The problem was Putin did not declare this a war. Sending in under maned BTGs. The Russians know you don't send in tanks without infantry this is why in ww2 they rode on the tanks. BTGs was designed to be ready for troops to be dropped into the units but all the equipment would be there. Don't give a commander enough troops he has to make decisions on where people go do you leave your tanks behind or turn infantry into tankers? Every problem they are having evolves back to lack of manpower.

But how much value would the additional personnel and equipment add to the Russian Army? First, the well-documented corruption/logistical issues would have crippled the reinforcements. In place of fuel supplies, those units might have morphed into well-staffed static units, not unlike those deployed by the German Army (1943-45) and destroyed by allied forces.

Nor would have the centralised character of the Russian command changed in the circumstances.

With Biden "in charge", the Russians had better leave "New York" alone ... the potential for confusion could have unfortunate results.

Putin can have New York

When he crosses the Hudson to New Jersey - that would be trouble ..........

The Russians screwed up several aspects of the invasion, most of which are consequences of the mistaken assumption that Ukraine would quickly collapse. They successfully disinformed themselves by believing their own propaganda.

Quite a story to Prague 1968, but this small bit from Wikipedia gives some of the flavor that might ring familiar with the Hostomel airport seizure.

The invasion was well planned and coordinated; simultaneously with the border crossing by ground forces, a Soviet spetsnaz task force of the GRU (Spetsnaz GRU) captured Ruzyne International Airport in the early hours of the invasion. It began with a flight from Moscow which carried more than 100 agents in plain clothes and requested an emergency landing at the airport due to "engine failure". They quickly secured the airport and prepared the way for the huge forthcoming airlift, in which Antonov An-12 transport aircraft began arriving and unloading Soviet Airborne Forces equipped with artillery and light tanks.

As the operation at the airport continued, columns of tanks and motorized rifle troops headed toward Prague and other major centers, meeting almost no resistance.

Awesome share, thanks. I am puzzled on who he supports. Just kidding 😂. I found it curious that he seems to know that Ukraine is loosing about a thousand off the field a day, but never mentioned the Russian invaders losses. He's basically saying if when the invasion started, if Ukraine would've just surrendered, it would be so much better now. LOL ya' think? I found him to be a moron, but a likeable one. I enjoyed the laughs he provided. Again thanks 👍

As a reminder

Just so people know and understand. Information from war zones can become confusing as there will no doubt be info released from the players (on both sides) involved that might not necessarily be true.

As such take everything as a possibility and NOT as absolute truth.

The very first casualty in a war is the truth and all warfare is based on deception

June 18th, 2022 - Lithuania Bans Transit Of Sanctioned Russian Goods To Kaliningrad

Lithuania has begun a ban on the rail transit of goods subject to European Union sanctions to the Russian far-western exclave of Kaliningrad, transport authorities in the Baltic nation said on June 18.

The EU sanctions list includes coal, metals, construction materials, and advanced technology.

Anton Alikhanov, the governor of the Russian oblast, said the ban would cover around 50 percent of the items that Kaliningrad imports.

Alikhanov said the region, which has an ice-free port on the Baltic Sea, will call on Russian federal authorities to take tit-for-tat measures against the EU country for imposing the ban. He said he would also seek to have more goods sent by ship to the oblast.

The cargo unit of Lithuania's state railways service set out details of the ban in a letter to clients following "clarification" from the European Commission on the mechanism for applying the sanctions.

Previously, Lithuanian Deputy Foreign Minister Mantas Adomenas said the ministry was waiting for "clarification from the European Commission on applying European sanctions to Kaliningrad cargo transit."

18 June update

Key Takeaways

* Russian forces secured minor gains on the outskirts of Severodonetsk and likely advanced into Metolkine, but Russian operations remain slow.

* Russian forces continued efforts to interdict Ukrainian lines of communication along the T1302 Bakhmut-Lysychansk highway and conducted ground and artillery strikes along the highway.

* Russian forces seek to push Ukrainian forces out of artillery range of railway lines around Kharkiv City used to supply Russian offensive operations toward Slovyansk.

* Russian forces did not take any confirmed actions along the Southern Axis and continue to face partisan pressure in occupied areas of southern Ukraine.

Russian forces made marginal gains on the outskirts of Severodonetsk on June 18 but have largely stalled along other axes of advance. Russian troops are likely facing mounting losses and troop and equipment degradation that will complicate attempts to renew offensive operations on other critical locations as the slow battle for Severodonetsk continues.

1968 occupation of CSSR (Prague spring) happened in totally different situation. I was born 8 years after occupation, but hell, we hated Russians. It took me some 20 years to "do not hate Russians" stance. Now, I hate them again. Well done Mr. Putin.

The political relationship of the CSSR and the USSR was different vice that of Russia and Ukraine today. There are, however, similarities in the style of military strike initiated in both cases, particularly the airfield seizure with intent to occupy the capital city shortly thereafter.

There was no active frontline like in Donbas after 2014 and USSR satellites (Poland, Hungary, East Germany) were more or less participating in invasion. We were part of "camp of peace", only small fraction of intellectuals was able to see upcoming disaster. Russia have imperialistic mindset in its genome. Similar to USA.

I do believe, Putin and his regime is comparable to Hitler and Third reich. Still I have to ask, if Western policies did not created this beast as Wiemar republic conditions created Hitler. 90. in Russia were pure hell and great part of it should be attributed to neoliberal "Chicago boys". Those lunatics (or agents of capital?) destroyed economies in all former eastern bloc.

Economic "reforms" were not successful. For same work you will get 3 times more money just behind the border, but you pay EU market price for goods. 30 years after. I do not want Russians, but I do not want Americans also. Both are arrogant bitches.
