1. In a real, "government of the people, by the people". "You loot, we shoot",.... That is actually a "codified"/"law", ...in The U.S.A.

2. "Civilization/civilians",...must protect themselves, from "Barbarians". Being "barbarian" or "civilized", depends on "social standards"

3. "Civilization/civilians" can not depend, on "the hired help" to do it for them. .... That's just a historical fact.

4. That brings us to. ... Regarding "democracy". No "civil people/civilization", wants a majority of barbarians.

5. Which brings us back to #1 and why The U S.A., is a "Constitutional Republic" and not a "democracy". Because if you loot, we shoot. Doesn't matter who you are, civilian or "government". ... Being civil, ain't rocket science and doesn't require much "education".

Looting from homes of people who had to evacuate or had their homes destroyed is the epitome of callousness.

That's not really looting. That's burglary. Looting is always done during some kind of mass hysteria, usually after a natural disaster or during a riot.

Imagine trying to get your life together after a huge natural disaster while law enforcement is stretched thin and some people are acting as if it’s a free for all.

Well we also need to understand you better not be "wandering" in an area you do not live in. First it is typically illegal to do that after a disaster, and second if you are a stranger there the locals might not take too kindly to you.

Some fellow Americans, our country folk, have lost, just about everything, other than their life. Picking up what is left of their history, and property. Then sustaining them , till they can stand again. Should be the/our priority.
Doesn't matter the color of skin, or genetic heritage. They're our people! Americans!

Soo I am glad that DeSantis is taking care of Floridians first and give them the tools to defend themselves and their property.

My son lives in St. Pete and he is a homeowner, I am glad he can defend his home and his property from the maggots.

Here's the way I see it. Scoping out a house that has been evacuated, but is otherwise intact, is breaking and entering and burglary. Stealing from a home that's been destroyed, due to war or a natural disaster, is looting. Stealing from a big box store in the midst of a melee, like we've seen teen gangs do at various stores, and during natural disasters, is looting.

Also, stealing food, water and medical supplies in retail stores, in the aftermath of a disaster, is also looting.

Agreed that taking advantage of a disaster, to steal and damage the property of others, is despicable.
It's not predatory behavior : but more parasitic, or scavenger-like.

It's sad to me, that it's even a thing with humans : but similar things do happen throughout nature.
From penguins, other birds, some kinds of fish robbing nesting materials, to things like seagulls turning on a weak member of the flock, and pecking them to death.

Thousands and thousands of people out there, planning long and hard, how to scam honest people out-of their stuff.
Blows my mind sometimes, to contemplate what humanity could have achieved, if our Masters™ weren't such parasites, that they have turned 90% of us into ponies hauling carts, chasing carrots.

Imagine if all of those criminal minds, along with all of the brilliant folks working in Marketing™ and Advertising™ : would dedicate their efforts to helping others, in a Star-Trek type of society ?

I have a feeling we’re not actually going to hear too many stories of people getting shot there though.

I think it’s probably a hyperbolic reminder that the state allows stand your ground to deter people from looting.

And I’d assume most citizens down there wouldn’t be quick to pull the trigger. More likely to say scram or I will shoot. Most people don’t want to take the life of another.

of my fellow Americans on the ground, after Katrina hit Louisiana. .. I am proud and honored, that I can say, I was there to help in anyway that I could.

The big "question ", when we hit ground? Was "weapons"? What do we do? (I was in an MP Unit that had never had to enforce "military law" let alone, "civil/civilian" law).
And I was just the "Motor Sergeant". But that didn't matter to me.

I took an oath to defend the C.O.T.U.S., ...just like any other American Soldier.
No self respecting American, Civilian or Soldier, would disarm a fellow American, unless they are asking for It.

All That Gov. DeSantis is doing? Is reminding the heathen people, that a "free people", are "armed".

But? If I was "The Governor"?
I would've went a step farther, and activated "the state militia".

Then any heathen violating "The Law"? Is under "State Courts Martial Code", not civil code. (Penalty, is higher).
Governor's have a lot of authority/power by law.

After Hurricane Irene, it was mandatory evacuation, they came and took everyone out in boats.
And local police did not watch the area - when we went back, everyone had been robbed.
