"By your guys' own logic, he can't even take Ukraine. So what do you mean? Can't be both"

We mean he has nukes and has been making subtle threats.

You failed to mention the Crimea canal that Ukraine dammed when Russia annexed Crimea.

Waters flowing now but they are not going to withdraw and let it be dammed again.

This war for Russia was just as much about water as it is about national security.

Crimea is Ukrainian soil, if russia wants water it should go back to russia and stop invading non threatening neighbors.

The Baltic states – Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia – no longer receive natural gas from Russia, since the beginning of April, said Uldis Bariss, chairman of the board of directors of the natural gas system operator.

He noted that the gas is being delivered by two suppliers – the Klaipeda LNG terminal and the underground gas depot in Inocalnes. The head of Conexus stressed that Russia’s statement that it would be possible to pay for the natural gas it supplies only in Russian rubles, was an indication of the need for a sharp reduction in supplies from Russia, since it can no longer be counted on.

There was all that talk about shutting down the pipelines to starve Russia and Russia shut it down themselves. Lativa reports they are good for many months with stockpiles already.

I am sure US oil and gas will be happy to supply them. For a cost, and the cost is going to be far more than what they were paying.

No one wants this war to end and here is why

Ukraine: the world’s defence giants are quietly making billions from the war

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has been widely condemned for its unjustified aggression. There are legitimate fears of a revived Russian empire and even a new world war. Less discussed is the almost half trillion dollar (£381 billion) defence industry supplying the weapons to both sides, and the substantial profits it will make as a result.

Your funny the Russians did not turn off the gas supplies. You are such a Kremlin cheerleader you try to spin things to make Russia look etter.

The reality is that the Baltic states refused to buy Russian gas. This was not a decision or an outcome Russia wanted. And yes this will hurt Russia a lot since its gas sales are what keeps the Russian government solvent. You might want to get your pay upfront for your Russian support.

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda called on the rest of the EU to follow the Baltic example.

"From this month on - no more Russian gas in Lithuania," he said on Twitter.

"Years ago my country made decisions that today allow us with no pain to break energy ties with the agressor," he added.

"If we can do it, the rest of Europe can do it too!"

That guy is dead and you can tell they are prerecorded statements.

Half the world is reporting him dead and he doesn't make any cocky jabs about still being alive or revenge for the fallen. Nor does he play up the claim that the helicopter was carrying wounded humanitarians.

It is a very generic statement. The CIA taught them really well.

How much specificity is required from a war zone, do you want the air ambulance tail number?

Try to spin it any way you want. It is a fact that Russia turned off the gas. It is also a fact that Russia insisted on Rubles knowing full well they may not comply. Likely wouldn't comply.

No one is going to exchange Rubles for Euros or whatever they use at the going exchange rate.

The EU was already shooting themselves in the foot over gas but they may have graduated toe shooting themselves in the head.

The planet already refused to pay in rubles and putin already relented, why keep trying to spread this nonsense.

Yup, putin is the gift that keeps on giving.

Perhaps he shouldn't have invaded a non threatening neighbor.

He says the U.S. is in the process of giving Poland M1s from storage in exchange for giving Ukraine 1000 t72s.

Is this actually happening?

Cuz that's a pretty big deal for both Poland and Ukraine.

From ISW:

Russian forces continued to capture territory in central Mariupol on April 2 and will likely capture the city within days.

Ukrainian forces repelled several possibly large-scale Russian assaults in Donbas, claiming to destroy almost 70 Russian vehicles.

Russian forces will likely require a lengthy operational pause to integrate reinforcements into existing force structures in eastern Ukraine and enable successful operations but appear unlikely to do so and will continue to bleed their forces in ineffective daily attacks.

Russian forces in Izyum conducted an operational pause after successfully capturing the city on April 1 and will likely resume offensive operations to link up with Russian forces in Donbas in the coming days.

Russia continued to withdraw forces from the Kyiv axis into Belarus and Russia.

Ukrainian forces primarily conducted operations to sweep and clear previously Russian-occupied territory.

Ukrainian forces likely repelled limited Russian attacks in Kherson Oblast.

The Ukrainian General Staff reported that Ukrainian forces have rendered two-thirds of the 75 Russian Battalion Tactical Groups it assesses have fought in Ukraine either temporarily or permanently combat ineffective.

Ukraine getting 1000 t72s in a few days is an absolute game changer!

This means they can go directly to the eastern front to meet the invading russians without pulling too much out of Kiev as russia retreats.

Poland getting M1s goes a long way to slamming the Poland door on putin.
