Tell me, how many allies does Russia have?

How many "hot wars" has NATO fought?

I suppose you are too young to remember our Falklands war.

Which we fought thousands of miles away.

You may have missed the fact that since Putins War, more countries have voluntarily joined NATO, no bribery or blackmail involved.

NATO is a massive alliance.

"PS: And folks here thinks we can beat Russia. LOL"

If Russia is still grinding away at a country with no navy or air force to speak of, how they going to roll thru Poland, Germany or get anywhere near the UK?

It's painfully obvious that they can't roll, let alone rock.

Someone tell me which hot war the west and or NATO has actually won since WW2. I can't think of any.

The Gulf War.

But if you look at the other recent ones, we’ve been able to project half way across the world and complete the objectives of taking the countries with surprising speed.

It’s the heart and minds campaign we lost, because many times we shouldn’t be there.

But in Afghanistan and Iraq, our losses were low compared to other modern wars. So while we lost the long term objective of “stability”, the actual execution of day to day military operations were very successful.

Russia can’t project to a country next door. They rely too heavily on rail and struggle with the logistical problems a fluid battle field provides.

Logistics is where the US excels (maybe not from a cost perspective).

We can have an operational Burger King anywhere in the world for our soldiers in 24 hours.

Just a small point where Vietnam was concerned.

Your nation's hands were somewhat tied.

You could have walked that one in and pulverized the NV and VC forces back to the Stone Age if allowed to really hit them where it hurt.

This Ukraine war will eventually be the end of NATO.

How come?

Sadly some believe it should be an echo chamber.

Not to mention, South Korea was pushed to a small 140 mile line (Pusan Perimeter).

That got pushed back and South Korea is a flourishing country next to a case study showing the effects of communism.

That's another conflict where hands where tied.

Douglas MacArthur's for instance, which might have been for the best in hindsight.

After 6 or 7 years here, there is one indisputable truth I have learned. 9 times out of 10, endless bantering, or discussion is an effort in futility and a waste of time.

Huh, allies help each other during wars...
Who knew? 😂

Let's talk truth.
Russia invaded a country. "Justified or not?"🤷
They underestimated the resistance.
They are dropping young men and equipment in a meat grinder.
Both countries are much worse off today and are in for years of recovery in the aftermath.
Basically, everyone loses.

There is no point of contact, between the extended, and the unextended.

If you think discussion is futile, why are you here?

I don't believe either sides propaganda war death estimates. It is war, and that is how warring governments work.

A lot of people are dying on both sides in a war that could have been avoided if Ukraine would have negotiated for peace in the first place. I understand Russia's concerns in keeping it's citizens from being killed and am aware of how NATO wants to control everything too.

I don't trust either side's leaders, there are lots of warmongers seeking power and control on both sides of this war. A lot less Ukrainians would be dead if the west was not supplying them weapons to kill each other and extenuate the war. I am sure if diplomacy was properly conducted they could have minimized the casualties, but Zelinski seems to just want to keep it going and show he has power. He probably dreams of being in charge of NATO someday.

To be fair Carp, not all who come here look for spirited debate and discussion. Some are here for bigfoot, aliens and lizzard people.

Safe bet people are dying, do you mean the estimates to be more or less than stated?

The fact is an entire generation will be severely diminished and that's on both sides.

You mean, capitulate and surrender?

The War could have been avoided if Putin hadn't started it.

If your country was invaded, how would you feel if folk told you you should just roll over and not defend yourselves?

In charge of NATO?!!

Bit of a stretch mate.

I'm being polite.

I don't know.

Edit: I could detail my attitude now but I don't see any need to . That discussion is off topic.

It’s Ukraines fault they got invaded and are getting land stolen from them?

It’s not Putin’s fault for invading and taking land from neighbors?

The largest nation by land mass is actively growing its borders, and it’s the fault of the country being occupied? How’s that work?
