Thank you. Actually I know that UTC is GMT.
But not all members will necessarily know that, so no harm in mentioning it.
I just couldn't find that data on that page that was referenced. For some reason it's not displaying any actual figures. Could be my comp is the problem, though.

Edited for errors. (Duh!)

I was just going to ask about that, there are more islands in the Pacific that could be hit by now.

A new report says that there are now 147 confirmed deaths.

Here is what I hope is a really good cataloged summary of the event from the original Filament and auroras to the EQ and the ongoing bombardment that is being recorded at SOHO right now.

I thought this was interesting.... Check out this thread on ATS:

Joseph Tittel predicted this as the year of the earthquake and he is scary accurate.

Just had a look at those Islands. They are max 6 mtr height. I am wondering if there was damage and loss of life there. If any one hears please let us know.

If we are being honest this has turned out to be a non-event and so will the smallish tsunami. The only noteworthy thing is the size, 8.8

I think I saw those images before, and if if they are the ones I am thinking it wasn't a tsunami and it was in China.

Too early to tell. Hilo, Haleiwa, Kahului, and Hanalei are "resonant" bays which can amplify tsunami. We won't really know for a few hours what the effects will be.

NOAA rep still stating it is necessary for people to move to higher ground.

20cm waves have been recorded at the Chatham Islands, but this may rise as the morning goes on.

We are on alert here in New Zealand and one of our local Beaches has been evacuated.

Here is the link to Local Radio Station - newstalk zb

they're discussing it live all morning with Tsunami updates.

If I remember it correctly, that was the problem in Alaska, when there was a tsunami that was reflected on one side of a bay and the most affected area was the one that looked protected.

But I may be wrong, my memory sometimes mixes things up.
