Ok if I am a player and I have lost my edge and I know it I pull myself from the game....if I have a nagging injury which removes my edge I know it...if something exernal to the game is on my mind and I lose my edge I know it ....and last night I let something external to the game influence my performnce, I actually questioned the loyalty of a steadfast teammate......It happened because I did not take the game seriously, because I did not approach it professionally as a fan which is what I do.......I now realise where I went wrong.....I gave up after breakfast yesterday ...as soon as I set down my Bullet Cup I began planning my foray into my favorite place on the planet,the forest,I needed to pick up some medicine and was very excited to have the trip on my itinerary....and this is not normal....I have surrendered the season because I do not believe there is anything left to teach....and this is an exremely sad statement of affairs....last night I watched parts of the game while I was doing some chores,and I actually LOOKED AT AND AKNOWLEDGED A COMMENTATOR on the Panel on the far right ,a relatively non-bised one as I recall thinking....then later while I was busy working and was only listening to the game the Moron in the Middle who has absolutely NO RIGHT BEING THERE due to his absolute lack of broadcast acumen and his 100% biased perspective and his meshing of that biased online/MSM mixed focus which absolutely detracts from his job.....well this moron got under my skin enough that he drew to the side my already weak focus enough that I mistakenly thought "by ear" that I was listening to Big Louie making real-time commentary....this is not acceptable to me on any level.....as an EveryFan I have much higher expectations of myself and when I begin to question one of the Oilers staunchest most loyal supporters in Big Louie .....well I know its time to pull myself from the lineup for a few games until I get my edge back...this is not the kind of job where a Fan can put in 75% effort and keep calling themselves an EveryFan of the highest calling.

We are now at the crossroads of what appears to be a directive to obtain more heaviness in the team. The pursuit of a Californian model will only result in a game of who blinks first. Icing a heavy team is no different that instilling a mantra of compete.

The Sharks employ a no nonsense KISS attitude by getting the puck on net in a hurry (before it can be blocked) and following up on secondary opportunities. If behind the net, they look for the centering pass to an open player who unleashes a quick one timer. These are their primary scoring focuses.

Every team's mantra is projected through their offensive thrusts. By understanding this, then the counter is simply picking when to regain possession of the puck.

The trade-off with heaviness is agility and hockey sense. Soon the Oilers will being their purge in pursuit of bigger bodies but will still somehow get punished by a sneaky little Johnny Gadreau. How is that possible???

The NHS did not do a breakdown of the adjustments to the d-zone management and exit stategies nor the PP adjustments during the last game....because of the Pity Factor.....but there were adjustments made to both.......neither set of adjustments was particulrly attractive to me nor were they what would be considered progressive ,regressive in fact.

The San Jose Models Achillies Heel is simply this,they dump pucks out of their zone ASAP and hope to recover them upice in the n-zone or deeper then make quickshots with the focus on rebounds they can follow up with speed however the fact is that the Collapse defense allows for quick transitions catalysed out of n-zone possesion gains and creatively managed to be paired with easy zone entries which support the possesion/transition tactics the Flamers use .Yup Johnny Hockey will feast.

Yes the forced rebound playactions are nice yes you are now mixing it up and going to the net.....but why not pull a few possesions from the 1/2 wall right to the middle.....even Vinney is big....come on the Oilers are traditionally soft as putty up the gut.....so poke em in the belly hard.....just walk it into the middle and do what you want to......they cannot really stop it when real NHL Teams hit them up the middle.

If you slow down your zone entry a little bit so your upspeed backdoor support gets a bit more seperation you will bury those low far right post forced rebound playactions.....be patient and just slow down the N/S entry a bit and let the upspeed guy heading back door BUST IN....right now their speeds are to close to the same and you dont have enough seperation.Run it a few imes then zip one top left corner ....get him thinking low far post then nail him up top lef corner from the periphery on the 3rd time round.
