It's the mental, cultural attitude towards - and the consequent treatment of - those who are in a subordinated position (women) or helpless (children, animals, etc.) that is the real measure of any civilisation.

Crazed Killers can be anywhere in the world. Sociopaths who have no conscience what-so ever! Here's a mother who could careless about her own children. Greed and drugs were her preference, over her own flesh and blood. Many times it's the children who suffer and it's a global thing. I don't believe the killers religion was ever mentioned.

This guy made a few mistakes...

1. Graphically killed a child in public
2. did it in predominantly Islamic country.

the western world's child murderers can torture rape and then kill a child and might get 10 min coverage on Nancy Grace before the american public gets bored of it and turns the channel to Americas next top model.

You can say the same about Islam. Murdering children isn't party of real Muslim beliefs. That people think everyone who does something in the name of god or religion is always sane just shows their ignorance.

Anyway, this report says nothing of his religion or that he did this in the name of religion.

Some people are just pointing out that beheading is an issue which seems to occur more often in Islamic areas- this is not to say it does not happen elsewhere, but it is much more prevalent in Islamic countries/cultures
