Walmarts are running 6am-11am here, i believe that may be pretty widespread. That's weird

Stores all over are reducing hours.... supposedly to restock. The store a minute from my house had signs all over yesterday with new temp hours closing 4 hours earlier

They need more time to fully clean properly and restock.
Mostly cleaning I think.

Rumours of a possible Lockdown in France :
"Ile de France" and "L'Est" would be concerned.

Olivier Veran, has been quoted as saying " We hear a lot of things. If someone was to sign such a decree, that would be me. So I would know".

Too many people have been seen mingling at Markets and such in the Paris Region (Ile de France)

UK coronavirus crisis 'to last until spring 2021 and could see 7.9m hospitalised'

“As many as 80% of the population are expected to be infected with Covid-19 in the next 12 months, and up to 15% (7.9 million people) may require hospitalisation.”

Makes for some pretty sobering reading.

Not tesing the NHS Staff would be insane.

Wouldn't be surprised. I think the French administration has been holding back because of the nationwide local elections that have been held today (Sunday). Same in Germany (Bavaria).

The thinking here in the UK with keeping schools open and allowing some gatherings is to help build up what they called a 'herd immunity' to the virus. What they don't want are 2nd and 3rd waves of infections as they try to return us all to normality.

This is of course, highly disruptive to societies, and that is more my main concern. Governments have to spearhead ways to deal with this thing, but I can do without all the fear-mongering, because people don't think or act well with each other when they are scared. We all need to calm down and apply commonsense to it all, and act accordingly to the facts and not to hearsay with regard to the virus.

As I have stated, my concern is where we are going to be when it is all over? At least the electricity is still on.

But hold on, China has been at 80,000 for the past month, so that shows it can be virtually stopped with certain measures.

Ireland is closing all pubs in the nation in regards to the virus...

This might be it then...

Metro

The Irish government has called on all bars and pubs in the country to close to help curb the spread of coronavirus. People have also been urged not to go to house parties, and to avoid contact with the elderly or other at risk groups if they decided to go out this weekend. In a statement, the government said: “Following discussions today with the Licenced Vintners Association (LVA) and the Vintners Federation of Ireland (VFI), the Government is now calling on all public houses and bars (including hotel bars) to close from this evening (Sunday 15th March) until at least 29 March. ‘The LVA and VFI outlined the real difficulty in implementing the published Guidelines on Social Distancing in a public house setting, as pubs are specifically designed to promote social interaction in a situation where alcohol reduces personal inhibitions.

Saddens me...

On a lighter note, It's a clear night here, and I swear I can see more Stars than usual.

There must be a massive Pollution drop going on at the moment, with less Container/Cruise ships, Planes, Cars...

In Canada, our malls in Ontario at least are moving to reduced hours, we are seeing big names like Apple and Urban Outfitters close entirely, our casinos in Ontario are all closed for now, our commuter trains are moving to reduced schedules, our theatre productions in Toronto (like Broadway-lite) are closed... schools and daycares in many Provinces are closed... it goes on.
