I live a stones throw away from Smithfield Virginia and gotta admit the price of pork has come down since they sold the place. You'd think being right here where the pigs are born and bred it would be cheap but it wasnt. Not until China bought it.

Just saying...

Hey, don’t blame China for buying it, blame Smithfield for selling out.

Maybe you should have bought Smithfield?

UK Update

I'm not sure why worldometers are dragging their feet with UK today but SKY news has given at update of numbers at 5.03pm.

Sky link

What are the chances of that? The minute I post no numbers on Worldometers they pop up!

Worldometers

4,344 new cases and 881 new deaths.

As for COVID-19... if hydroxychloraquine+zinc - or high dose Vitamin C - resolves the illness, do you wait until you have studied the mechanism of how and why before pursuing their use as treatments, allowing untold thousands to die while you do your studies?

What if that treatment proves to have fatal consequences down the line that studies would have proven yet the desire to score a win meant you rushed it out and caused more harm than good?

Yellow Sky News banner normally implies breaking news. Gotta give them chance to update.

That's good to know! Thanks.
I don't normally use SKY, I'm a BBC girl myself, but I was on the hunt for numbers.

I guess that would make it like 95% of the other "cures" that the FDA approves. though it seems to me that intravenous viatamin C is a lot less likely to have long term consequences as compared to some synthetic cocktail, patented and sold for extreme profit.

SOUTH AFRICA UPDATE (Day 14 of 35 Day Total Lock down)

1. Lock down extended by 2 weeks.
2. Infected 1934 (+89)
3. Deaths 18 (+0)

And so it continues. Not totally unexpected but it still a shock knowing we are only 40% through the lock down when we were all hoping we only had 7 days left.
I predict some unrest now.

We adjust. My wife and I have used household items to do a good gym workout every few days. I am getting used to working without human interaction and my teacher wife has learned a new skill: creating screencast videos for her students.
I have 7 beers left. Wife has no ciders left.

Did they give a reason for the extension? I know I'm getting itchy feet even though I'm working at home. I hope you adjust okay.

It's pretty hard, but you just have to buckle up and do what you can.
Today was our 3rd week ending, and we are pretty sure its going to be at least 3 more weeks.

Judging by the number of cars going through our little village these last two, sunny warm days, its going to be longer.
Next two days are set to be just as warm (24-25°C in the shade).

Hang in there, we can only win if we all pull together

I think the stated length of these lock downs should be taken with a heavy grain of salt. If they knew from day one that it would be around six months, they would never say so. They'd start with 4-6 weeks and then tack time on, doing otherwise would be too much of a shock. Just remember, all of us here are likely much better equipped to deal with the times than the average person. I'm personally thinking of it as an indefinite lock down.
