Federal Officials: At Least 32 Dead After Virginia Tech University Shooting

Just got back from dinner with soem of my friends. My friends friend was actually one of the people shot today. He was shot in the arm. Close and thank goodness he is fine. God Bless everyone who was affected by this.

What gets me is that they aren't releasing a name or anything else on this guy. They keep saying, "This is not related to terrorism," yet, they won't tell us anything more. If it were you or me who done this, our name,address and every other piece of personal information would be known. God knows are face would be splattered all over the place.

Cool.. I was thinking that since we dont have a school-wide PA system (Which VA Tech had but utilized it late) how would we know if something happened? I feel like we have so many 'easy targets Think of all the people at the reitz during lunch. Well i guess all colleges have 'easy targets' I was just curious as to what our school may have done diff. or the same if this had been us. ...BTW "Bowling for Columbine" was an excellent movie that I think can help explain the rise of school shootings. Regardless how you feel about Moore he does a great job of analyzing the whole situation IMO

This incident appears to have a familiar smell of what we witnessed in hollywood. Allegedly the 2 shooters involved in the hollywood shootout were robbing a bank but they never made an attempt to escape they just shot at police they did make a small attempt to flee but i was'nt fooled. It looks to me that they were martyrs or they were fall guys to the big picture. If anyone is familiar with the new world order which is associated with freemasonry it is easy to understand that they have made many attempts to disarm the world. Todays shooting in virginia amounted to 33 deaths 33 a masonic number the 2 may not be related in the recent shootings but I know that this incident will have influence on gun laws which is exactly what the new world order predicts. The hollywood shootings occured in hollywood and hollywood is the magic wond that tricks and decieves. I was once told that Merlin had a wand called hollywood which was made of hollow wood he used his wand to trick and decieve and surely enough they believed. I think guns are not a good thing but remember that police are not really our champion defenders and our military and government are not going to protect us they are planning to correct us most likely by force and to disarm us gives them the strenght to mistreat us.

A picture of a handcuffed person was later found out to be a reporter from the college newspaper who was asking too many questions while the event was still live.

They cuffed him and later released him according to another member of the paper.

Yeah, that's what I keep hearing. What was his name? Was he a citizen? A student? Why the obfuscation about this?

No its not a good point, Ive yet to see someone go on a rampage strangling 30+ people at a school.

guns are different because there is no defence against them and its easy to kill dozens of people. Thats not so with bare hands or knives.

trust me, you ban guns and people will revert to using their hands, feet, frying pans, knives, you name it, to kill someone. People kill people,not objects. It is a very good point. Thank ya.

The research bares this point out. When guns are banned, other types of violent crimes increase.

If people want to kill someone, they're going to find a way to do it. And if they want to use a gun, they'll find a way to do it. By allowing guns legally and having a serial number tracking system, we have at least some chance of finding an offender.

Most people who own guns are responsible and don't use them on people. People are responsible with all sorts of dangerous implements. The prevalence of guns does not cause the violence because, simply, fewer people per capita own guns today than in the past; we no longer hunt our own food. Most people aren't in the military. Yet incidents of violence are up. It's a cultural problem, and not one of the prevalence of guns. If anything, it's the glorification of guns. If every mobster and criminal owned a nail gun, we'd be wanting to get nail guns off the street.

The causation here is a function of other factors, and that is what needs to be remembered.

In a chaotic society that we live in, if one or two people on campus with a CCW and the knowledge on how to use their firearm, that gunman may have been stopped sooner.

People that go on a rampage need to be stopped, these individuals will obtain guns, bombs or whatever they need regardless of what laws are in place, so the first person to have the power to stop them will end the rampage.

How is it I know this? Well after the Columbine incident I was in law enforcement in the Metro Detroit area. Every city in the area scrapped the idea and protocol for waiting for SWAT because of Columbine and went with what is called "First Shooter Response", which means the first officer or officers to the scene respond immediately to the perp and neutralize them.

The longer you wait the more people die, that is and has been proven over and over in these situations.

I see many people in my classes who wear shirts that advertise SIG arms, H&K, the second amendment, even local militias, in my physics and physiology classes. I wonder if they will think to put them on this week.

Theres an update that shows todays website hits with a massive increase from previous days. He makes reference to that and is happy about all the hits.

The "obfuscation" comes from the fact that because the shooter is dead, they can't release his/her name until the next of kin is notified.

They have not released any more info and still won't confirm if the killer is the same one from ealier but off camera the Chief of police said he beleives the killer is the same.

Right. I want to associate the blogger with this,but Flyer said that his blog had been updated since the time of the shooting. So,I don't know. Also, usually when someone does something like this, the governmnet or whoever take down blogs and such that were made by the individual.

Of couse they will. Instead of shootouts and murders. There will be more fist fights. Surely thats a good thing and you are trying to make it look like its bad.

All I have heard,I don't have access to a television, but I've heard on the radio that it was an Asian male that was wearing a "pink top hat" that did the shooting.

I don't think that naming someone as the shooter on ATS regardless of your research would be good until the name is released by the authorities.

FNC says that the police know the name but haven't released it yet, so we should know the name soon.
