Do you think it's possible they don't intend to invade from the north but just make it look like they're going to? Even if Ukraine thinks it's a bluff, it'd be prudent to move some forces that direction just in case, which limits what they can throw at the east.

Some say nothing.

I think Germany is testing the waters. Small acts lead to bigger acts... sometimes...

Maybe Germany and some of these other countries need to do something drastic as it's going to be a cold cold winter.
It is always easier to blame things on war!

judging by history i think what we are already doing is enough, dont forget it took them 10 years to finally give up on afghanistan when usa was using this strategy so its too soon to make the judgement to send military forces.

It may also be a way of supplying a bunch of new conscripts over the winter. Quarter them in Belarus and let them train in an area where they aren't under fire. It is a useful distraction and a relief for a strained Russian logistical system.

Cheers

That's an interesting point. And I would agree except for one minor problem: Russia is losing troops faster than their fighter jets can fly, between KIA's, prisoners and AWOLS. His willingness to throw in conscripts, largely untrained and under supplied, shows his desperation. In this particular case, he may actually NEED that invasion from the north as a divide and conquer tactic much sooner than anyone expects. If reinforcements do arrive, I'd bet they'd be there a VERY short time. like days or less before the order was given to go.

And to underscore the point, here is a video interview of one of the conscripts:

These dudes are being put in there FAST.

i could link to articles all day and you know that

nato, as i have stated, is a trouble maker and does nothing but provoke violence. show me a source where they havent butted in a stoked unnecessary flames? or do you just buy into the hate for msm's latest boogie man?

Prior to 2020 Putin had a well earned reputation as the most acomplished military and geo-political tactician of all world leaders for the 21st century.

Do you honestly expect people to believe Biden and Boris completely outplayed him for years meaning his only option was to wage war on Ukraine under false pretexts of bio weapons labs and nazi super soldiers?

It's getting kind of scary knowing that Russia is willing to use nuclear weapons. The best decision may be to back out and let Russia have Ukraine if the alternative is WW3.

They were not the reasons for the special operation.

But, if we back out, who is next on his list?

A NATO country?

That might really mean WW3.

Appeasement of expansionist dictators has not worked out too well, as history tells us.

Special operation.

But with all the west has done this may turn into a war.

If war does happen I will pit it this way..it will take a long time to rebuild Ukraine.

who is gonna pay for that then may I ask, would it be Russian citizens via taxation? imagine using western tactics to make money out of your own civilians via taxation and w̶a̶r̶m̶o̶n̶g̶e̶r̶i̶n̶g̶ special operations, just shows politicians the world over are ALL the same

Is it good to have a favourite like Mr Putin?, I find them all so distasteful, perhaps there is something wrong with me

I'm a realist.

It's you and your ilk that have been encouraging the escalation

The east and crimea want to be part of Russia. That's something we all need to process z and deal with.

Hopefully no one is next, but letting Ukraine fall to Russia is better than possible nuclear warfare if Putin is willing to go that far. Because far more lives will be ruined and lost if WW3 breaks out.

If Putin is that crazy, its best to let Ukraine fall.

Did our 'ilk' cheer a land grabbing invasion or large scale terror attacks not seen since hitler's 'vengeance' weapons?

It seems you are confused again.

By pinning russia as the bad guy and ukraine as a good guy, yes, absolutely.

Seems you are the one confused.

I think the involvement of Belarus is not unexpected at this stage with Russia in need of troops , I doubt it will concern NATO.

What will concern NATO is the appointment of Sergei Surovikin as commander in Ukraine , implicated in the Biological weapon attacks in Syria and ordering the shooting of pro democracy protesters he is considered a bit of a bad lad.

Stage 3.
