In order to kill viruses/microorganisms in the air, you need a minimum of 15 minutes to an hour exposure at low doses.

Someone tried it while standing in the room

The sunburn lasted for quite awhile.

If you bring people into a sterile room, it becomes non-sterile. You have to sterilize the humans and their clothing (as in an operating room.)

2 confirmed and 3 probable cases in Aotearoa/New Zealand today plus one more death bringing total dead to 17. One of the confirmed cases linked to overseas travel and the rest are linked to known clusters except one probable case seen unknown.

NSW is leading the country in the race to ease restrictions by upping the number of coronavirus tests administered each day to 8000.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced this morning that the increase in testing is part of the government’s wider plan to reopen the state.

“I want to stress today that I’m very pleased to announced NSW is now saying to anybody across the state, if you have symptoms, if you are worried you have COVID-19, if you have been in contact with anyone and you are concerned you have the disease, please come forward and get tested,” she said.

This could get interesting.. Australia and New Zealand are the envy of the world at the moment with their control over the virus and very low numbers, nearing 0.

If they test all people with or without symptoms, this could turn on a dime and suddenly sky rocket
It could also change the way we look at this virus.. If we find 1000's infected with it, yet no affects and no one around them infected.... what happens then?

We know (or, rather, scientists know) that there are superspreaders as well as asymptomatic cases. I didn't post the things I read on superspreaders; I figured it'd be ignored. But testing will help keep people safe.

And because someone is asymptomatic now, it doesn't mean that they won't get it the next time around (see Wikipedia for a list of subclinical conditions en.wikipedia.org...). As an example, many people have subclinical levels of the bacteria that causes ulcers and are completely asymptomatic until stress causes it to flare up into full blown stomach ulcers.

So if you know how widespread it is, you can learn something about how the next pandemic might emerge, how it hides, and most importantly, what some of the factors are that can change outcomes.

Hawaii, hit quite lightly with Governor's order issued March 25.

After May 6, 2020, relaxing social distancing may be possible with containment strategies that include testing, contact tracing, isolation, and limiting gathering size.

The findings come after researchers at a top Paris hospital examined 343 coronavirus patients along with 139 people infected with the illness with milder symptoms.

They found that a low number of them smoked, compared to smoking rates of around 35 percent in France's general population.

"Among these patients, only five percent were smokers," said Zahir Amoura, the study's co-author and a professor of internal medicine.

The research echoed similar findings published in the New England Journal of Medicine last month that suggested that 12.6 percent of 1,000 people infected in China were smokers. That was a much lower figure than the number of regular smokers in China's general population, about 26 percent, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

I've been wondering about Marijuana personally.. I wonder if it helps keep the lungs clear of the virus.
Now France says the statistics suggest Nicotine has a resistance effect

so is the chemicals in the smoke or the damage to the lungs that prevent the virus for killing you?

So you get 50 years with smoking or 50 days with the virus.

Tobacco industry saved. Could tobacco cure coronavirus? Don’t laugh.

The Pentagon's medical research arm credited the use of tobacco plants in 2012 for the quick development of 10 million doses of flu vaccine.

Right. They do those rooms without humans in them. Then they let the humans in.

So if front line staff in France are issuing nicotine patches then it looks like that smoking is the greatest protection so far in not ending up in ICU could it be that the lower death rate than those predicted, missed this factor that a certain amount of the population are still smoking?

Your aspersion is merely what you see when you look in the mirror. Some know Boris by other names none of which you could live up to. Boris will be one of the best PM's the UK has ever had and one thought well of by all sectors of the population! Full blame for these unprecedented times should be laid at China and the CCP b.stards!

Boris has made the wrong move at every single point in this crises; locked down too late, opted out of the euro order for PPE, bought the wrong test kits, followed advice from his puppet medical advisor and then hidden behind modelling they won’t reveal.

And where is he? As soon as it became apparent he’d completely ballsed it up he happens to get the virus and disappears from view, just like he did when he crapped himself after winning the Brexit vote - remember him declining to run as leader then and vanishing from the spotlight.

...Because just like the fiasco now he knew the mud will stick most to whomever is was camera failing to answer the awkward questions. Remember in the election when he was asked an awkward question he literally hid in a walk in freezer waiting for the press to leave.

As soon as there’s something positive to announce it’ll be Boris making a set up ‘triumphant’ return to make the announcement. He and Cummings are men to be feared, who’ll have no problem shouting “Over the top, chaps”. If you want to run into machine gun fire for these pampered pricks, then more fool you.
I guess you think you could do a better job then. All so easy to do everything right, not!

So if I point out the facts of the multiple, critical decisions that Boris has gotten wrong and then being out of reach ever since, your come back is ‘You do a better job, then...’

Come on, that’s not an argument justifying Boris’ complete balls up of the crises - that’s just playground name calling.

No, I very much doubt, with my state education that I would’ve gotten everything right. But with scientists around the world telling me to lockdown; with the evidence of China, S Korea, Italy and Spain showing why it’s absolutely necessary to lockdown ASAP; with NZ showing how it should be done... Yes, Even I would’ve done a far better job than Boris.

In fact I’d have to try pretty hard with spurious rationales that make no sense; with pretend modelling that I can’t show anyone; with two stooges either side of me voicing fudged half truths and delay tactics... I'd need to somehow accomplish all that and more in order to make all the mistakes Boris has made. Frankly i don't think i could manage that - it's a tall order.

I don’t imagine for a moment that getting everything so wrong would be easy. There’d be holes in the arguments and when the awkward questions began to get asked I’d have to come up with a way of hiding. It wouldn’t be as easy as saying “I’m off now, bye bye” like after the Brexit vote.

What are the viable options...? Either we have an idiot leading the country, or in a ruthless eugenicist. I’m not Being facetious or argumentative - I just honestly can’t see a plausible alternative explanation to these two.

They were specifically talking about Nicotine, thats why they have given the patches to test.
Smoking is still considered worse for your health in the long run.

It looks promising, tests done on mice is pretty far along the testing phase.
Thanks for the info, I dismissed Observationalist's post too quickly.

Where in the ad you posted does it say any of the above?
I know the answer to that question but I'm still interested to read your explanation.

I assume you realize that bacteria and virus mean different things ?

ONS figures for the week ending 10th April released in UK today. These show deaths for the week of 18K which is 8K above the 5 yearly average. Sobering numbers and pretty clear this is not just ‘normal’ deaths reclassified as COVID.

So, I wonder how many of those are people who took their own lives due to the stupid lock-downs, or otherwise died that would not have died if not for the stupid lock-downs?

"Hydroxychloroquine, alone or in combination with azithromycin, is being widely used in Covid-19 therapy based on anecdotal and limited observational evidence."

That's pretty self-explanatory. We've seen lots of people insisting (based on some cases) that certain treatments are absolutely the best way to treat Covid-19.

So, this study is worthless since it leaves out the actual substance - Zinc - responsible for inhibiting the virus.

Thanks...

"They didn't include zinc. Isn't that an integral part of treatment with hydrchl. + z-pac?"

That study is ongoing and is in Turkey.

That didn't answer the question.
