Under the 1936 Montreux Convention, Turkey has control over the Dardanelles and Bosphorus straits that connect the Mediterranean and Black seas and can limit the passage of warships during wartime or if threatened.

Well this is mildly concerning, wonder how that will shift Russia's dealings with the international community if Turkey closes the straits to them.

Decision was made a long time ago if anyone was paying attention.

Most wars are won before they are fought. I suspect this will be no different. Turn off the volume of the talking heads and just look at the coverage. Looks like Russian forces are in pretty good shape.

Everybody got it wrong. Putin is a piece keeper. Threatening to defend yourself against Russia is aggressive so they have to attack you in self defense. Propaganda 101: Accuse your enemy of that which you are guilty.
