i had to laugh at this
no offense

but if this was an arms sale
sales pitch it damn surely
wouldn't have happened
in plain site next to our
US west coast.

We just need to show that we can make a long distance call.

My daughter's father works for USAF Space Command/DoD/Norad and this is his job - to monitor all launches all over the world. He watched this launch as it happened and monitored it.

He knows what this is...but wont tell me. Grrr. I have tired trust me.
Does this mean you're confident it's not a contrail from a plane, even though you don't know what it is? Or is that still a possibility?

I thought he was supposed to say he could tell you but then he'd have to kill you?
(Just a joke)

My take is that if a missile is launched anywhere in the world, the US defense department probably knows about it and is tracking it.

It's amazing how long it's taking for reliable information to be released on this.

The Chinese wouldn't get past Hawaii - there's a reason the US made it the 50th state and filled it with military, to protect the mainland from the western enemies.

At the top of thread, I'm calling it a dog & pony show for a new arms contract.

Like Hawaii is some kind of bottleneck? Come on

You honestly think that the Chinese could sneak a submarine up as close as ~35 miles off the coast, and the U.S. wouldn't know about it???

www.cbsnews.com...

A Chinese submarine came close to the USS Kitty Hawk carrier group in the Pacific Ocean last month, a top U.S. naval commander confirmed Tuesday, adding the encounter could have triggered an "unforeseen" incident.

Just sayin'...

Any Russian submarine nearby?

They are testing rockets in Artic for some time ignoring Canada concerns.

I doubt they would launch a missile near US coast but who knows...

My thoughts are now that this is just a high flying aircraft coming slowly towards the camera.

a) No rocket motor visible
b) Source is from a 'news' station (go figure)
c) Why is the footage not longer, and showing more of the context? Seems highly editted to me.

People aren't been told the reason for this missile lauch to avoid mass panic.

They are probably just shooting off the missile to knock the asteroid that is on course to hit us off its current trajectory.

Mystery 'missile' launch near L.A. no threat to national security, government officials say [Updated]

This is so unreal statement. Unknown missile has launched but no threat to national security. Of course not, this is so normal. Typical Monday missile.

There have been numerous bonifide reports in the past regarding UFO interference with nuclear missiles and nuclear storage facilities. And if anyone has the technology to do this, they sure have!

And the U.S. Government has always had a policy of keeping this stuff secret.

Note the quotation marks around the word missile.
Though, more properly, it should have been written "missile launch".

I was thinking the same possibility for a while. Just waiting to see if anybody else would wonder the same thing..

I'd go for these:

Energia launch - possible.
Incidental launch - very improbable/scary.
Foreign stealth missile/sub launch - totally scary.

Is it possible every body look here and something else is going on somewhere else?

Did you miss the still that shows a glow that looks exactly like a rocket booster?
Go back and check again.
A Pentagon source told Rick Leventhal that it was a missle launch.

If it just was a top secret test, why not just issue a report saying it was a run of the mill test?

This months Popular Mechanics magazine has a cover story about China's secret war plan to target aircraft carriers. It has a whole bunch of info about missiles.
