I was using Sunflower when I first started making it around 7 months ago.
Then for some reason I`ve changed to none GM Soy.
Earlier tonight I watched a video from Dr Mercola ?......think that`s his name.
Anyway, he`s against Soy.....so now I`m at a crossroads.

My sister in law has a tumour on her kidney and has been told there`s nothing they can do as she has emphysema.
I suggested the mixture but after watching a video, she feels she would only trust the intravenous method because the doctor in the video only mentioned mega vit c with that method.
Not too sure if she trusts me.

Well until very recently, intravenous was all there was. Super expensive and has a lower absorption than liposomal allegedly, though much higher than ordinary oral supplementation.

If she doesn't trust you she's unlikely to trust your recommendations. It must be a very difficult situation to be in and have everyone giving advice.

Please get the book Primal Panacea for your sister in law.

This book talks all about the benefits (miracles) of vitamin C both liposomal and IV.

Liposomal is stronger because an IV is watered down with fluids.

However, equivalent amounts can be obtained either way.

If she insists on IV - then find a natural path right away and get her into Vit-C drips.

If she is willing to do that = huge win.

If I had what she has (while doing my Lipo) I would most definitely add IV Vit-C to my regime.

You should be shooting for 50k - 100k mgs of vitamin c per week.

Now after saying all that.... convincing ANYONE that vitamin c is going to cure their illness, whether the flu to cancer is nearly impossible. Believe me I've tried. From the brother in law with lymphoma (that thinks I'm totally crazy, even though I have the medical studies to PROVE IT) to many friends that refuse to believe that Vitamin C will cure their flu ( which many friends are currently battling) with be an uphill battle... so I wish you luck.

Convincing anyone requires education and a student who is open to learning.

Hmmm Dr Mercola, isn't he the guy that makes his own version of Liposomal Vit C but actually there's no liposomes in it? I read this somewhere at length and people were writing to his company to find out more. I believe that after testing it was discovered that his mix had the potential but wasn't actually Lipo Vit C so beware. I remember someone rang up and they were told to mix it with water and then it would be liposomal!! Seriously not a guy who I would trust!

However if I was facing a health emergency then I think I would go with IV as whilst it is expensive, at least we know we are getting the real thing. Thats not to say I don't believe in our mixture because people have had fantastic results, but we only have one life and I would want to protect it the best way I can. I would use our mix as well on the days I wasn't having IV so I do think there is a place for both.

Oooh I forgot to add:

The Vitamin C will also cure her Emphysema

VC-treatment diminished oxidative stress, increased collagen synthesis, and improved VEGF levels in the lungs. Conclusions: Our results suggest that VC not only prevents smoke-induced emphysema in SMP30-KO mice but also restores emphysematous lungs.

Thanks Julie.
I`m thinking of going back to sunflower instead of Soy.
I find the taste a bit better too.

I have also switched to Magnesium Ascorbate from the Sodium Ascorbate I used before and I am experiencing a better effect in that form (judging from the well being sensation). Plus one gets the ionic Magnesium in a high absorption form, which is a vital mineral, without having to take a separate supplement such as Magnesium-citrate (Mg deficiency is common with products of modern agriculture).

After 3 batches of Magnesium Ascorbate (MA), while a really nice combination, there is a major issue with stability in the water solution. Namely, in the phase when ascorbate is mixed with 1/2 cup of cold water, the solution is initially chalky white. If I stir it for 2-3 minutes in order to fully dissolve the powder (20g), the solution turns black and the taste, which is initially slightly sour but OK, becomes very tart and unpleasant. It seems the oxidation or some other reaction (since Magnesium oxide is white) took place. The only partial work around was not to stir it separately at all, but pour the undissolved chalky mix into the 1 cup of lecithin emulsion and quickly blend for 10-15 seconds. That seems to keep it from turning black, although it still darkens somewhat. I think the net result is a lower dose of active Vitamin C.

As result, unless some tip or info comes along on how to stabilize Magnesium Ascorbate, I will go back to Sodium Ascorbate. As for the supplies I already got, I will just drink it in regular form as suggested on the container (with no stirring or lingering), it's still a good combination of mineral ascorbate.

I've made two batches with no problem

Formula is, 11/2 cups water mixed with 6 tabls sunflower power, water at room temp
11/2 cups water 3 tabls of c, water at room temp
I got the sunflower power at www.mysunflowerlecithin.com...

I'm not sure you should be taking so much magnesium.

Magnesium ascorbate: The recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for magnesium is 400-420 mg/day for adult men and 310-320 mg/day for adult women. The upper level (UL) of intake for magnesium from supplements should not exceed 350 mg/day (see Magnesium).

I did check for possible Magnesium overdose before starting the experiment. The weight ratio of Mg and Vitamin C in the Magnesium Ascorbate is roughly 1:12.8 (exact ratio is 65:830) . For example for 5g of Vitamin C, you get only 392 mg of Magnesium, or for 10 grams of Vit. C, you get 783 mg of Magnesium. With Liposomal C I am usually below 5 grams of Vitamin C per day, so I am well within the safe bounds on the Magnesium (even with 10g is OK since I was supplementing 400-600 mg daily of Magnesium Citrate before that without any problems or symptoms of overdose).

Regarding the previously mentioned stability issue of Magnesium Ascorbate, I will still be experimenting with pH variations (more acid solution is more stable; so I will be adding some AA) as well as with regular sugar and glycerine (sugar & glycerine improve stability of AA and of liposomes as well). I like that combo because of Magnesium, plus it tastes better than the Sodium Ascorbate variant.

For anyone wondering how to actually make an effective Liposmal Vitamin C concoction, follow the directions below.

** Before reading this, keep in mind that this works best and most effectively with Vitamin C "granules" (not powder). I get Now Lechatin Granules and Ascorbic Acid" - Also keep in mind.. A sonic Jewellery cleaner must be used to properly blend the elements. It acts by infusing the ingredients properly so your body absorbs the concoction properly.

* Final Result will be a yellowish custard color with a creamy consistency (think 2% or even homoginized milk)

Links to products I use:
www.supplementscanada.com...
www.supplementscanada.com...

RECIPE

Stainless Steel Ultrasonic Jewelry Cleaner (can be purchased for $20 on Ebay - You just need a simple one)
Soy or Sunflower Lecithin
100% Pure Ascorbic Acid = Vitamin C
Distilled Water (No tap water because of contaminations)
Blender or better a Braun Hand Held Mixer because it blends better

First of all, at least 30 minutes before you start blending anything, you should:

1.) Pour 3 TBsp Lecithin into 1 cup distilled water and soak at room temperature. Within 25 minutes all the granules should be soft. This is important, do not skip.

2.) In a blender or a narrow, tall (over 7 inch tall) container for a stick or immersion blender, blend the soaked Lecithin for a few minutes. This will blend quickly.

3.) Dissolve the 1 TBsp of Vitamin C crystals in ½ cup of COOL water. Keep stirring until all the crystals disappear. This is important, do not skip.

4.) Combine the Lecithin and Vit C mixtures together with the blender.

5.) Make sure the interior of the sonic cleaner is clean. Fill to max line and run. Change water. Repeat until you feel it’s clean. Do NOT use ANY cleaners, other than natural vinegar. Empty & wipe dry.

6.) Pour the blended emulsion into the sonic cleaner. Keep the lid open, use a plastic straw or non-reactive implement for stirring (something that has not been used for anything else). I sat down in front of the sonic cleaner on the counter with a timer. I set the timer for 30 minutes and kept stirring. Do not skip.

This is where the magic happens. Stirring makes sure as much of the liquid as possible is exposed closely to the sonic element where the encapsulation process happens.

At the end of 30 minutes, all the foam has disappeared.
When done you will have a mix that is about the color of milk. There will be some settling but shouldn't be much, less than 5% of the mix or so.

When done, pour mix into a reseal able GLASS jar and store in your refrigerator.
This protocol furnishes about 12 grams (12000mg.) of vitamin C product.
At 70% encapsulation efficiency, 8400 mg would be of the LET type. This
solution will keep, acceptably, at room temperature for 3 to 4 days.

Refrigerated, it will keep much longer. We use it so fast around our
place...there isn't enough left to be concerned over storage. The
" homogenizing effect " is so powerful that after 3 days at room temperature,
no precipitation or solution separation appears evident.

Dosage: Take on an empty stomach, preferably 1 hour before you eat and don’t eat for 30 minutes after. Dosage varies… from a couple of teaspoons 2 times a day to 1-2 oz. shots 2-3 times a day. You can use the same recipe for Glutathione as well. If you start to get a headache that lasts more than a day, you could either be detoxing or you are having a reaction to the Soy Lecithin and should switch to Sunflower.

Homemade Liposomal C

FACTS/MYTHS

**** It is always good advice to consult your doctor before starting any new regimen and is not recommend for pregnant women.****

Can you overdose on Mega Vitamin C and can it be toxic?
Answer: No (Perhaps if you consume a stupid amount like a gallon)

Does Liposomal Vitamin C cause diarrhea?
Answer: Mostly No. At least not in moderate amounts. Mega doses of Vitamin C supplements (pills) will because your cells cannot absorb the over the counter supplements and too much in your stomach can cause problems.

The $120 sonic recommended by Tarasco got unfortunately a bit out of my
budget! GRRR.

I'll be able to afford a $20-40, 50 max cleaner but I read that on this thread
that the cheaper ones break more often.

Are there any sub-50$ cleaners that won't break after multiple uses?
I really want to make lip-C!!!

Thx!

Well mine never broke and it was a fairly cheap one. I gave it away when I got a bigger one.

The one I have now, I made 3x of those size batches in (though it will technically hold 4):

The $120 sonic recommended by Tarasco got unfortunately a bit out of my
budget! GRRR.

(I'm not promoting my specific unit so much as giving you stuff to think about....)

I'm poor too....and had to talk myself into buying it...think health...think VISA..! am very happy that I read thru the whole thread one weekend and noted the number of users whose cheaper units quit....and....I accidentally got lucky with this purchase as I had no idea what I was doing....

But, on the other hand, maybe Red Cairo broke some ground with his budget machine that didn't quit....but it is small....I wouldn't want anything smaller....I might lose interest....

My Optima machine has a capacity of 1.375 ml (2.4 pints) that allows me to make double amounts of the recipe (2 cups lecithin plus 1 cup Vitamin C or Glutathione) which is pretty good for my needs....I'm taking it almost obsessively (like I used to have my morning espresso) and numerous times during the day....

I would almost like a larger capacity but then it starts to get complicated decanting a too large unit into the (large) measuring cup to pour it into the glass fridge pitchers....the Optima is easy to pour out into the measuring cup....any bigger and I would be spilling stuff everywhere

But now I have the moves so it's pretty automatic assembling the ingredients....and allowing that cool down between 8 min cycles....

Remember, you are going to give the unit a lot of use....so baby it for longevity....

And another thing....the power the ultrasonic device uses is, I think, a measure of its robustness....I wouldn't go below 60 watts....

Sorry for getting carried away....the GRRR got to me....(I know it wasn't directed at me...)

How much of this stuff is to much? I just recently started making my own Lip C. From what I've researched, a one ounce shot glass of this stuff has 5-7 grams of vit C, is this correct? My daily consumption goes something like this: 2 ounces at 9:30 a.m., another 2 ounces at 10:00 a.m. then breakfast at 10:30 a.m. Another 2 ounces an hour before lunch and another 2 ounces an hour before dinner, so 40 grams total throughout the day. I feel awesome all day long but I'm wondering if I can push it and go for more? This stuff kinda scares me, I haven't felt this great in years!

1 cups water + 45g lecithin
1/2 (0.5) cup water + 15g ascorbic
1.5 cups (~354g [~236g per cup of water]) + 60g ingredients
So you end up with about ~415g of formula.
There are ~29.5735g per ounce of water (note: differs for other substances)
So that's around 14oz of formula when you are done.
Assuming the ascorbic is distributed equally (it actually won't be, some % will be unencapsulated and in my experience if let sit a bit will rise toward the top of the container), that would be 0.93g of ascorbic per ounce of liquid formula.

Assuming on encapsulation values here:
50% encapsulated is 0.465g encaps per oz (very high absorption)
- and the rest unencapsulated (10-18% absorption plain, 5-15% more if buffered)
79% encapsulated is 0.7347 encaps per oz (very high absorption)
- and the rest unencapsulated (10-18% absorption plain, 5-15% more if buffered)

So you're getting about 5.88g encapsulated in 8oz of formula, plus whatever is outside that.
Due to the greater absoprtion rate compared to taking C orally though, this may be worth many times as much.

Just a quick one.......
If after making a batch...after an hour or two, I find sediment at the bottom of my mix.
Should I put it back into the sonic blender for a while ?
