Strong words coming from the Governor there. As a right wing gun owner and Trump voter, I don’t think those words should have ever come out of his mouth. I wouldn’t want to pull the trigger and take someone’s life for stealing any number of televisions. Its just not worth taking a life over, EVER. The looters are scum, yes, and should be punished, but we are talking about the highest ranking government official giving the ok to kill people he swore to protect.

Let’s all take a step back and reevaluate his words here.

I will be there next week in Ft. Myers to help my mom clean up and toss out all the fruniture and bigger items that were ruined in the 4ft surge they had in their condo. I will be checking my pistol for the flight (I hardly ever do) and so help me god if I find someone trying to steal from those who have in many cases lost it all...I will ensure they lose it all as well. Since when has it been ok to loot peoples homes? Especially when so many have lost so much? Just because you lost all your things its ok to go take from another now? You are old enough to know better...I know you were raised better than that especially knowing what era you were raised in.

You probably already know, but just in case make sure you put the rounds in their own box in a seperate bag and have the magazines empty.

I'm pretty sure none of the airline employees know the law or their own rules, because everytime I check my handgun they say something different and I have to argue with a supervisor for half an hour and show them the law and the specific airline rules as well.

Apparently they think rounds go off by themselves and that passengers can somehow get down into the cargo bay from the inside.

Imagine a black person looking for their wrecked boat. A white person thinks they are looting and they are shot.
Who is at fault?…………

The white person.

You can't shoot a person just because you think they are looting.

Looting from homes of people who had to evacuate or had their homes destroyed is the epitome of callousness.

That's not really looting. That's burglary. Looting is always done during some kind of mass hysteria, usually after a natural disaster or during a riot.

But both ARE "Stealing" right ?

U Loot, We Shoot, U Scoot 😀

Taking something that doesn't belong to you, or that you didn't work for, or pay for, or earn, .... Is exactly what "stealing" is!

It's All stealing. Looting, robbery, burglary, theft, shop lifting, larceny, it's all stealing. DeSantis didn't say "You con. We shoot", or "You shoplift. We shoot". He said "You loot. We shoot."

You think the "box store" owner , doesn't have a "debt" to pay?

The [Texas] law cited says use deadly force when:

(3) he reasonably believes that:

(A) the land or property cannot be protected or recovered by any other means; or

(B) the use of force other than deadly force to protect or recover the land or property would expose the actor or another to a substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury.

and I realize this is "Stand Your Ground" Florida. But the laws are basically the same. You must fear for your life to kill someone, or if the property being stolen can't be replaced. TVs can be replaced.

Kind of like watching "LEO"s taking advantage of the tragic situation during Katrina in Louisiana. I witnessed some eye opening, "legal" stuff.

I agree that killing someone over a TV isn't worth it. A horrible thing to have happen, to be sure.

But it ain't about the TV.
It's about principles and upholding "civil standards".
The "governments" have no issues or moral regret, with taking your house if you don't pay taxes. Actually it is the opposite. They believe they're teaching you a moral/civil lesson, by doing so.They'd even kill you, to "learn" you.

The main lesson to be learned? Is don't steal things, that don't belong to you. Your life is worth more than a TV.

Fascist gonna fascist, I guess. So much for the rule of law.

Probably should have opened fire on the J6 insurrectionists who attacked the Capitol, if we're talking about shooting law breakers in the act...

Laws are made by lawyers, to bring "business/customers" to the industry.

I'm not surprised.

Justice is the farthest thing from the minds of "lawmakers".

Looting isn’t just about going into home to take things (which btw I don’t agree with)
Looting in the past has been about people literally trying to survive and get supplies for survival from natural fallout.
I posted the Katrina link above. Should they be shot? What if they “loot” on a former but now destroyed property of someone else looking for food or water? What if it were your mom, would you want someone to shoot her because she went 10 feet in the wrong direction?

Then it's fair game. If you're simply trying to find food and water to survive then you better have a means a firing back, because if they are shooting at you because they think you are looting then it's fair to shoot back because you they are trying to kill you and you can just as well assume that they are criminals as well trying to take advantage of you.

You want to talk about reality? People don't usually just start shooting. Usually there are first some words shouted and maybe some gun waving, and if that doesn't cause someone to run off that's when the shooting happens.

There are exceptions of course, but these simple what ifs are ridiculous.

If one gets a good enough lawyer they can make the argument that the stolen products caused a loss in profits, and that the higher insurance premiums after the claim is settled will cause further losses.

Sure big stores may be able to handle such matters, but smaller local businesses don't have the resources nor the financial buffer to handle it.

A local business selling electronics(or anything for that matter) isn't likely to have money set aside for emergencies like this(especially with the economy the way it is), and the loss of his or her product from theft means that they won't be able to sell products to make money. Even if they file an insurance claim it's not some quick process where their store will be up and running within a few days. Then, there are bills, debts, other financial matters.

And no one needs a #ing TV or diapers to survive.

I swear people like you are why I really hope a meteor comes crashing.

You'll justify anything.

I'm not even a capitalist or supporter of corporations and the whole "insurance will cover it" argument is weak. It's something I'd expect from some dumbass teenager who doesn't know socialism from communism—definitely not from a grown ass adult.

Now you need to retract your statement about ME not knowing how it is in a natural disaster. Hurricane HUGO,without power/water/food 2 to 4 weeks. WInter storm a while back 1 week,no power, water, little scarce food. I know EXACTLY how it is to be desperate for food, water. not ONCE did we EVER try to steal or loot ANYONE. We would had starved first and just about did. eating bark and drinking rain water until the Red cross came in after hugo.

SO do not even try to say I do not know how it is. Stealing is wrong no matter the reason for it. IF they feel they need to steal, then I feel the need to stop them.

He could have said "Don't loot and we won't shoot" instead. It's much less aggressive sounding.

Some people forget that even at these big stores real people live in the community who depend on those goods to remain safe and able to be sold so that they can continue to make a paycheck and support themselves and their loved ones.

But nope it's all about the people who feel they should be able to safely steal.

Man, I wonder how people survived before mass produced diapers were a thing. What.. are people too afraid to pick up after a baby #s itself and wipe it's ass clean?

What is "fascist" about that? It has been a common and socially recognized belief in The U.S.A., from the beginning.
Not to mention enshrined in the constitutions of many states.

It wasn't till "educated" "lawyers" saw the business opportunity of twisting logic, common sense and law, that people like you appeared.

Let me guess,? You believe, only "The State", has the right to steal from you? Because it's totally "legal".
Everyone else, are "fascist"!

These people that hate common sense, English common law and The C.O.T.U.S. aren't going to be happy when they finally get what they want.

"Shall not be..." And "Thou shalt not..", Seems to be a problem for them.
For them "shall not be" comes with, what about, if, but, and unless... ??? No standard for them.

It's all about feelings and "democracy" for them. For now, because it's useful for the time being.
Until they let enough people into their home, that don't have the same fuzzy feelings about "the planet", but love the idea of being in the majority.

People say fascist, but they have no idea of what it means.

70 years from now, "fascist" will mean something totally different. Just like it did 70+ years ago.
When the world's most notorious fascist was "democratically" elected to office.
