Not saying he isn't gonna pound them any way he can, seems Russia is struggling to hold on to what it can, and even that is slipping away.

Or that's the news we hear in the US, that Ukraine is winning, or is that just to justify the huge checks Congress is constantly sending?

If the news we hear on pretty much every other subject is any indication, it's bull#.

It's BS is pretty much my default mode, especially these last few years, I always read your posts, and read your thoughts on what Putin really wants WBW, excellent analysis, and notice how there isn't an effective argument against it either.

It's a mess but it isn't America's mess, to me it feels like a money pit, and no matter how much cash is thrown at it, it's not going to resolve the deep-rooted issues there.

This is what you said:

Except when this popped off numerous European countries were begging us to send more troops over to deter Putin from invading them next.

You're the one who requires more clarity.

He didn't say that, I did.

Irony of the day right there.

feels like this is our generations Spanish civil war with nato countries just dipping their toes in as they are too distracted fighting amongst themselves and fighting their own populations at home, the real war will only happen later..

I predicted this months ago.
Russia will use Belarus to tie down Ukrainian troops in the NW while it focuses on consolidating gains in the SE.

It was obvious early on that this would be the strategy.

It would also fit into my theory about what Putin's end goal is. I don't believe he ever wanted the entire country, just parts of it in the east.

Let's not ignore the vast Lithium-Oxide deposits in the disputed areas.
timcast.com...

The deposits are the key to Joe's New Green Deal.
He doesn't give a crap about Ukrainians.

That would explain our rather timid "response."

"10% for the Big Guy."

10% of what? Is it $60 Billion now?

Well, I suppose along those lines I could argue that Putin would shoot for the stars by attacking the whole world, and settle for the moon by reuniting the original Soviet Union after it's all said and done. And we're all dead.

No, it won't, because it legally can't. There is no article structure which can be legally enacted for non-member territory offensive/defensive expeditions - including peacekeeping expeditions. The US will have to do it alone or create a coalition unrelated to NATO.

10% of the vast Ukrainian Lithium-Oxide and rare earth mineral deposits located in the disputed areas.

Our victory is imminent, but we need money. And weapons. And foreign volunteers. And beaten up old aircraft. We did have an air force but it’s gone awol or something. Victory any day now. We’re also conscripting the entire male population. Not to replace losses, just because. We also need any old tanks you happen to have. We did have over a thousand tanks before but can’t seem to find them now. Weird that. Victory is assured!

Like the news coming out of Berlin in 1945. Embarassing really.

Not that the Russian version of events is much better mind you.

Exactly the propaganda and manipulation are thick, there aren't any official sides I trust here, not Russian, Ukrainian, NATO, or any of the member countries. Have said that pretty much all along, it's why I ask questions.

Asking questions is tantamount to supporting Putin, apparently.

Yea, every Democrats dream. Get NATO and especially the US involved in another land war in Europe because well, it makes a neat distraction from the economic disaster at home. And we've seen how well that plays out, i.e., Vietnam.

Has it not occurred to anyone else that this is precisely a trap set for NATO and the US to fall into? Klaus Schwab is rubbing his hands together in glee at the thought of a few million dead in a tactical nuke war in Europe.....nicely accelerates the depopulation program AND further weakens the US.

Lol, true, but how do you know he won't at this point? He's threatened to use his nuclear arsenal now for quite some time. So where does this end? Next time around it may be Poland or probably Moldova. He will threaten similarly with the nukes, and waltz in and just take it.

No solution to this. Only from the inside do we stand a chance. The Russian people and military have got to remove him. And by the way, I got a real problem with Ukraine abolishing other political parties too. This isn't a permanent one-way street. Just a temporary one-way passage, kind of like the Crimean Bridge.

Yes exactly, all I said early on was Ukraine was just as corrupt as any country in Eastern Europe, if not more so, and I was told I was attached to Putin's genitalia, he is Hitler and wants to take over the world, or I was Neville Chamberlain.

never once did anybody address the shadiness and corruption of Ukraine, which was and continues to be where my concerns are.

FWIW it's how they have to operate, we could snap our fingers and make Putin slink back to his borders, and end any of his meddling in Ukrainian affairs and there would still be rampant graft and corruption in Ukraine for a long time if not forever

Have no doubt a significant portion of the small arms will find their way into the black market, possibly some of the more sophisticated weapons too

My short answer is I don't know.

I do agree the best outcome would be some kind of internal coup that removes Putin. Then again, how do we know the next leader will be any better?

I'm afraid there are no good outcomes here.

Yeah thanks, I saw that. Discussions also ongoing about a no-fly zone, despite the risks. But I suppose we could get way off topic here. This was more specifically about those troops on the border, and their actual intent. To me that intent is clear. The question is, what is anyone going to do about it. Some say nothing. We will see. Let's amass about 100,000 troops, armor and the works on the western Alaskan border. Guess what Putin. Today we feel like annexing most of Siberia. And we got nukes, too.
