I will be there next week in Ft. Myers to help my mom clean up and toss out all the fruniture and bigger items that were ruined in the 4ft surge they had in their condo. I will be checking my pistol for the flight (I hardly ever do) and so help me god if I find someone trying to steal from those who have in many cases lost it all...I will ensure they lose it all as well. Since when has it been ok to loot peoples homes? Especially when so many have lost so much? Just because you lost all your things its ok to go take from another now? You are old enough to know better...I know you were raised better than that especially knowing what era you were raised in.

Imagine a black person looking for their wrecked boat. A white person thinks they are looting and they are shot.
Who is at fault?…………

Looting from homes of people who had to evacuate or had their homes destroyed is the epitome of callousness.
That's not really looting. That's burglary. Looting is always done during some kind of mass hysteria, usually after a natural disaster or during a riot.
Taking something that doesn't belong to you, or that you didn't work for, or pay for, or earn, .... Is exactly what "stealing" is!
You think the "box store" owner , doesn't have a "debt" to pay?
(3) he reasonably believes that:
(A) the land or property cannot be protected or recovered by any other means; or
(B) the use of force other than deadly force to protect or recover the land or property would expose the actor or another to a substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury.

Fascist gonna fascist, I guess. So much for the rule of law.
Probably should have opened fire on the J6 insurrectionists who attacked the Capitol, if we're talking about shooting law breakers in the act...

Looting isn’t just about going into home to take things (which btw I don’t agree with)
Looting in the past has been about people literally trying to survive and get supplies for survival from natural fallout.
I posted the Katrina link above. Should they be shot? What if they “loot” on a former but now destroyed property of someone else looking for food or water? What if it were your mom, would you want someone to shoot her because she went 10 feet in the wrong direction?

Strong words coming from the Governor there. As a right wing gun owner and Trump voter, I don’t think those words should have ever come out of his mouth. I wouldn’t want to pull the trigger and take someone’s life for stealing any number of televisions. Its just not worth taking a life over, EVER. The looters are scum, yes, and should be punished, but we are talking about the highest ranking government official giving the ok to kill people he swore to protect.
Let’s all take a step back and reevaluate his words here.

He could have said "Don't loot and we won't shoot" instead. It's much less aggressive sounding.

If one gets a good enough lawyer they can make the argument that the stolen products caused a loss in profits, and that the higher insurance premiums after the claim is settled will cause further losses.
Sure big stores may be able to handle such matters, but smaller local businesses don't have the resources nor the financial buffer to handle it.
A local business selling electronics(or anything for that matter) isn't likely to have money set aside for emergencies like this(especially with the economy the way it is), and the loss of his or her product from theft means that they won't be able to sell products to make money. Even if they file an insurance claim it's not some quick process where their store will be up and running within a few days. Then, there are bills, debts, other financial matters.
And no one needs a #ing TV or diapers to survive.
I swear people like you are why I really hope a meteor comes crashing.
You'll justify anything.
I'm not even a capitalist or supporter of corporations and the whole "insurance will cover it" argument is weak. It's something I'd expect from some dumbass teenager who doesn't know socialism from communism—definitely not from a grown ass adult.
