I just can’t see the logic behind Russia (or Putin) being so adamantly against neighbouring nations joining NATO.

They say it’s a threat to there security by the west. But hold on, isn’t invading & threatening European nations far more of a risk to there security, than if these nations join NATO?

It doesn’t make any sense... unless it’s all purely based on blatant ideology.

Pretty much... Putin has been in charge for the last 20+ years. I wonder how much of "the west is the enemy" is designed to distract the Russian people from internal issues. He has this paranoid view that everyone wants to invade Russia and in order to prove that he invades his neighbors.

As the brutal war between Russia and Ukraine continues to escalate and reached its 47th day on Monday, the Deputy head of Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Militia hinted at the possible use of chemical weapons usage in Mariupol's Azovstal Steel Plant. Notably, Azovstal is one of Europe's biggest iron and steelworks. Addressing a press briefing, Eduard Basurin revealed the plan of using chemical weapons, stating there was no point in storming the Azovstal underground fortifications in Mariupol.

Basurin claimed that up to 4,000 nationalists can take shelter at Azovstal. "When capturing Azovstal in Mariupol, you need to act more cunningly in order to avoid losses, because of the underground floors. It is pointless to storm the object," he was quoted as saying by Channel One. He also stressed the importance of blocking the plant by finding all the exits and entrances. "It is possible to accomplish. The chemical troops, I believe, will then find a means to smoke moles out of their holes," Basurin remarked. Last month, Russian armed forces shelled Ukraine's Mariupol city due to which Azovstal Steel Plant was badly damaged.

Multiple reporters are reporting it on twitter. The Azov Regiment in Mariupol reports what could be the Russian use of chemical weapons against the entrenched Ukrainian garrison in the city.
An unidentified agent was delivered with a UAV.
Revealed effects include respiratory and vestibular failures.

There are more in the twitter feed initially posted. I reported last night a 13km Russian convoy was demolished and that it would be confirmed today and it was. These have been reliable sources.

Alexei Bychkov was detained on Saturday, April 9, after a video emerged on social media, which showed the soldier sexually abusing a baby. It is believed that the video was shot while Bychkov was on active duty in Ukraine. Russian social media users on Vkontakte claim Bychkov is a lieutenant of military unit No. 64044, which is based in Pskov in northwest Russia.

As far as I can tell, this is only coming from one source. That source is the Azov Battalion, not exactly trustworthy.

I'm not trying to debunk you, they very well could have used a chemical weapon in Mariupol. However, your 3rd source also says according to the Azov Battalion. Until we see more evidence of this, I would take it with a grain of salt.

If they had used sarin gas there would be nobody left to report it happened.

While there are no trusted journalists in Mariupol, Russian propagandists are working there. So we can expect them boasting of their new achievement soon... And of course, blaming the Ukrainians. Just saying it for the record - hoping to be wrong

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry has not yet confirmed the use of chemical weapons in #Mariupol, but said, according to the Azov Battalion, that the likelihood of Russia using chemical weapons is very high.
