"Russians are fleeing Crimea!"

Zelensky's words were unequivocal: "The Russian (Black Sea) fleet is no longer able to operate in the western part of the Black Sea and is gradually fleeing from Crimea. And this is a historic achievement." This assertion underscores Ukraine's resolute commitment to challenging Russia's presence in the Black Sea region, further symbolizing a shift in the balance of power.

Is this the beginning of the end of Russia's incusion?

Ukraine’s Army Enlists Russians Eager to Fight and Defeat Putin

Ukraine’s military has formed a battalion of soldiers made up entirely of Russian citizens who want to fight against President Vladimir Putin’s invasion.

The Sibir (Siberia) battalion has brought together dozens of Russians and people from ethnic minorities in Russia who traveled via third countries because they wanted to join the Ukrainian army, according to officials at their training camp. Unlike volunteer groups such as the Freedom of Russia legion that have declared support for Ukraine, the soldiers are part of the regular Ukrainian army and expect to be sent into battle very soon.

They include people from groups such as Yakuts and Buryats in Russia’s vast eastern Siberian region who said they wanted independence from Russia and viewed Ukraine’s victory in the war as a step toward that goal.

The article goes on to quote a couple of the Ukrainian/Russian soldiers to say that they are tired of living a poor lifestyle while those serving Putin are wealthy.

Sound familiar?

"Russian defence minister inspects forces in eastern Ukraine
Russia's defence minister Sergei Shoigu has inspected command posts of Russian troops in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region, his ministry has said.

Mr Shoigu, who was heavily criticised by mercenary boss Yevgeny Prigozhin until he was killed in a plane crash in August, has been shown several times this month in TV clips designed to project confidence about the state of Russia's war in Ukraine.

He told assembled servicemen their efforts were giving Ukrainian forces "fewer and fewer opportunities".

Footage from the ministry showed Mr Shoigu disembarking from a helicopter and engaging in discussions with senior military personnel.

Mr Shoigu was also informed of Russian troops' training improvements with drones, the ministry said.

He stressed that commanders should ensure their troops have new winter uniforms and insulated footwear as colder weather sets in." news.sky.com...

"Fighting in Bakhmut actually began in summer 2022, but it became the site of huge Russian losses through the winter and into the next year.

It never had much strategic significance, but became highly symbolic, with Volodymyr Zelenskyy saying defeat there would give the invaders fresh impetus and put a serious dent in the morale of Kyiv's forces.

Ukraine lost the city in late May 2023, due primarily to the efforts of the Wagner mercenary group.

The defeat came shortly before Kyiv launched its long-anticipated counteroffensive, armed with billions of pounds-worth of Western weaponry.

October's map is not so different from April's - illustrating how the return on the West's investment has been smaller than hoped

Ukraine has struggled to push through layers and layers of mines, anti-tank defences and trenches strewn out across the entire front.

In the south, soldiers attempted to punch through Russian-held territory in Zaporizhzhia, hoping to reach the coast and split the Russian army in two.

While some headway was made near the town of Robotyne - where some of Russia's heaviest defences were positioned - little change was made to the wider territorial picture.

To the east, Ukraine made an attempt to reclaim Bakhmut for a second time. This did split Russian forces as Vladimir Putin sought to hold onto the only city his army had gained in months of conflict. For now, he's achieved this.

Defence analyst Michael Clarke told Sky News there are just two weeks of good weather left for Ukraine to make a breakthrough in its counteroffensive. news.sky.com...

Questions may be raised in the West about how long it will continue to fund Kyiv at current levels. news.sky.com...

Massive damage reports following Russian strike near Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant

According to the International Atomic Energy Agency, there was no direct impact from the drones on the nuclear plant; the explosions did not affect the NPP's operations or its connection to Ukraine’s power grid. However, the shock wave damaged the windows of several buildings on the site, including the entrance to the reactor buildings, auxiliary buildings, special equipment units, and training centers. An IAEA team is still assessing the exact scale of the damage.

Thankfully they dodged the bullet there. Nuclear Power Plant was not hit, but nearby civilians still have to deal with the ravages of war.

Well Zanti, while I think the text on the video image is exaggerated, there is no doubt that the outbreak of another war in the Middle East has distracted "the world's" attention from the Russo-Ukraine War.
