If he said that he's reckless and wrong. I'm not going to go through 8 pages to see if he really did or not. Though I doubt he did.

If anyone is going to pull any trigger they need to know the entire life of that bullet from exit to stop. Not knowing where your bullet will stop is reckless.

Any shooter can achieve this just anywhere. The government doesnt need to assign places for this goal to be accomplished.

The force and inertia of the bullet will send it well over a mile before it finally runs out of steam and falls. I could take a decent powered assault rifle that could be constrained to fire one bullet at once, go to my roof and start flooding The Goldman Sachs Tower in Downtown Jersey City with a hail of gunfire and it would take then a while to figure out where it's rooting from, especially if I can cover the device and use a silencer. From my house to the Hudson River is only 1 1/4 miles! I could possibly hit the workers currently working at 1 World Trade Center!

If you're on your roof firing into a populated area intentionally then you are trying to cause to harm and going out of your way to avoid any obstacle that will stop that bullets travel.

You're trying to compare intentional and deliberate risk of injury over a mile away to somebody firing into a quarry or backstop that's just 100 yards away.

That's so patently ridiculous you should be embarrassed.

The "Assault Rifle" you suggest has an affective range (In most cases) on 500 yards, when shooting on a horizontal trajectory.
A mile and a half? You are clueless.
A suppressor will dampen the sound, but it does not produce the Movie magic you are applying, as there still is sounds produced and the ballistics are cut and degraded quite drastically.

Shooting in a non roped off area is as reckless as you have no control where that bullet is going. Isn't a principle of gun ownership to exercise restraint and to see the obvious?

So is the control in the hands of the shooter or in the magic powers of rope?

Here's a great test. You rope off an area. I'll stand in that area. You'll stand outside that area. I'll try to shoot you and we'll see what happens.

Then we can remove the ropes and I'll fire into a backstop not trying to shoot you and we'll see how that works out.

How many safety and warning placards are at shooting ranges? Dozens right? At every stall, on just about every wall, at the front door, at the payment window, in the literature available. Just post the same type of stuff all around the vicinity of a firing range in a state or national park, is that so hard? Plus what about the family who went there to see nature, should they have to fear going to a place like this because on of them might get shot?

Guns are allowed in forever in state and national parks as to not go shooting but for self defense in the event you are confronted by a wild animal so that you can defend yourself and not to make a tree in the park look like Swiss cheese!

How about I rope it off, inform you of the direction of travel of the bullet and stand behind you to avoid getting hit and to know where I should not be nor stand, nor setup camp so that my family don't get hit by one of your strays!

The signs are there to aid in the legal process, that is it. In case something happens, then the range can fall back onto the "signs" as a legal backing.

Your imaginary vision of what happens in these areas really are comical.

The areas need warning signs? Warm and fuzzies, that is all.
Signs need to warn you of the sun, snakes, plants, bugs and so on.

I guess that when you visit these areas, if out West, let me know. I will personally go out and place warning signs out for you, so you don't hurt yourself or get hurt.

The power is in the shooter. There is no power to protect, control or regulate in any amount of rope or signage.
