Ukrainians aren't really chasing russians in the east either, best I can tell Ukraine is setting up for a defensive depth strategy in the east, while russia is probing along that long front trying to find a way through and keep the Ukrainians guessing where they're gonna come from.

I agree this is a dangerous situation with the unknowns right now, but we can see who is digging in and russia doesn't appear to be doing much of that, they are preparing for something mobile.

My worry is in them watching the Norwegians scrambling for NATO membership and for some reason ramping up the gravity of escalation.

Especially with former Soviet states like Estonia making claims like "It's now or never" for NATO to do something about Putin. This rhetoric, i guarantee will make Putin want to (dont know if he will) up the ante.

Agreed 100%, this is not the time to be spooking a madman.

This is also the reason I'm so upset that the b52s weren't grounded on day 1.

I have no idea what putin is planning next, much less what he will actually do, but for now there aren't any reports that they are digging in anywhere, which only makes me even more concerned.
