Cmoe on fellas, all they have changed is that they are working an upspeed man like WE DO YOU DUM-DUMS.

I just cant watch until the 1st is over to let you hang yourselves.

They are bringing three men back into their zone to use OUR ZONE TRANSITION TACTICS.

Identify and pick off that late upspeed man, watch them high in the n-zone and stop the upspeed play it is a simple play to use and to stop,SO STOP IT.

Send two forecheckers in hard as you are doing but DO NOT overcommit the 3rd man ,keep him high in the n-zone,to take away the easy transition passes they are making, they have been sucking the 3rd man into their zone to far.

Just send in two forecheckers hard and keep the 3rd high in the n-zone stopping them from genrerating the transitions they need there.Remind the forecheckers to WATCH for the late upspeed man coming back behind them with speed.

If you know their pattern as you do now you SHOULD be able to make offensive tactical traps or do I need ot do that to.

Teach them a lesson and send in the 1st forechecker at full speed, stagger the 2nd man so he comes in later but chases the puck immediatly, try to slip that 1st forechecker in behind them it will force that man they are using as an upspeed asset to stutter and have to make an extra decision about the man slipping behind him,pin the upspeed man back so he cannot join the play the way he wants to.

You will ALWAYS CATCH THEM in the n-zone,on the backcheck because they need to catalyse there to initiate their offense.

Remember you will already have your 3rd man sitting high in the n-zone slowing the playaction and he needs to hit the puckcarrier ASAP in the chest so he takes him out of the rush right there in the n-zone.

Next time they come out to pressure us high and aggressive on the PP,if the pressure comes really fast just wrist it hard straight east or west into the boards for a dead rebound for you teammate to pick up,remember this whoever gets the pressure outlet pass we have to make when their pressure is hard and past MUST drive the middle and take it in himself all the way because that is where they are leaving a hole to come out so hard, they are overcommitting their middle coverage man so you need to hit them down the middle, just the usual pressure outlet pass, now that you know they can be SUCKED OUT all the way up that high BURN THEM.

Just start using short high dump-outs to get past their numbers based forecheck, they are wide open most playactions, use your speed when they cheat and bring everyone into the o-zone and high n-zone to create that numbers advantage they are CHEATING to achive, have the man who gets the puck first dump it high and medium distance then sprint after it and recover his own dumpin.

You cant easily skate it out immediatly because they are playing the puck hard with 3 men and pressuring to much trying to create turnovers in our zone.So dump it out and chase your own puck really hard, dont oever play it time is as YOU need because you just need to catch them flatfooted and beat them to it on your own,you ARENT trying to dump it really really deep, just to yourself, this allows you to exit your defensive zone and defeat the numbers advantage they are creating with the cheat.

Now that you know their pattern,BURN THEM.

Now that you know their tendancies, especially in the forecheck and sneaking out of the n-zone early, you should be able to lure them into jumping into our zone to early and overloading us.

But beware that this thread has been getting better and better advertisements and that means hit numbers,so I imagine Calgarys smart-guy is paying attention as we speak,so act fast.

If you listen to me and they listen to me but you execute and interpret better and faster you will still win.

Tell Jordan that he is cheating on the right post and to exploit him,go midpost to low post and in,his is showing a crack there consistantly.

I was watching the Canadian juniors and they were utilising an NHS tactic, they were shooting the puck low and far post from in tight around the inside edges of the circle and over to the corner nice and soft so the tenders were forced to make sweeping saves and provide consistant rebounds to their backdoor man it was working nicely, give it a swing.

Just let the goalie read you delay and telegraph the shot to make him go down and butterfly the pads so you can force the kick save/pass to your backdoor support man.Run 2 of those or enough so he clues in the ,ring a few in off that post he is cheating on,get him jumpy about stuttered off-speed shots low on the ice picking corners so he is out of synch with the playaction and focusing on his bottom game,That play creates a forced rebound if the shooter sucks him in by the little pause and draws him down then the backdoor man will have a clear and high percentage scoring chance. It is a way to create peripheral offense against bigger teams, but it will also work well now.It is a modification of the NHS tactics that LA copied from the high right faceoff circle to the backdoor upspeed man, to support the cup run and win their Cup,from me and the NHS to Sutter to Sutter,ha ha haha.

Tell Nuge to keep shooting for is elbows and make sure the net pressure is coming in very fast because the tender will bobble those shots and drop them in front.

They just snuck an upspeed guy into the play from right off the bench.

They are pressuring right to the boards and immediatly committing to the pin in their zone so draw them right to the boards with short misspped but snappy passing give and gos, make your swing man positioned right on the boards and they will overcommit with the d-man and laeve a big hole behind their d-man,in the middle.Short mid-speed give and gos.Obviously their d-men are shooting in our zone so why not attack them there, pressure them, they are sneaking in WAYYY to much,it is time to burn them..with our speed.

This is why I hate hockey thinkers, watching Belov standing there for a thee and a half count with no stick after skating arounf for another two and a half or more without it looking for a place to be innefectiv as he is coached to,of course as you saw he picked the MIDDLE the one place you dont want a man without a stick in your defensive zone.

GO GET YOUR NEW STICK,skate like the wind, come on,its worse to wait and let them pick you apart.

Shoot 5 hole on this tender REALLY feathered midweight WRISTERS,from mid-zone and look for rebound passes to your wingman, this guy goes down and butterflys FAST and is reactive,he will kick the puck right to you if you keep it LOW and HARD and offspeed.

Make sure you fire a few rockets straight 5-hole to close his legs a bit,but shoot from mid-zone JUST BEFORE he drops down, catch him in transition and make him react faster than he wants to.teams were doing the same tyep of tactic to Dubby last year, just timing the drop and picking a distance into the zone to shoot from to catch the transition.

This guy bases his game off of covering the bottom at an exact time, just watch him and time his drop, then shoot a tad early on him and catch him in the transition moment, with HArD shots 5-hole from mid-zone or midweight ice level wristers far low post to force toe rebound/pass to your backdoor man.

I will ballpark it and say precisely2-1/2 full strides into the o-zone,dont even take time to pick your spot and let him read you just shoot in full stride with full intent, catch him and the d-men of guard. That is the transition timing for the drop with this goalie, where is that goalie coach we have, isnt he on the job tonight?

RNH is RIGHT ON THE MONEY,HE IS LOOKING FOR THIS SWEETSPOT,now tell him to go 5-hole,he is on target and has this tenders timing down, just tell him to switch shot spots,go 5 hole.and chase the rebounds, everyone collapse to the net off those rushes with the midzone shot.Nuge is already in his head going up high so immediatly tell him to go 5-hole,or work it into the corner and force a nice midspeed rebound/ pass with that middleweight low post shot/pass to a backdoor man.

This goalie drops so early and stays down so long our skill level should let guys be ROOFING IT ON HIM FROM IN CLOSE,this is a critical observation, mention it,go cookie jar, roof it from in close ,dont rush in close and watse any chances it he is already down, take the pass and go roof daddy, make him pay for playing in the sandbox like that, tell Ebbs to put some lift on bis back-hands,or Gagner to show us his hands,go roof daddy. He is swimming for you already in close.

This goalie is fast side to side so he needs to be targeted either up high, down low,or BOTH.

Go roof daddy on him in close because he is down so fast and for so long or use a medium wight wrister from over in the corner a bit to shoot low far post to force him and his butterfly position to kick the puck to your back door man remember the rebound angle will be acute and start to shoot for the 5 hole from midzone to catch him in that transition zone when he is dropping,he is timing the drop on the puck carriers zone entry speed,he is cheating so he is preidctable,we just need to shoot a blonde one earlier without telegraphing and in full stride to catch him dropping with his 5-hole open.

The fact he is going down so fast and staying down so fast also makes him vulnerable to those little chip shot deflections that go from down low then come up straight up under the bar.Not the knee high deflections, the other kind,ha haha.Perrons shot from nearly behind the net is open up high every time with this goalie why isnt he seeing it and cashing in?Or Gagner from the other side, they can hit it from both sides if they keep it just under the bar.

Chabot you owe me a case of O.V,if they still make it these days.I wont forget either.

Tell Hall and Perron to close on the puck carrier TOGETHER,they are trying to cover to much ice is individuals, tell them to work together and cut down the angles on the puck carier together ASAP and to both immediatly dial in on the next puck carrier and do the same thingm, they need to better use their speed together this way.

Think like two Barracudas closing on a target together cutting right in closing the angles faster than anything can react,NOT Great White sharks cruising arong covering lots of area.

with 3:36 left they snuck another upspeed man inside and almost tied it,they just initiated him from inside the blueline,we had already been over that exact point earlier remember? And your coverage has been gret ,remind the men again now.

Nice hard drive forward by Perron to seal the game. That is how you approach an empty net in the NHL you DRIVE FOR IT with 100% effort and try to bury the bone, that is what top dogs do.

Ryan Smyth reinforces the prior point, that is what you called Karma, excellent effort by a Top Dog in the extra effort arena.

Nice job of reacting to the data by the coaches,I will provide more offensive suggestions sooner, there is a stutter there, you guys take to long. But nice job of shutting down their first exit zone transition and then closing the door in the n-zone,and really good job of tracking and neutralising that upspeed playaction ,although they did sneak em through in every period.

Nice job of using a consistant Tactical Shooting Program , I could see it out there, now you have a few tactics to work on,especially the directed rebound/pass off the goalies leg save in close that goes to the backdoor man, work onit and get the timing down, watch team canadas game and you will see Sutter using it optimally, the same way we ccould after just a practice or two.

Also it is remiss not to try to roof it on a tender who goes down and stays down covering the bottom in close. That should have been adjusted. But at least it is in the book on this guy now.

Goalies that cheat and time their drop with the speed of the incoming playaction and not the specific puck carrier are easy to anticipate, pregame scouting should have had the team better prepared to exploit this ,it is a terminal flaw for a goalie to have .

As I said last year teams were picking a "locality" to shoot on Dubby from and I advised curative action in our zone and in the n-zone to stop them from doing this.

With the tender tonight he was telegraphing his cheating and his weakness is how much top net he leaves open when he cheats down low early trying to control the shooters decision making. We should have been exploiting him top shelf cookie jar style because he was giving up that sharp angle to the shooters by swimmimg on the ice in the butterfly position, shooters just need to bury it and trust there is room on tenders like this.

With Dubby they were stepping into the same "locality" and going straight on top shelf while he was making a goaltending transition of is own.Once we have dealt with a problem once the data availability and exchange means we SHOULD be aware of it in all phases of operations,so why wasnt Chabot telling these things to the bench tonight? After he has had to work through the exact dynamics in his own wheelhouse already? This prior experience and point on the learnng curve SHOULD have been transitioned into an offensive driver in pre-game scouting of their goalie and pre-game planning of the Tactical Shooting Program.

And really just because I wasnt posting reams of offensive reactions doesnt mean you guys shouldnt have been implementing more or at least a few or your own.I gave you a general template to work with and left the offensive integration to you, however there are always optimal offensive tactics and I can give those next time so you can implement them at the right times.

Nicely played and a well Earned 2 points, the Turkey-Bowl is always a hard one to win after Christmas dinners all around,it is a really easy game for the entire roster to just mail in, and the Oilers didnt do that they fought and battled to the end outcompeteing the Flames in a war of systemic attrition.

The Flames shouldnt have switched from the man to man pressure they choked us out with last game, that NHS influence leads to a Blues style game, the Flames tried to play different style game with us tonight an NHS influence we play against a lot now but never seem to master, they tried to utilise the upspeed man managed from the 1st exit transition and supported through the n-zone.

That NHS influenced Blues style template is what I will soon be giving the Flames, that where we want them, where they can have a better impact not lesser one like tonight was.I want the Flames to optimise their roster so they push the Oilers harder than they are.
