Didnt have to be this way. Putin is giving them every chance and the Russians will pay for it in casualties. He could have went in hard but chose to minimize the damage as much as possible.

War is Hell thats for sure. I pray for the good people of Ukraine caught up in the middle as well as Russia.

If that's true why does putin need to send in more russian forces? Why does he need 12k Chechen soldiers? Why does he need Belarus?

Because he didnt want to go in hard and chose to minimize damage to the country..... obviously.

If it doesnt want to harm civilians why are they being so brutal with their own country folk in Russia during peaceful protests ? Why are they trying to change the laws so that protesters can be tried for treason ?

Simple you don't use rocket artillery or thermobaric bombs if you're trying to avoid civilian casualties. The reality is Ukrainians are fighting off invaders in their country here we are a week in and Russia has yet to take any major city. And has even been expelled from them. Another week or two and there won't be any Russian armor left as more and more javelins pour into Ukraine. The longer this takes the greater Russian losses will get. Time only helps Ukraine as fighters and more weapons join their cause.

Russian soldiers rarely harm Ukrainian civilians when those russian soldiers are on russian soil.

Perhaps they should go back there now, those russian soldiers?

people getting cut up on both sides and most wars are won before they are fought. Putin cant back down and he has the numbers along with the plan. I am hoping the Ukrainian civilian casualty count is as little as possible. Putin is not going to allow a biological attack on Russia though.

putin seems convinced their military strength is superior, he said something (paraphrasing here, i would have to check his speech) along the lines of nuclear war being the end, but at the same time they're convinced they can pull it off.
