No doubt, mobilizing warships is no small matter.

I watched a video on Sky's website that says Russia is suffering major casulaties and underestimated the Georgian forces.

Right now, the video says Georgia has the upper-hand, but Russia is bringing in more troops.

Actually Georgian troops have been repelled at both major fights - in Tskhinvalli and Zagarskay Road. Russian and Ossetian forces report that Georgians lost as many as 15-20 tanks plus many BMPs south of Tskhinvalli. There are many pictures on various Russian websites of Georgian armor burning.

And so far no update on Russian army casualties, which so far stand at just 15 (10 killed during innitial Georgian shelling).

You're right, once the Oil stops flowing into Europe because of damaged or destroyed Pipelines .. the EU is going to step-up some pressure.

It will already cost alot of money and repair to fix it, but Russia continues to hammer away while Georgian forces are holding their own giving the Russian Bear a Rouse.

Maloy could you please tell us from where did you hear about the Turkish navy news. Even if it is a rumour, is the rumour from a credible source?

Actually BP reports now that the pipeline has been shut-off since August 6th because of unrelated accident.

And the only pressure EU will step up is with pen and paper, writing angry letters to Medvedev.

And Georgian forces aren't holding anything. All major news sources report they have fell back from Tskhinvalli with many casualties. Georgian artillery positions are being vacated as well.

On rosbalt forums.

forum.rosbalt.ru...

No credible source yet, but suddenly a lot of talk all over the place. Some ATS forumers have picked it up before me.

Perhaps this is just an example of misleading and false news that this conflict doesn't need.

Maybe it's just our Western sources then Maloy. Sky is reporting it is Russia who has suffered major casualites.

How can you bomb a Pipeline and not damage or destroy it?

I guess we'll have to wait and see .. the report on the Pipeline has flip-flopped numerous times already.

I beleive there is something true about the rumours. Maybe the people have blown it out of proportions but there must be a bit which is true. Rumours start for a reason, not just randomly. Someone may have seen it on some news site which has inside info.

I haven't seen anything in the two sites I found after a quick search, Today’s Zaman and Turkish Daily News, but I was in a hurry, maybe I missed something.

There are also Turkish channels on TVUPlayer, but I don't know if there is any in English or if any ATS member speaks Turkish.

Another unconfirmed report now, that Russian war ships prevented entry for a Moldovan transport vessel into the port of Poti, and the vessel turned around. This could mean that the Black Sea fleet is at Poti already.

Sky says:

Georgia also claimed that Russian fighter jets targeted the major Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline but missed. The pipeline carries oil to the West from Asia. Azerbaijan halted oil exports via the Georgian ports of Batumi and Kulevi, according to the head of its state oil company.

I think the 'Russians missed' is just Georgian propaganda.

Well Gergia has apparently downed 10 Russian aircraft captured 2 pilots(1dead) and KO'd 40 armoured vehicles.
According to reports Georgia has lost 50 people with 400 hundred wounded...

Also reports of NATO(Turkey?) armoured vehicles and supplies headed to S Ossetia.
Ukraine is also supplying Georgia with weaponry, many eastern bloc states are backing and support Georgia.

For sure, we will have to use a fine tooth comb on all the info we are digging up. As is normal, truth goes first in a war. We need to keep reminding ourselves of this and wait for confirmation or other links to the same news. The last thing we need is for us to be our own scare-mongers because already the info that may or may not be confirmed is scary enough.

Once again i would ask for sources. Specially the part which says Ukraine and Turkey are arming Georgia.
