Maybe this was planned people? Maybe this was Bush plan for he can stay in office

I never bought into the idea tha bush would try to start another war to stay in office, but if the US gets involved in this. I dont know.

Maybe weve been looking at iran as the starting point when we should have been looking at georgia ?

This is not at the panic stage yet.......until the U.S. or NATO have direct military conflict at all in this area......people shouldn't worry about WWIII

But I think that this easily can spread into something uncontrollable if cooler heads dont prevail.

Why do I get the feeling this is a set up for war with Iran? Why on 8/8/8? Why there?

Well, first of all, Iran is only 100 miles from Georgia. If Armenia or Azerbaijan get sucked into this conflict, or especially Turkey, then US troops may get deployed to those locations.

If that happens, then Iran will have US Troops totally surrounding Iran:
West=Iraq
East=Afghanistan
North = Georgia/Armenia
South = Persian Gulf

If I were playing Chess, I'd start to get nervous if my enemy had my king surrounded on all sides. Check mate can't be far away...

Sky News have said the Russian Planes that have been shot down are SU-25's

en.wikipedia.org...

Some of the scenes on Sky are horrible, people lying in rubble and people helping others get out.

Yes, yes. Air power is vary important. Most of the US power is not even being used at the moment. There is no need for B-2's in Iraq right now. Or any air power for that matter. Sure from time to time air power is needed but apaches can cover most of that.

If the US was needed to support Georgia and the US could take air superiority then that would be all Georgia needs. The only problem with taking air superiority is that Russia could plan air attacks at any time. When you are invading a country you can attack air bases which will stop plans from taking off but the US cannot attack Russia airbases. If this starts this battle must be fought in Georgia, anything else would turn this into a much bigger battle.

Mm.

Actually, you know things aren't great when the BBC's main man on the ground says that, in all honesty, the situation is now 'extremely grave' (the BBC are usually a bit more reserved in terms of how they report, I think).

This is true. US planes would have to take off from the Gulf or where-ever available. The US also has alot of refueling tankers for mid-air refueling of bombers etc.

It would be a tough task for the US, but with a little help from NATO forces, the job could potentially be done.

Russia isn't what it once was, is throwing it's weight around to quickly after an economic boom, but that boom is no-where to Russian net-worth and resources as it was in the 80s.

When they report "This is the BBC, fighting has turned back and we're geting he fudge out of here" you know its time to worry. haha

Anyone heard anyhing on what Georgia used to shoot those planes down??

UPDATE::

Sky News:
George Bush to make statement on Georgia this morning. He is still in Beijing.

Let's just hope he chooses his words wisely, because I think Russia is a bit peeved at the moment. Georgian President is on Sky News after the break saying he is asking parliment to impliment Martial Law.

Listen to me now people...this is the beginning of something BIG. call it WWIII or whatever..but it is.

also, you all have to stop viewing the world in terms of nation-states. "its the US thats at fault...NO its Russia, no its.." Wake up SHeeple.

The masses demand war. THey dont want to admit it but they DEMAND it. WHY ELSE do people WIllingly give power over to the state? The masses/sheeple created the nation as an artificial womb so that they dont have to work or be responsible...So that they can have food and shelter without going out and hunting. These games of war and so on are created by the Illuminati who DOES WHAT THE MASSES ASK for. After all, who pulls the triggers, who drops the bombs? NOT the few and elite (illuminati)

By getting loans, and not hunting and giving power over instead of being responsible, the result is all of this.

And the war did NOT bring the US out of the depression, it was the system of total control that allowed the US to come out of the depression (sure the war allowed the system of complete control to be implemented but u get the point).

IF the people really did not want war...it would stop in a second. But simple logic dictates that as long as people are willing to be slaves (by loaning money, joining armies and saying "I ONLY FOLLOWED ORDERS", willingly giving power over to political GODS (ever notice how they always promise EVERYTHING but deliver NOTHING and YET the masses still go on voting...hmmm) wars will continue.
good luck to all of you.

The US has already given a stern warning beyond the typical "Show some restraint" message. A warning was issued recently saying Russia must stop or face severe consequences.

John McCain has really stepped in and done some good thing over the last 24hrs. - more than Bush. McCain recommended the Security Council convene to discuss the matter and get the Russian President to back-off. He also gave the stern warning on behalf of the Security Council. McCain is showing leadership which is more than I can say for Bush at the moment.

The US must stand firm behind the words otherwise will never be taken seriously in future matters. The US cannot show weakness here.
