Erdogan says Turkey 'would not welcome' Finland or Sweden joining NATO

Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan remarked to journalists after leaving Friday prayers in Istanbul that Turkey would not welcome either Sweden or Finland from joining the Nato.

“We are currently following developments regarding Sweden and Finland, but we don’t feel positively about this,” he said.

“We don’t want to commit a mistake,” he added. “Scandinavian countries are like guesthouses for terrorist organisations. To go even further, they have seats in their parliaments too.”

Not cool to allow Sweden and Finland to put themselves out there like they have and then leave them hanging.

Some Croatian politician is also saying he'll oppose it. All the little people who are sore about something will use the candidacy of Sweden and Finland to try to achieve their own aims.

This is the NATO that all the shills scream is so dangerous

Cheers

Remember Zelensky posted a photo with a Neo-Nazi Ukrainian soldier wearing the ‘Death Head’ patch, the SS-Panzerdivision "Totenkopf"...

Just like Biden's "I did that sticker", posters and stickers with Zelensky's head stylized as the SS division "Death Head" started to appear all over Berlin...

Selenskyi Dummkopf 🤣

The Russians take this very seriously and their special operation is because they had their red line.

I agree they may well pay, unfortunately we all might pay in total death and destruction of planet Earth.

Hopefully Putin isn't "all in". When we talk nuclear war only Putin's name comes up as the one to start it. No one is actually invading mother Russia or really wants to. The only way nuclear war starts is if Putin, no one else, pushes the button for only losing in Ukraine, and not a true invasion into Russia.

I personally think that the red line, Nazis, NATO etc are all just excuses for Putin to take back the gem of USSR's satellites countries. RT here on ATS and most Russians refer to Ukraine as Russia and not a sovereign state, and that there is one of the big issues here. Another one is Putin is tired of dealing with them and taking Ukraine would open the door for direct energy to EU with no middle man to deal with. Ukraine also has massive natural resources to include wheat etc. that would just be the icing on the cake for Putin. It also increases the Russian population by 25%, not a small number.

Putin has stated the greatest disaster in the last 100 years was not WWI or WWII, but the fall of the USSR. If he had his way every former satellite country would be back under Russia.

Russia is also a propaganda machine like no other, so we will keep hearing oh the poor Russians in the East BS as he blows the crap out of the country...lol If we look at it the 8 year proxy war of his added up to about 1500 lives per year lost counting both sides fighting and civilians, look at what he has done in less than 90 days....

Concerning Russian losses on their tanks per Rob Lee, Senior Fellor @FPRI:

Tanks are vulnerable when a combined arms component is missing or weak. Russia doesn’t have enough infantry to protect its tanks from ATGM teams, and they’re struggling to suppress/destroy Ukrainian artillery that is locating them with commercial UAVs. Russia decided to reduce the motorized rifle battalion in tank regiments to a 75-man company, and then decided to not mass its forces properly in Ukraine. I don't think this war has demonstrated that tanks are any more vulnerable than previously known.

Cheers!

While is it true Stinger may be able to target Orlan's small heat signature, the latest Zala battery powered drones don't have enough heat signature to be targeted by Stinger. They are also too small and have too much composite material to have sufficient radar signature to be targeted by radar guided SAM. Only Starstreak can shoot down Zala drones but theses are too quiet to be heard from the ground and fly too high to be seen easily.

Being in the drone side of things I'm not too impressed with this drone. It seems to be much like what we were fielding 10 years ago. Today we can stay up 15+ hours, have camera capabilities 10 times of 10 years ago, and can easily laser designate targets all day long with little worry of being shot down. Laser designation is key because just using camera lat long or MGRS coordinates will be off a good deal unless you fly a box pattern for a while over the target to let math slowly reduce the error and even with that we are talking 25 meters error as the best we can get. Today it is target spotted, then lasered, then gone. We are talking drones half the size of the Zala and with a battery of only 4 hours its range is not very far. They say 125 miles, but I don't believe that unless they are using satellite links. 60 miles would be the limit maybe 90 if on the ocean and that would be dicey. Years ago we were watching Iran oil rigs and seeing who was getting oil and that was at 80 miles with a video that was really bad at that range. We can push 300 miles (beyond line of sight) and do 15+ to 20+ hours based on the cameras used at 50 pounds in weight today.

If the drone knows its location using GPS, its altitude using altimeter, the distance to the target using laser rangefinder, the drone uses Pythagorean theorem to calculate the location of the target without flying over the target. The distance between the drone and the target is the slant distance, the drone's altitude is the height, the distance to the target is calculated as follows:

slant distance between drone and target ^ 2 = drone's altitude ^ 2 + horizontal distance between drone and target ^ 2

so horizontal distance between drone and target = slant distance between drone and target ^ 2 - drone's altitude ^ 2 and take square root

The drone knows its own location, calculates the horizontal distance between the drone and the target, then the drone can calculate the location of the target without flying over the target

Lots of errors there, so not so easy as Googling the math behind it all. I also didn't say flying over it, but a box pattern to get that slant. That slant also has a ton of errors associated with it. As I said, doing all that we are talking still 25 meter error as best situation with prefect slant. That can be the difference between a school and the bad guys. That drone most likely does not use an altimeter either... 200 meters error is not uncommon.

A Laser designator is instant with bombs away. In the past we would use laser pointers so that troops on the ground could see with special nogs the exact building/location.

So why hasn't russia been using them instead of the orlans that keep getting shot down?
