It depends which day of the official narrative we believe. A few days ago the "Ukraine is winning by a landslide!" narrative had the Wagner group decimated down to about 5,000 troops.

Yesterday, when the narrative needed to be that they had a serious chance at overthrowing Putin, they suddenly were 25,000 strong, with no explanation of the disparity. They just hope no one notices they contradicted themselves for the 500th time.

Either way...this Wagner push into Russia, has to be a morale booster for the Ukrainian Armed Forces!

How?

The world just witnessed the majority of the Russian population remaining calm, reserved and in support of Putin.

Continuing graduation ceremonies and weddings this weekend like no big deal really.

Enjoy your weekend “fellas”

No, the World just witnessed a very big deal indeed.

But, never mind, nothing to see here, move on etc.

Aren't you dizzy from all that spinning?

I don't think civil war was ever the intent, just a wish by outsiders

i feel like this will cement an increase in quick and violent action in Ukraine to end the conflict, which has been one of Progs goals all along, being against the lengthy and protracted operations.

Prog has said he turning his troops back to their field base "as planned"
Rumors of immunity for his troops
Rumors of him being returned to Africa

Edit: He and "wagner" will disappear, just like Eric Prince and blackwater (Academi LLC aka Constellis)

I don't believe anything supposedly said by Prigozhin until I see him in a video saying it. That has been his M.O. all along. Anything else is likely misinformation. And Prigozhin is savvy enough to know that standing down now means the end of Wagner and his own demise.

Girkin not impressed:

As of today, the Russian Federation has two presidents - the real president, Yevgeny Viktorovich Prigozhin, and Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, the acting president to serve his term. The main purpose of the acting president is to periodically address the real president, kneeling down, with the question: "What do you want, Yevgeny Viktorovich?"

Never, even in my worst nightmare, I couldn't imagine that I would see this shame and destruction of my country.

Cheers

From strongman to object of ridicule in one dumb move.

Putin's crisis is not over...his feathers have been ruffled and his days as an autocratic dictator are numbered; mainly due to his failure in Ukraine with his so-called "special operation".

Actually one of the main reasons, if not the main reason Russia invaded was to protect the Ethnic Russian Ukrainians in Donbass and other Eastern Ukrainian areas who the Ukrainian army, Ukrainian Azovs and Nazis had been attacking and slaughtering since 2014.

By that sort of logic, America should invade the UK to return Northern Ireland to the Irish.

Internal matters are not really the concern of other nations

That's not even CLOSE to same type of logic, not even close.

The same type of logic would be if Millions of American citizens or citizens with American parents/grandparents all lived in one area of Canada. Let's just say Alberta, Canada has 20 million citizens and 95% of them are American or atleast have American parents. In Alberta where all these Americans live, they live with all their American customs (I know Canadian and American customs are essentially the same but for argument sake), they haven't adopted into the Canadian culture. Groups of Canadian Nationalists don't like the Americans, they don't like that they won't drop their American customs, they don't like that they won't live the "Canadian way". The Canadian Nationalists while being backed by the Canadian government launch an attack on the Americans that all live together in Alberta. The Americans fight back but are overpowered by the Canadian army and Nationalists.

Since the USA IS next door to Canada they see that the Americans living in Canada are getting attacked and slaughtered.

You don't think the USA would send armed forces to Canada to protect all the millions of Americans living together in the same part of Canada??

Of course they would. The US sends armed forces across the world to protect a handful of Americans at American embassies, they would surely protect millions of Americans that are under attack.

I got a question based on your misguided theory.

How come if millions and millions of ethnic Russian were being attacked in Ukraine, more refugees from Ukraine ended up in NATO-aligned countries instead of Russia?

one would think if that many citizens were upset about the treatment of the Ukrainian government, they would have went to the country they shared a 1000 km border instead of going further west to NATO and European countries.

In other words, in a country of 42 million, the 2.8 million that went to Russia is a little over 6%

Do they though?
Ask the civilians that were left behind in Afghanistan
Ask the civilians that died in Benghazi, Columbia
Ask the POW's lost in Vietnam

Could this "truce" be just a ploy on Prigozhin's part to re-group, shore up his flank, and gather more forces to his side before the push to Moscow?

I think Prigozhin was hoping he would be the catalyst and others would join , it seems that support didn't materialize so he was on a hiding to nothing , Belarus offered him a way out and he took it , it's hard to see where he goes from here.

So this got me thinking of just how weak the Russian military actually is. Putin needs this junkyard dog to do things that his actual army can not achieve, and here they could, if they wanted to, go all the way to Moscow and Putin had nothing to stop it other than to give in to their demands.

If NATO actually went full force here it would be over very quickly, or Putin would need to push the big red nuke button, but as a military, I'm thinking Russia just fell down a good deal in the position the world thought they were at just before the invasion.

Not sure you point with the POWs, and Columbia, but the other ones were just two people. Hillary and Joe...

i was just going to post something about this, when i saw your post.

if this isn't a sign of how pitiful the paper bears military is, and how they are hurting to the world and the rah rah rah rooshkin sympathizing cheer leaders nothing ever will.

Russia Was Invaded and a city of one million and a couple of military bases were Occupied and they could do nothing to stop it, and came with in what a 130 miles from loosing Moscow while the leadership fled. that is a big difference from what Zelensky did who stayed when rooshkin troops stalled out on the out skrits of Kiev. only thing they did that and that didn't amounted to anything was fire a couple of rockets from helicopters.

even though wagner pulled out, the damage has been done and russia will always look weak from now on.

Prigozhin has left the military HQ in Rostov-on-Don on his way to Belarus where he will now live , on the naughty step ,what happens to Wagner PMC now they've lost their biggest customer remains to be seen.

Yevgeny Prigozhin will move to Belarus under a deal brokered by the Belarusian president to end today's armed mutiny against Russia's military leadership, the Kremlin has said.

The Wagner boss and his fighters will also be safe from prosecution under the agreement, it added.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Alexander Lukashenko had offered to mediate, with Russian President Vladimir Putin's agreement, because he had known Prigozhin personally for around 20 years.

So, the three have known each other for decades
Putin couldn't send nukes to Lukashenko
Prigozhin sends his troops to Voronezh to pick up the nukes
Then gets to retire in Belarus after delivering nukes to Lukashenko
because, "no more corruption and bureaucracy"

???

did I get that right?
