People deserve a living wage and a fair share of profits for the work they do.

No.

Not every job is worthy of a 'living wage'. Burger flipping is not.
Engineering that required 4 or 5 or 6 years of schooling and brain
power is. Medical doctor requiring massive schooling and brain
power is. Burger flipping is not.

And no, just because you have a job somewhere doesn't entitle you
to share in the profits of the owner of that establishment. You get
paid to do a job. That's it. This isn't communism.

Chains which want to remain in the state will HAVE to invest in automation now. That or have their burgers priced in payments...

Newsome is using Biden's playbook.

Are you guys serious? $20 x 40hrs = $800.
$800 x 52 weeks = $41,600 per year, before tax.

You guys make it sound like its a lot. It’s really not. What do you want them to make $7.50 an hour? Do you want them on welfare?

We want them to be able count back change to us. Not look blankly into space when we hand them coins.

Already, burgers are $8.50, and regular fries are around $3.00. Then add California tax. What will it cost now?

How has in n out survived as a ca based company that pays rather well for a fast food place and still doesn't charge 8.50 for a burger

Also never had a order wrong I could pay them in change and the line wouldn't slow down

i think this is a poor comparison, they have what....4-5 stores now in Cali, when i first had one they had 2 and that was over 20 years ago. I remember when they opened the first store in Arizona, now i think they have 2 in AZ. Compare that to a BK on every other block.

My point being they do a massive amount of business, demand is high for them even though their burgers are crap.
Also im pretty sure you pay more than 8.50 there but at least you get the whole meal...

Look at 5 guys, they have excellent burgers (even better fries), fairly quick but im NOT paying $13 for a burger AND pay more for fries and pay more for a drink, that's why many of them are going under, oh yeah and they pay their employees pretty well from what ive heard

I get that you cannot answer a very simple question.

Sure can toss a salad tho.

Let me ask you. You own a McDonalds franchise in CA. All of a sudden, you have to pay all your workers $20 an hour.

What are you going to do to stay in business?

Lets keep it simple and focused on the little guy, and my question. You own a McDonalds franchise. Whatchu gonna do?

There are 3 In and Out burger places in driving distance to me. I think they have grown quite a bit.

They have a very limited menu. One way they keep cost and complexity down. Simplifies their operation.

So does Chick Fillet.

Fast food places will automate and not hire as many people. I already visited one McDonalds in NC that had no cashier working and I had to order via a kiosk menu after going inside. It was probably one of the fastest food orders I’ve had among local fast food places.

yeah I had to check after I wrote that, I guess they have over 300 locations now, been a while since I was on that side of the country.

So does five guys, just burgers, hot dogs and fries with a soda machine
They do pay their employees ok, about 16.00 average here in FL. a few $ above the state min.
but $13 for a burger is ridiculous.
They just tried to open one down the street from me just over a year ago, its already gone...

I had the 2 piece Poppy's Chicken last night was 15.95

It's crazy.

But $20 an hour will shut them all down, unless they are kiosk. You will have to get out of your car, go in, punch a robot, stand in a line to get your meal, swipe a card and go. Or, you can pre-order on an app and pick it up at the drive thru by name or number or something.

what drives prices up?

those who think they are exceptional and shouldd
be paid 20 times more than anyone else...

only when everyone gets paid the SAME will
prices even out, and stabilize.. everyone can afford to eat

to entice higher education, or skills, ... how about
LOSING INDOCTRINATION,

#2, bring back parents and helpers in the classroom,

#3 give percs for higher learning like free house,
or free swimmin pool, or a free car.

#4 bonuses for life changing, energy saving type ideas

#5 forget high school,
and have the job company
teach the student only the stuff needed for the job
after 6 years of basics,,, if the job requires chemistry
the student has chemistry class from 7th grade on....

in olden times if the father was a carpenter, so was his sons
each generation getting better and better, with the
young ones coming up with good ideas, innovation..
and after generations had the FINEST CRAFTSMANSHIP
that we CANNOT GET TODAY

have the governmint/school, test the child to both
find out what he excels at, and his interests, and MATCH THEM,
have diffrent schools teach diffrent subjects, for example,,,
a carpenter, electrician and plumber wont be needing
TWELVE YEARS OF ENGLISH CLASS 6 is more than plenty..

from 7th grade you pick your 5 jobs, then get tested
to find best match, and ONLY TEACH WHATS NEEDED afterwards

but as long as elite *ssholes like zuckerberg gets paid 10,000 x more
than those he employs expect much much worse to come

AND NOBODY SHOULD BE BIGGER THAN A COUNTRY

after taxes, a worker on min wage in florida would have to work for 2 hours to get a burger and a drink.

the same money could get you a pound of ground beef, a loaf of bread, some cheese and some soda at the grocery store.

It blows my mind how many people don't have a basic understanding of how wage is suppo

Here, we've got a minimum wage and a starting wage.

Starting wage is around $7.5

You'll never see a fast food job listing under 16.

Now, if I had been born stupid, I could have worked hard for 15 years to with my way up from 7 to 16 an ho.ur, but my thanks would be punk kids with no degree being paid the same as I was with zero experience

Ever stop to think for a second that maybe everyone is underpaid?

And why the hell shouldn't the people that do the labor, that makes the money, get a share of profits?

No.

Burger flipping is a task that doesn't require an education and doesn't require brain power. It gets paid minimal wages because anyone can do it. Whereas someone like an engineer has to put the time and effort and money into going to college for 4 or 5 or 6 years. And their job takes a lot of brain power to do. They deserve more than a burger flipper because they put in more schooling and have to use their brains more. And if they screw up their job, a lot of times people could DIE. Same with a doctor. Same with a pharmacist. etc etc.

And why the hell shouldn't the people that do the labor, that makes the money, get a share of profits?

Because we live in a Capitalist society, not a communist one. People get paid to do a job. The OWNER of the business gets the profits. The business isn't co-owned by the workers. The workers didn't fork out the money to buy the business. The workers don't pay the bills for the business. The workers don't take the risk with investing capital. The workers get paid to do a job. Period.

i did the math based on my last receipt from walmart

1lb ground sirloin, 1 loaf bread, 1 bag shredded cheddar jack, 1 gallon ocean spray cran apple juice ( i dont drink soda so that cost more but soda is cheap AF)

total = 18.56 after tax
min. wage in FL is 12.00/ph (24.00-tax>18.56)

Nobody is expecting fast food workers to be paid like a surgeon. And yes, if your work directly creates profits for the company, then you absolutely deserve to be paid a fair wage and given a a reasonable portion of the profits, thats not communism, its simply common sense. Anyone who says otherwise has been brainwashed by the1%.

You’ve been brainwashed by the 1%. Literally nobody is arguing that a fast food worker should be paid like an engineer, that’s such a strawman arguement. All we are saying is that a fast food workers directly doing the work that creates the profit for a company deserves a fair compensation and portion of the profits they generate. Investors are lazy parasites who do nothing but occasionally sit in a meeting and demand all the profits. They contribute little to nothing for the company when compared to the average worker.

People die from cooks making mistakes as well

I wouldn't trust someone making minimum wage to cook my food

Just as I wouldn't trust a mechanic making minimum wage to fix my car

The 2 jobs pay different and that's fine minimum wage is for jobs where no one will die for a mistake
