Options under consideration in the Ministry of Defence include sending a protected patrol vehicle, such as the Mastiff, or a vehicle like the Jackal, which can be used as a reconnaissance or long-range patrol vehicle. These could enable Ukrainian forces to push further forward towards Russian lines.

Nearly 750 armored vehicles purchased by the British Ministry of Defence to combat the threat of roadside bombs in Afghanistan are being axed from the Army’s force structure.

In obtaining Bushmasters from Australia, Ukraine's efforts to shame the U.S. or NATO members into sending them more equipment might work to a degree. One option for the British Army is to retain a small number of Wolfhounds to employ as a testbed for testing laser systems. The remaining vehicles, including Jackals, are dispatched to Ukraine.

Accelerating the Multi-Role Vehicle Protected (MRV-P) program would allow for new vehicles to replace those transferred to Ukraine. But the concern is the capability gap between the IED/landmine resistance vehicle's departure and the arrival of new models.
