Hey SN I didn't know you're a christian, I had the impression you were some sort of new ager. Well i was obviously wrong then, equally so i could be wrong about the jesusgod, unlikely but possible. If so then i'm sure jesusgod will let me know at the appropriate time and forgive me for my wrong assumption which was based on lack of evidence.

LOL No not New Age at all ......in fact I disagree with them on their threads too and I irritate them just as much as I irritate yall ....

Do you have any figures about how many secular non-profits exist? I do. Do you have figures of how much money Catholic Relief Services dedicates to HIV/AIDS relief? I do. Do you know how much money relief organizations give comparatively to government relief? I do.

Please back the snark up with some solid facts.

Does it really mattter how much money who gives to what cause ?
The fact of the matter is that the jesusgod made it quite clear that "whatever " you pray for will be done.

So it's quite simple really either this character (theological) was a lie, did lie, or christians are lying and havent prayed for disease to be cured.

Again, there has yet to be but one ducumented case of the jesusgod healing an amputee, unless anyone can prove otherwise of course.

Pleas anyone dont insult me by coming back with the jesusgod creating doctors nonsense.

I do not hate Jesus or anything else about Christianity. I simply do not believe in the existence of any omnipotent deity or gods of any kind. I can say that I do hate what has become of certain religious groups, particularly those broadcast on tv whose main purpose seems only to be collecting money from people who can't afford to give away money.

I think spiritual beliefs can be beneficial to some if it keeps them happy and in a healthy state of mind. To each their own as long as it doesn't infringe upon someone else. Thus, the saying that two things people should never discuss are religion and politics is a very good suggestion.

angel of lightangelo:

I am a person of faith therefore I do believe that we ALL are created by our Father in heaven. Therefore, I would assume since He created man, that also meaning you, that He therefore KNOWS and BELIEVES in you. Now, you do have the right not to believe in Him or to know Him. We were made creatures of free will. You are not knocking my faith, my faith remains intact, thank you!

I have asked you twice why you have chosen an avatar of Satan when he was cast from heaven to earth. Do you believe more in Satan than you do Christ? I really would like to know why you chose this for your avatar.

Peace,
Grandma

I am specifically praying God will lead a level-headed Christian your way...gotta watch though...ok?

Let's have God shock me, and send me a woman who doesn't flinch when she sees me, doesn't laugh when she finds out how much money I (don't) have, and doesn't run off at the first sign of a Bigger Better Deal on the horizon.

God makes my life just a little less lonely, and sends me a mate like the freaking rest of the world has (And before I hear about that 'some people aren't married, blah blah blah', I don't even have a family: relatives, nothing)- and let me be a little selfish here- the person I have dreamed about all my life... and I'll begin the turnaround process.

And I don't want to hear anything about " God doesn't cater to my terms" or "God isn't a vending machine". I have had enough of crumbs while others get a nice juicy steak and a salad. I don't want cash- All I require is someone to love and care about- and a way to use my talents. And to make enough money so I can continue using those talents (supplies, equipment, ect).

And that is where I will stand.

really no point in debating w/ anyone here, at least for me anymore. I can't take anyone who says Jesus never existed serious, and everyone else points the "holier than thou" finger, which again to me is soooooo played out and tired.

Imagine a group of people who study/read about oranges, thinking about them, discussing them, conceptualizing, theories/philosophies and what have you.

Now imagine somebody is walking home from this "readers of oranges groups" and someone hands them an orange. They hold it, smell it peel it, see it, taste it, all the senses get involved, the taste the feeling of citrus running through blood stream, the satisfaction, the excitement of it all.

Now imagine this "experiencer of oranges" goes back to tell his "readers of oranges" friends what happened to him. He starts explaining the juice that flows from the slices when you bite in, and the citrus that burst from the pores of the peel when its ripped open, the smell, and the satisfaction.

The "readers of oranges" say, Wait a minute, these things you talk about are nowhere in our writings and readings, these extra things you talk about, and none of it adds up to our theories and philosophies of oranges. WHo do you think you are coming back here and trying to say you're an authority of Oranges??? Get out of here!!!!!!

And the "experiencer of oranges" says, "Come on guys, just come with me and you can taste them for yourself and know what its like." But his invitation falls on deaf ears as the "readers of oranges" have already made up their minds, theories & philosophies.

Or in another example ....what if there existed a man who knew the answer to everything and really knew it inside out, from the perspective of the things themselves, he could shift his consciousness out of his body and enter it into another person to see it from their perspective or from an atom's perspective, a bird, wind, water.

Now Imagine if this guy walked around trying to teach the world the ultimate truth about things!!!! You know what would happen???? People would argue with him til their lungs turned blue because most people defend ideas and theories as "readers of things" because they like them and how they fit their own view on things.

Its like Nationalism. The stupidest thing ever, every country says they are the best, every race says they are the highest, every sports fan roots for his team and everyone else sucks.

It's all relative, and yet you cant say there is no such thing as absolute truth, for by saying so you just made an absolute statement.

....just a fragment of me ranting

Also to Rintendo, I like your statement, about asking those who "claim" Jesus never existed to put forth some names of respectable members of Academia in large numbers. I dont think it can be done, which is why I cant take those who claim that seriously. Watch out though, because now that you stated something, your gonna be pointed at with the "holier than thou" finger.
___________-
Question of the day: What if there actually really are people that are holier than other people? If one guy is killing babies as a hobby with an insatiable bloodlust and another guy is spending his every waking moment in meditation and prayer because he has an insatiable Lovelust for God's presence ....wouldn't that by virtue make Number 2 more holier than number 1 if a third party is looking at these two????

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Matthew 6:33

I’ve found solace/comfort/answers when I started doing this….

I little OT interpretation if you will?

“Kingdom?” A place where we humans put God’s way of living, under his authority…the kingdom is where ever we are making the effort to do ‘love mercy and do justly’

“Righteousness?’ Big ‘religious’ word I know! It means the application of goodness, the rubber meets the road…wherever we are, what ever we do…we should look out for the other guy…doesn’t have to be BIG…it could be a smile and a thank you…it could be, holding the door open for others…it could be returning a grocery item in the bottom of the cart the cashier missed…simple stuff….look around and you’ll see opportunity!

“…all these things…” stuff we need to be fulfilled!

My savior said…”I HAVE COME TO BRING ABUNDANT LIFE TO MY FOLLOWERS!”

You snarked that miracles do not occur in non-western nations. Other people who have lived in Africa or South Asia can back me up on this...you see more of what we can categorize as "miracles" in nations like that than you do in the West. I've volunteered for Hospice both at home and abroad. I've seen things that will break your spirit in half and things that will uplift.

If you are really curious and open-minded, schedule an appointment with an oncologist and ask him if he has witnessed anything that defies medical science. We have a lot of training in Hospice and I remember being briefed to expect some "miracles" and not to be afraid. There isn't an oncologist of my aquaintance without stories of "miracles". Why and when they happen, or why don't they happen...I don't know, nor could I guess as to the reason, but I have seen miracles that defy medical science and can even put you in touch with people who were eat up with cancer on one Xray and that Cancer was gone the next.

I have no answers as to the why's. I just know what I've seen.

Yeshua was a very common name.

However, as much as anyone is certain of anything that happened 2000 years ago, if you build a case according to the various accounts (Gospel accounts, codices, Gnostic, Talmudic, and those still in research that require NDAs to obtain), you begin to either suppose through high coincidence that these various Yeshua's have similar traits and pontifications, or that the oral tradition is quite close to authentic insofar as it is speaking of a single individual.

I have to run and grab something but will be back on and if you are interested in this topic and not trying to have a point-by-point, I can share (briefly) my dissertation with you.

Dude you certainly are one angry guy (and rightly so) we live in a material world indeed.

You surely must have some redeeming qualities no ? you say you have some talent what in ?

Why not use this thread to get the christians to help you out a bit, if I could do anything personally then i would but I don't have access to the paranormal and the christians claim they do.

So this is all the christians have to do --Mark 11:24:
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

It's that simple, dude they'll help you get a wife in no time, while your waiting this is worth a watch

Good Wolf:

I Corinthians 15:3-7 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that heappeared to Peter and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to MORE THAN FIVE HUNDRED of the brothers at the same time, MOST OF WHOM ARE STILL LIVING, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind: I will SING with my spirit; but I will also SING with my mind. If you are praising God with your spirit, how can one who finds himself among those who do not understand say "Amen" to your thanksgiving, since he does not know what you are saying?

Now, there is not much doubt that Paul wrote this letter as it begins with Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes, He gives a name of another believer in his letter to the church in Corinth. Also, note that Paul says that The risen Christ appeared to all the apostles but also the 500. Now, he also mentions that some of these witness are still living so anyone could go and ask them what they saw and get proof for themselves.

As I stated before Rome had historians who kept careful records of what was going on with the Christians. Jesus is mentioned several times. Also, there is the belief altho, it hasn't been proven that Pilate and his household became Christians after Jesus was crucified.

It is what it is. You either choose to believe or not. My heart chooses to believe. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a woman (man), I put childish behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; THEN I shall know fully, even as I AM FULLY KNOWN. And now these three remain: FAITH, HOPE, and LOVE. But the greatest of these is LOVE.

Now, I know when I pray my prayers are heard. I FEEL the spirit of God touch my spirit and it is beautiful. It is like two hearts singing. The love is amazing as well as just being humbled in His presence. That is what Jesus gave to us. Yes, I know him in a very personal way.

Peace in Christ our Lord,
Grandma

Dude still can't find the bit where jesus says, except or but, he's pretty specific wiht his instruction in relation to prayer, nothing taken out of context simple instruction to boot.

Matthew 7:7 Jesus says:
Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
Ask and you will receive. What could be simpler than that?

In Matthew 17:20 Jesus reiterates that same message:
For truly, I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.
Since a mustard seed is a tiny inanimate object about the size of a grain of salt, it is easy to imagine that the faith of a mustard seed is fairly small. So, paraphrasing, what Jesus is saying is that if you have the tiniest bit of faith, you can move mountains.

Jesus says something similar in Matthew 21:21:
I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.

The message is reiterated Mark 11:24:
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

In John chapter 14, verses 12 through 14, Jesus tells all of us just how easy prayer can be:

"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son; if you ask anything in my name, I will do it.

In Matthew 18:19 Jesus says it again:
Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Hate Jesus? Never met the guy, so I really have no opinion. It is the messengers that I do not take kindly to. Yes, you are commanded to spread the word, but YOUR word is not something I want to hear. I am quite comfortable with MY spirituality; in preaching your opinion to me does not alter my beliefs. So, I say, when in my presence STFU.

angel of lightangelo:

The proof you seek is before you. It is I and all others who are followers of Christ. We did not see him. We were not with him. We did not hear him. But after 2,000 years we do FEEL him. He is in us and we are in him. Many, choose to be a follower knowing even that they may have to give up members of their family.

If there is no resurrection of the dead; then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still lost in your sins.

Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes ALSO THROUGH A MAN. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.

It is what it is, you either believe or you don't. We were made by our creator to be creatures of fee will. I choose to believe. But, not only what is in the bible, but what makes my spirit soar and sing. When I am humbled in His loving presence there is not greater love and sweeter song in my heart. I cannot show this to you. I can only give you a very poor statement as to my personal walk with my savior and Lord Christ Jesus.

Peace to you,
Grandma
