Well, I see NY continues it rise in numbers. With numbers like these I can see why Trump is considering quarantine for NY. This morning we were at 46262 now we are over 52000:

That's 122 today and they usually report a higher figure in the evening update... Pretty sure yesterday was around 50 in the morning and 84 in the evening.

Up to 660 cases and 15 deaths here in SC today. Pales in comparison to a lot of other states, but scary for us South Cackilackians. Stay safe, my Palmetto brethren.

From the Chicago Tribune, an infant has died in Illinois :

2:33 p.m.: Gov. Pritzker announces an infant and an Illinois state employee have died of the new coronavirus
At a news conference on Saturday, Gov. J.B. Pritzker says a state employee and an infant have both died of COVID-19.

“There has never before been” a death of an infant with COVID-19, state health officials say.

Is this the first infant death in US? world? Very sad news...

From the BBC Live Feed at 22.21 :

"Rhode Island Shuts Down New Yorkers".

Rhode Island, the smallest state in the US, has called on the National Guard to stop all cars with New York license plates to ask about where they plan to self-isolate for 14 days, as required under the state's emergency orders.

Troops are also going door-to-door in seaside vacation communities in search of New Yorkers.

"Right now, we have a pinpointed risk that we need to address, and we need to be very serious and that risk is called New York City," said Governor Gina Raimondo at a news conference on Friday.

From the Guardian :

"Boris Johnson to Warn UK : Tougher Lockdown may be Necessary"
Letter to be sent to all UK Households next week.

Link

Partial Quote :

“From the start, we have sought to put in the right measures at the right time,” Johnson says in the letter, which will land on doorsteps this week. “We will not hesitate to go further if that is what the scientific and medical advice tells us we must do.

“It’s important for me to level with you – we know things will get worse before they get better. But we are making the right preparations, and the more we all follow the rules, the fewer lives will be lost and the sooner life can return to normal … That is why, at this moment of national emergency, I urge you, please, to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives.”

Maybe it’s not a good idea to live on top of each other in these mega cities. Maybe it wasn’t a good idea to force them there by shutting down factories across the country.

Didn't a lot of cities develop because that's where the industry (work) was?

This can't be good, what happens when law enforcement can't enforce the law....

More than a fifth of Detroit's police force is quarantined; two officers have died from coronavirus and at least 39 have tested positive, including the chief of police.

Personally, I think they should have locked them in, and said "have fun in your 14 day quarantine together".

Idiots that violate it like that should have their names put in a data base and if they catch the virus are refused any medical care.

Did anyone else in MI catch the Gvernor on the news this morning?

She doesn't think schools will be open again for this school year.

Any other state Governors saying this yet?

Going to be rough on a lot of parents.

showed an article about the Philippines... I expect that will soon have astronomical numbers.

a good point is made, ''the medical staff are getting infected, then going and testing everyone. They could be spreading it''

Does anyone know how many doctors and medical staff die of "just the flu" every year?

When 1000+ are dying a day in the USA, I wonder if the few on here in denial will still hold onto their silly arguments .

If you know anyone who works in healthcare message them and tell them you’re proud of them .
