. Are there problems? Sure. But those problems are low wages and unemployment/underemployment and other economic issues. Contrary to the beliefs of the loud vocal minority in this country, we aren't falling apart. I've heard that we are my whole life, and guess what, we're still here.

You and I have seen things, and made connections and formulated thought that the upcoming generation have not experienced, and have little to know knowledge of. They will need that, and people like you and I are the only place they're going to find it. When that is combined with what THEY have seen and experienced, mountains can be, and hopefully will be, moved.

I'm getting to the age where being nice seems like a waste of time.
I just hope there are enough people willing to listen to those of us that have tasted dirt a time or two.

As for being able to take hills with 80lbs on my back? I now have to take pills just to get off my back!

Unless you are in immediete danger in your home, ie: about to freeze to death, starving, or suffering life threatening injury that you require outside assistance for, (hint: affordable healthcare doesnt qualify as immediete danger) then flying the flag this way is disrespectful, and frankly, stupid.
Teams continue to play sports, people go to work and school, and quite honestly I think anyone who flys this flag should be arrested for falsely declaring an emergency, and if you really think we are in a day to day emergency, you should AT LEAST be put on a mental health risk, and not permitted to purchase firearms, explosives, or maybe even bleach for that matter.
I wouldn't do business with you either.
Gotcher panties in a wad...huh....
What lala land do you live in. Oh, it must be all Rainbows and Unicorns...for if you lived in the Untied States, and pulled your head out of your netherlands...you'd be able to see, this once Great Nation, is indeed in distress.
Why don't you visit your local Veteran's Hospital, and repeat your above speech to them. I'm positive they need a good laugh.
Yes, I am flying my Old Glory upside down....no one is breaking down my door to arrest me, nor cart me off to a mental hospital. Nor confiscating my firearms. I think they like me sitting here funding their chaos with my taxes. If flying my Flag in a National symbol of distress scares you that much....It's well worth it.
