CNN News Channel hourly report just came on and stated the National Security Council was in touch with the Russian President trying to get him to stop the assault on Georgia.
He refused to stop.
CNN also reported that the US is seriously thinking about intervening .. whether that's true or not remains to be questioned.

The Sky News television coverage has been fantastic. They have an expert on the ground (right in the middle of the action). He was communicating to the studio a few moments ago and it sounded like he was about to get his head blown off. He said it was completely hectic there and is becoming 'too close for comfort.'

It crazy, because the US went to war with Russian-backed North Korea in defending South Korea. Again with North Vietnam against South Vietnam.
Now yet another scenerio.
It doesn't look good now as the US gave a really firm warning that Russia must stop now or else ..(CNN TV about 20 minutes ago).

'The war in South Ossetia could be the most dangerous flashpoint since the Cuban crisis', says top historian
What happened in the Balkans in 1914 is the classic example of lesser allies drawing their powerful backers into a conflict which had nothing to do with them directly.
And I fear that the South Ossetia could be a terrible trigger point for our time, just as Sarajevo was in 1914.
In 1919, only five years after Sarajevo, our foreign secretary Arthur Balfour opposed getting involved in the civil wars then convulsing the Caucasus.
Does either Moscow or Washington really want to go over the brink for the sake of a small partner? We avoided superpower mutual suicide during the Cold War but could this Caucasus conflict trigger it today?

Im not so sure how this is going to turn out.
However. Were F***** if we try to help georgia.
Most of our men are in iraq. We cant fight RUSSIA, of all countrys. It would end before the public even knew it started. With a couple big bangs.
