Cognitive dissonance much anyone.

What little (I admit) I know of Subliminal broadcasting this appears to be an excellent example of it. Unfortunately the stage was set and I "was" looking for it and I saw it clears day - Stop protesting (now if I can see it clearly then that doesn't fit but when you guys started pointing out.

Yes

Stop protesting

Now

It got a bit more interesting. Is it intentional who knows but as I understand subliminal messaging it fits like a glove.

Ironic that a product that is probably used for a great deal of the protest signs is suggesting that one should not protest is odd.

But it is entertaining as always to hear right on cue the - its just a coincidence - crowd. Very cool catch.

A “good” advertiser does not need words or huge banners to do this; they can easily manipulate most with a well thought out placement of colour. It is a big mistake to only look for subliminals when your average ad has a huge list of suggestive messages that go un noticed and without even needing a word.

Thanks for sharing!
You've reconfirmed all my suspicions that Alex Jones is a fraud, and will report anything as news, even if he has to make it up...

And this is coming from someone who believes in ETs, the 9/11 conspiracy, and a ton of other pretty open minded concepts.

Maybe they are leaving subliminal messages up longer instead of the old couple frames per second which only the subconscious can see because so many people now record thier favorite TV shows on DVR then they Fast forward through the commercials, but still look at the screen so they don't miss when thier show starts again.

So if you watched this sharpie commercial at 1x(or 2x) FF speed on a DVR recording the "Stop Protesting Now" message may be too fast for your conscious mind to see, but still recognizable by the subconscious?

Just a thought.

Or...

It could be the masses are so dumbed down and our brains are not working like they used to, subliminals need to be more in your face in order for them to work. Maybe the 1 frame subliminal is just too fast for todays society to even pick up subconsciously.

I am a bit shocked noone has mentioned "classical conditioning" (PAVLOVIAN)
Subliminal or not, there is a coupling/association between the visual and the audio :

The coupling of the narrator's "NO PURPOSE" with the visual ( NO PROTESTING SIGN) is basic conditioning, and needs to be repeated for it to be effective. How many times have the MSM pointed out the uselessness and meaningless of the OWS movement???

/had to retrieve my password to post this!!!!! Seriously people!!!! Get your basics together!!!!

Looks like OWS will have to find a non-corporate brand of marker to make their signs with. I guess sharpie didn't want anyone in the fascist hierarchy to mistakenly think they support OWS.

Me thinks too, since the message was open long enough to
guffaw a 60 year old fluoride filter out here. And a star for the
two most dangerous open carry weapons you can have, and
wear well.. a Sharpie and a .308 tube top.

Hey guys to all that have said hey it is clear as day go see someone you know isn't into this type of thing and show them and see what their response is you might be surprised that they say hey I didn't see that before.

I know subliminal messaging is real, but I look for them. I look for the little signs of the new world order, the pyramids flashed on TV programs, movies. It's sorta a game for me.

Now the old movie ads "let's all go to the lobby" ... well, I always got hungry and had to have popcorn and a coke.

clear as day.
The point though is the reasoning
behind it. I think AJ nailed this one on it
being anti-protesting propaganda.
Subliminal not so much
Anti-protesting message very much so
good catch.

True, but think again if you had watched the commercial without seeing alex jones opinion first. Theres a high chance you wouldn't have noticed it, although your brain is still registering what the sign says in your sub concious as he said.

"Stop Protesting" is not subliminal as noted by many others. I was thinking the other word for "Stop Protesting" is "Submit" or "Follow". It's amazing how many times you have to push a button with one of those 2 words on it. Sick. I'm glad ATS uses "Reply". It's far more powerful than "Submit".

Thanks ATS!

Looks like a bit of humor, in the form of Irony to me.

A Protest, saying, Don't protest.
Wink wink nudge nudge..

I agree.
This is not subliminal advertizing. If it were, our conscious minds wouldn't have been able to pick it out when the commercial was run at regular speed. Sharpie MAY be giving their opinion about protests, but this particular piece is not subliminal. It's right out there for our conscious, reasoning mind to filter.

The purpose of subliminal is to get PAST the thinking, logical mind and slip right in the the subconscious.

Very true, the video in the OP is not subliminal but maybe slightly worrying, or just ironic.

This one is pretty good though, and no penalties imposed

That is a good one. And I'm not saying that subliminals don't exist. I have seen them exposed.

It's just that someone expressing an opinion (like Stop Protesting) is not the same as a concerted effort to manipulate someone without their knowledge. People here get all freaked out when someone expresses something. It's really quite crazy.

So, even IF (big if) this was meant to actually sway someone's thinking about protesting. - If we can't fight that with our logical minds, we are weak, stupid and already beyond saving. Everything on TV isn't an attempt to manipulate. Every commercial isn't made with the purpose of swaying one's opinion (except to buy the product, that is). Alex Jones is paranoid and makes his living from people who HE manipulates EVERY day!

He's become a joke. A caricature of himself.

I know I totally agree... people see a conspiracy in every advert and every person who talks on TV, when really they're just sales tactic or opinions... we may not agree with what's being said or sold, but still, people can sell it or say it all they like.

And also yes, Alex Jones is a total joke and also extremely annoying.

I do applaud you for not just taking my, or anyone elses word for it. And I won't argue it with you. If you choose to remain ignorant, instead of doing some study and research, that is your choice and perogative.

Ok, so anyone who knows more about the subject matter than you is ignorant? Nice talking to you, remain very afraid-will ya.

You seem to imply that you are more knowledgeable without giving any concrete evidence yourself. Please enlighten us.

I used to work PSYOPS in the Army and can tell you from experience that indeed subliminal messages do indeed work and that it IS done on purpose!!

So again do tell what your experience is on this subject. I am fascinated.

All i hear is alex jones saying "Don't protest" and it's not the subliminal message thats a problem here, it's the overt suggestions from alex that you "Don't Protest".

The point where he says "We need to educate you" he stutters, maybe someone who knows what is going on with him told him in his ear to be careful what he is saying.
After all there is a line and he cannot cross it.
Instead of this crap why doesn't he just name names, give addresses, at what point does it become obvious that the self proclaimed monicker of "A Patriot" is really, just another "organised schill".
